  1. changes are even power loss as the holes are made in the bottom sucking in hot air away from the engine.... you are better of creating an induction kit (as you can find on this site in the downloads) or adding an extra cold air intake on the standard intake duct (has to suck the air in right behind the bumper and you'll have to drill a hole in the original air duct)

  2. it is a sports cat but the cops will not pull you over as it doesn't give that much extra engine noise it just changes the frequency it will be more base then loud ;) plus the fact that it is new will make your engine breathe better hence the fact that the engine feels more responsive. so it is not al bad news

  3. The standard exhaust system is quite well designed meaning you'll spend loads for a meagre 7 to 10 bhp..

unless you buy the stuff from eBay at auction and put it on yourself

It has no use to go cat- back that will only change the engine note from the exhaust ( no BHP gain)

you'll have to get the full system (exhaust manifold/ 200 cells sports cat/back box)

the reason for this is the cat doesn't life for ever... get a new one and you'll be amazed by the engine respons ;)

  4. well if they replace the waterpump with the 50k service yes if not you can do it yourself will cost you something in the regions of 80 quid incl some hours to change all filters, all fluids, sparkplugs and all brake pads.

I would check the timingbelt first to see if there is any weird wear on if yes, you might be better of just getting them to do the timing belt & water pump at the same time.... (also for OEM parts the prices are quite right but DIY makes owning a IS200 a lot cheaper)

  5. The wheel wrapping does require wheels that are flawless.... Thinking of the lexus OEM wheels after a few years this isn't the best option unless you are willing to DIY the wheels first and then instead of getting them painted, you cover them with the vinyl....

The only pus to this is that you don't have to wait for them to dry... have seen wrapped wheels before on cars and must be honest if you would know it you'd think they where either new or refurbished.

Would I do this to my wheels? I might depending on the state of the wheels plus the time I have to sort them out. Plus the cost per wheel is very attractive but one thing is for sure, I would pick a different colour vinyl!

ps in the video he messed up, one of the openings you can see he cut to much vinyl off messing up the finish

Thinking about it I would rather use

  6. Basically the IS300 has a 3 litre engine and auto gearbox and is heavier overall. Not by a vast amount though. Think its 1830kg and 1955kg. Personally I dont know if the suspension is any different, could well be.

When a car has a heavier engine manufacturers always make sure the springs are stiffer both in the front and in the rear.

  7. Thanks!! Do you think that just the K&N panel filter + the Magnaflow muffler + a 200 cell cat would be a good setting for a daily ride? It shouldn't have problems when doing the emissions test, right?

you will not have problems getting it through MOT as all these changes actually make sure you have a good working exhaust... ( might be more free flowing but still incorporates a proper catalytic converter (200 cells is bigger then the original anyway)

  8. If the Battery isn't the problem then it is has to be the ground cable on the Battery.... meaning that you can sort that with the grounding kit that is available through eBay..... this is not just a IS200 problem, I have seen this on many cars and it is either the Battery or the ground cable ( with the other cars it was easy enough to get an oem ground cable replacement with the IS i didn't bother as the cable disappears in the big engine wiring loom)

  9. the upgrade would be to put is300 shocks and springs in..

but if you can find a spring manufacturer they could make you up something special that fits properly and will have the upgrade you wanted

next up is to change your setup to coilover suspension this will be able to carry some extra weight but will not be all that much extra ( think maximum of 100 kg on top of what the car can carry)

alternative(but very expensive) is change the suspension to air suspension (you can specify how much strength you want the bags to be able to carry) or even hydraulic suspension
