  1. For my system it is as follows:

    1. Ensure Iphone is on with BT on.

    2. Switch ignition on.

    3. Wait for the notification that car and Iphone have connected via BT.

    4. Press Setup, Audio, BT Settings.

    5. Press Remove.

    6. Select the name of the phone to delete (ie previous owner's) and then Delete etc.

    7. Return to BT Settings page and press Register.

    8. Upon notification that 'BT device already connected, do you wish to disconnect it?' Press Yes.

    9. Follow the pairing instructions.

    10. Return to Audio page and select BT Auto Connection.

    11. Select Portable Player, Portable Player information.

    12. Select 'From vehicle' in the section marked 'Connection Method'

    13. Return each page to setup.

    14. Switch off and when you switch back on there should be two notifications of succesful BT connections.

After that within the list of audio devices, under Bluetooth (BT) you will have your phone. You may have to begin the Play from the actual phone as sometimes the play is not automatic, and the phone will also be available as before.

  2. I connected mine, as you have, to use the phone, then went to the section to add a portable player.

I suggest you delete the previous owner's phone first, then press the button to add a device.

The screen then changes and states something like, a device is already connected, do you want to disconnect?

Press yes, then follow the familiar pairing instructions as for using the phone, and your phone's description will appear in the info.

Switch off and now when you start everything up, there will be two notifications of a Bluetooth connection, and both the phone will work as will the music.

  3. Very straightforward. Routing the wires (I hate wires dangling) was the most difficult.

One wire has to be 'scotch locked' to the dipped beam wire, and the easiest one to access is the nearside.

The instructions state how to ensure you have the correct wire to lock to by turning on the ignition and a small light shows on the relay. I found that this did not work until the engine was actually running.

Once connected, the lights come on every time the engine starts running, and switch off when the headlamps come on (however, manually or automatically) via the relay, which is a legal requirement.

The bottom line is - it was easy.

  4. I live almost full time in France and travel in Spain a lot. Headlamp deflectors are not needed, if they have flat beams. Breathalyser(s) not needed. High viz jacket for each person in the vehicle available to be put on before leaving the vehicle, so inside the car. One triangle needed in France and two in Spain. First Aid kit is advisable but not a legal requirement. You need to have the registration document, insurance certificate, MOT (if applicable) and your driving licence with you in case of incident or being stopped by the Gendarmerie. Hope this helps.

  5. I virtually live in the South of France and the advice re the headlights is correct - no adjustment needed, but the breathaliser is no longer required as the law was rescinded in March.

If you still want one, do NOT buy one on the ferry at £5.99 but at the first Carrefour Supermarket you see for 1.

    Bon Voyage!

  6. I've had my 2009 IS250C since 2011. It was used by a Director of Lexus and has every add-on possible. I've driven it all over the UK, France, Spain and Morrocco, with no problems at all. The average mpg on a run to the south of France, where I live most of the year, is 34mpg, carrying 4 adults and luggage and with the cruise control set at 130kmh (80mph) My only criticism is the quality of the sat-nav maps and the interaction between the system and my Iphone ie voice control. As to everything else I cannot fault it. It will never be as fast as an Audi I once tried, but beats all for style and comfort. Buy one!
