  1. have a look in the archive tech tips there is info on there to cancel all keys except the one you have in the ignition. You then have to add additional keys as you want them.

this will prevent them opening the car with the remote button and they'll have to use the key, which will unlock the door but send the alarm screaming and wailing into orbit.

Alternatively get a tracker fitted let them take it and let the coppers nab'em. (don't know if i would want to do that!)

  2. 2001 (Think its the same) is 1920-1930mm mirror tip to tip just measured it for you! mirrors fold in though on the button. which will give you some extra for getting through the door then open 'em up again.

Can't you just measure yours? Dont try to measure it on the out side, sit in the seat with the windows down and feed your tape across.

    :phone:

  3. I got mine done in my local little cobblers at the indoor market £5 works a treat.

Its one of those flip out key ones from eBay £11 (ish) and althought its reletively cheaply made its ok, it just needed a bit of foam packing underneath the the internals to keep the buttons pushed up firm and prevent them moving around.

Oh I'd also recommend a steak and stilton pie from the butchers on the corner (near wilkos) in Huntingdon, They're the best I've had.

  4. yes, Avoid at all costs "Attock japanese salvage" on the parts gateway website.

I was woundering where and how I could post such a thing for everyones attention. Please let me know if there is such a thing.

I think its a credit card scam or ID fraud. I've taken the appropriate measures to protect myself.

  5. Got one off lexus parts gateway £36 posted. should arrive Tues (alledgedly).

my manual say's that they shouldn't be used for towing as it will compromise that handling of the car but if your going to......

it clearly states max 450kg unbraked (which I think is very low) or 1200kg braked whick is ok for a decent size braked trailer or smaller caravans, I have a ABI 4 berth which is 1050kg so it'll walk that.

    I'll keep you informed.

  6. I bought mine last week. £3500.51 plt, mint, 70k, flsh, Battery (the original) goosed but he's buying me a new one. had new pads and discs up front and its had the belts done 4k ago.

I've had a few toyotas and they've always been 100% so I'm confident.

as others have said the motor is proven so no worries there.

I would highly recommend the is300 sx. it would apear that some members are chucking quite a bit of cash at thier is200's just to get it to the same power and spec as the is300.

    the auto box drives faultless.

Just my opinion but I hope it helps.

  7. Hi Lee.

I need to tow also, but I'm struggling to find a towbar for a is300 sportcross but I've found one in the states. My owners manual gives all the relevent data for towing weights so I know it can and will, it just seems witter and the other popular makes in the uk don't cater for the sportcross, only for the saloon.

I'm trying to get a shipping price off the guy in the states, but as long as he's not silly it'll still work out about the same as they charge here for the saloon.

I'd start buy checking your owners manual first anhd see what that say's about towing with your model.

    Hope that helps.

    Mark

  8. Hi Folks,

Just bought me a IS300 sportcross.

I didn't really set out to buy a lexus I was just after a reliable auto estate. searching around LED me to the lexus and I'm very glad it did. FSH, 70k, imaculate in and out.

after travelling 60miles to see it and after a 1/2 hour drive the decision was very simple.

I had a nosey on the forum before I went to view the car and found it quite good at a quick glance. So there you go, I thought i'd join up.

Now I've a couple of questions for you:

    1. I would like a towbar and a eBay search has throw some up but they state not for sportcross....anyone got one, any info?

    2. My tyres are ok at the mo, but I've got goodyears on the front and uniroyals on the back. Can anyone tell me the best tyres to go for

I dont want sticky track tyres, some thing that wears well but doesn't break away too easy.....if you know what I mean.

    3. anyone know where I can get a good boot liner?

    4. Anything to watch out for?

    Thats it for now, :winky:

    Thanks, Mark.
