  1. Hi all having just sold my beloved RX300 which never had any problems I have just taken the plunge and bought a rx400h 2006. however on the day of delivery the VSC light came on it went to lexus where they said there was a sensor problem it was dirty they cleaned it and also fixed the recall problem on it. ok I drove it 120 miles to and from Bristol airport it was ok then this morning i had the check hybrid/ VSC light come on again with the usual warnng lights, there sounded like a ticking noise in the rear of the vehicle and there was a smell or burning??? could just be me though.is this the air suspension?? to be honest I am loosing faith in the vehicle and I think there is a major problem with it luckily I bought it from a large dealership not lexus tho. any thoughts anyone? are there steering problems with this car?? the 4wheel allignment done by lexus when they had it in as it was pulling to the right they did it but its still not right either...

  2. I bought one of those cans by locktight i think, that you put in the car with the aircon on the whole can is used and must get sucked in and is supposed to get rid of bacteria and smells, it made no difference at all to the smell, If you dont use the aircon often it will smell musty. I had mine re gassed and its been ok but it did cost me £90 but im in the trade and it will. prob cost you more now hope this this helps

  3. Hi I had a problem with my rx300 where the VSC light was comming on. We plugged into the car and were given a couple of fault codes and we thought it might be the lambda sensor as per your reading about the fuel. I changed the sensor by the exhaust as it was the easiest to get to and the cheapest to start with. Anyway it wasnt the lambda sensor at all it was the air flow meter. When I looked at it, it was caked with carbon I was quoted almost £200 from lexus but got one off e bay for £45 and fitted it myself and I am a woman (but I do work in a garage)If you take the number of the air flow meter prob a denso no if i remember correctly and pump it into the internet you will get a match. That was over 6 months ago now and it has worked fine since. As for the garage wanting so much ££££ thats crazy. Its simple to locate and you can look to see what state the sensor is in before you buy one. I hope this has helped

  4. Please help!

I've owned my 2007 (57) IS220D since march this year, and it has now completed 77000 miles.

It has full main dealer history upto 60000 miles, with the 70000 service being completed by a trusted local independant, following the Lexus schedule in full.

Driving up the M6 last week, the car seemed to hesitate under throttle as if being starved of fuel or similar, shortly afterwards the VSC Check / Traction Control and Engine Management lights all came on and I ended up being recovered by the AA back to my dealer in Essex.

The dealer have quoted the best part of £2000 to repair (DPNR?) the car, saying that Lexus wont contribute because its out of warranty (mileage only) and the last service wasnt completed by Lexus.

I've since spoken to Lexus customer services and they had 'no case logged'.

Has anyone else had this fault, and how was it handled by Lexus? Long is the legend of Lexus customer service, but thus far Im not feeling the love.

I appreciate I stepped outside the dealer network for the 70 k service, but hey it was half the price, and done to at least the same standard by someone I trust. Added to that it was out of warranty on the mileage side of things.

What I'm concerned about is whether this is a common eg known fault, if so I dont think I should just roll over and pay.

Since starting to type Lexus have offered to contribute, so my new bill will be £900......... Thoughts and ideas please guys

  5. Hi I have a lexus rx300 on a w reg plate I have had it for 6 years and I have to say its been fab I have never had any real probs with it at all, never had any expensive bills in the hundreds just the usual service bills. I am selling as just bought a rx400 sport. My old lexus is superb to drive the new one I have to say is not as smooth the spec inside is the same (depending on the model you go for). As far as consumption is concerned its how you drive to be honest. If you drive within the speed limit and do 60 on the motorway you will get 32mpg but if you drive fast you will reduce that considerably. I have become more aware of my driving since buying the 400 but have to say when my rx300 goes I WILL BE SAD as its been a great family car

  6. Hello not posted on here for a while but here it goes. Weve had our RX300 se-l for 18 months now and as much as we love it we've had our fair share of issues, luckily the Superb Lexus warranty covered us for as good as everything.

Looks like we may now have another issue now as one of our shocks may of gone on the front (the near side one was replaced 6 months ago) so if it has were looking at £800+ bill. If this is the case then we want shut so were after a 400h now, we love the RX car and as much as we were lucky with having the warranty, then without it we would of been nearly 4k out of pocket.

Just a few questions really before we possibly make the leap,

does the 400h SE basically have the same spec as the RX300 se-l? from what i can see it does and on the 400se-l it means you get the teles in the back.

Does the 400 have air suspension? dont want this again as this is the main reason behond our £800 bills for shocks. Also i dont think ive ever nticed the wafting experiance people go on about, only thing we may miss is the fact the car will lower down for my wife to get in (shes only 5ft haha)

Ive also looked through as good as every post on here that i can find to do with the mpg, if the figures are correct then i reckon we'll be saving nearly £150 a month on fuel. Our 300 averages 20mpg, from the majority of the threads ive read then we'll be looking at near 30 in the 400.

Hoping to get one around 06 plate with hopefully around 70k or less on the clock. Will there be anything we should look out for or avoid? When we got our 300 it had 92k on the clock and we got hit for the big service within the first year of having it so we'd like ot avoid anything like that agin.

Thanks for looking and any replies

    Ste
