Yep got to admit the RX8 does like very nice for the money :D

This has probably been done before, but here goes anyway. If you didn't have your Lexus, which other car would you buy to give you the same amount of excitment and satisfaction as your Lexus does?

Just been reading this thread and thought I should put some facts into the fray.
The cost new for a 01 51 BMW 330i SE Auto was £27310. You would have had to add at the very least leather and a CD player costing £1700, making it a £29,000 purchase. Cap Black Book, an industry standard, puts the value in a clean condition at £14300 for 22,000 miles. This represents a loss of £14700 or it being worth 49.3% of it’s original cost.
The figures for the IS300 are: New £25995, no extras and £13200. This means a loss of £12795, nearly £2000 less than the BMW and 50.8% of it’s original cost. The IS300 would still have much more spec.
I am not sure where you live but I would be happy to talk to you about buying it.
That's an excellent explanation thanks :D

Thanks for the encouragement, I am not letting it go for the price the dealer wants to pay that's for sure :D

Im sure all the people on the site are pleased that because their car is Red it will fetch less money. Funny I dont recall getting a discount when I bought it because it is in Red

TUBRO/SUPERCHARGE IT B)
I think i have lost enough money on the Lexus already without throwing good money after bad, besides the 300 is plenty quick enough in its standard form. :shutit:

Its done 22,000 and has warranty till November might try to sell it on E-Bay. Every one I have talked to has said, I will struggle to get rid of it as Lexus cars dont sell, and don't hold their value. Wish I had known this when I bought it. I thought they were a rare site on the roads because they were exclusive, not unpopular

Thats what I think. I put it in the buy and sell section yesterday. It,s a shame becuse the car is in showroom condition, and I know for a fact that dealers are selling them on the forecourt for £16k+ if anyone made me a reasonable offer I woulsd sell.

I'm very dissapointed in the reaction from dealers when it comes to giving me a PX value on my 51 reg Red IS300. It cost 19k about 18months ago. The best offer I have had is 11k. Thats not good for a car i was told would hold its value. As nice s the car is I wished I had stuck with a BMW, as even though I don't think their product is as good, similar cars hold there value better. I wonder if any members would like to comment on this

Think I will try and sell it on the LOC site but I can't find how to do it for free as a Gold Memeber, it keeps taking me to the PayPal screen. Can anyone tell me how to do it

Hi, I am thinking of selling my Lexus IS300 it's Scarlati Red with FLSH in showroom condition. Registered in Nov 2001 its done 21000. How much do you think I should ask if I sell it private. The only reason I ask is because I can't find any of similar spec and reg to get an idea from.It doesn't even appear in the Glasse's guide. Any help would be most appreciated

Count me in too. Was thinking of getting one anyway

Is there any performance benefit in reseting the ECU on the IS300

The plate is made to look like LEXY ?

Off topic I know. But I was at Lexus Nottingham yesterday having number plates fitted, and in the customers car park was a customised blue Lexus IS with a very distinctive number plate. I have seen a picture of it on the site somewhere.

Hi I am thinking about painting my brake callipers. One thing puzzles me though. The callipers already seem to be painted with a clear lacquer. I expected them to be bare metal. Can I paint straight over the lacquer, or do I need to remove it first, and if so any ideas how? :duh:

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll knock that idea in the head. The thing with the Lexus is it's so full of toys and so nicely finished it's hard to know how to improve it

Hello everybody I’m a newbie so be gentle. Had the car for two weeks and love it. first mod I am thinking about is clear rear fogs anyone had any experience buying and fitting them. Is it worth purchasing the red LED's at the same time, and how do you think they would look on a red car ?

Well just to let you know that all's well that end's well. Sold the Lexus on E-Bay of all places for £14100, which considering dealers were offering between 9k and 11.5k is quite a result. The moral of the tale is don't believe anything a dealer tells you about colour/spec etc, there's always someone out there who is after exactly what you have to sell. If the person that bought the car is reading this I hope it brings you as much pleasure as it did me, and you got a car that a dealer would have charged you another 2k for :D :D :D
