When I first got my car last Easter I was dissaponted with the fuel consumption and didn't feel the batteries were doing their job. After a bit of research I found that you could 'reset' the battery levels and control system. After that there was a definite improvement in the mpg and only a couple of weeks ago I achieved my best ever run of an indicated 34.7mpg over my 100 mile journey to work. My conclusion is that by far the biggest factor impacting fuel consumption is my right foot and it's taken a concerted effort to alter my driving style to achieve what I would term 'reasonable' economy.

    Hey There

can you please advise how I can do the reset?

     Thanks

  2. Thought I'd follow up on this thread. Contacted dealer and was told the later grille will fit. I realised it was the grille from a 2009 400h that I'd seen and liked so ordered one of these. (Had to order a new badge too as it's bigger on the 400) Fitted last night and looks great.

Interesting thing is though, the parts dept. checked and told me these grilles are no longer in production! He was as amazed as me as they're for 2009 cars? After a lot of searching he eventually managed to source one for the Russian market. Thought I'd pass this on as if any 400 drivers have a front end ding, they'll be told they won't be able to get a new grille for it, so tell the dealer to look up the Russian spec. and they should be able to order for you. Was delivered in 2 days and the badge had to be sent from Belgium.

Can I ask what the cost was?

  3. Buy and enjoy.

All the inverters subject to failure were covered by a recall and the auxiliary battery is a known issue and not expensive if a nuisance.

Beyond that the car has no especial vices, failures will occur on individual vehicles and, as with any car, can be expensive (or cheap). However no patterns of failure are known to worry about.

I have taken the plunge and picked the car up today! So far very happy, the power is just crazy :-)

I'm thinking of getting a service plan from my dealer and have been quoted £560 for 2 services. Does anyone think this is a good price?

  4. The battery 'fault' is just the aux battery which doesn't have enough capacity to last more than 2 weeks before going flat. Not heard of hybrid battery issues. The inverter was recalled on certain vehicles (2004 to 2006), hardly any actually failed.

If you do a lot of high speed/motorway driving then don't expect to see more than 30mpg

Thanks for response. The car will mainly be used around town, school runs, shopping etc.

  5. Hi Guys

New to the forum and looking for some advise.

I'm looking to purchase a RX400h SE 79k, with full Lexus history.

I've never had a so called "prestige car" and I'm a bit nervous about the cost of any repairs or unforeseen issues. Ive read about a few problems with Battery and inverter faults!

I really like the car and found this to have the best MPG figures of the large 4x4's.

I would really appreciate your comments and especially from someone who moved up from a standard car and how they found the increase in cost.

    Thanks
