  1. I agree with sam, phoned main dealer in Reading on monday to order my gearbox oil strainer (filter) and was told by the parts sales person just to wash out my old filter. I was shocked by this and told the person to just listen to my request and just order me a new filter.

To answer your other question there is no recomended auto box oil change interval, and if you do want it done should be no more than £220.00 from main dealer.

  2. As I work on a lot of LS cars must say that i have changed quite a few radiators as the gearbox oil cooler fails. Fortunately for my customers all of the symptoms was detected early enough and only had gearbox oil in the cooling system and no coolant in the gearbox. In my opinion it would not matter what anti freeze you use if the gearbox oil cooler fails it is not due to corrosion but fails on the joints and seams.

  3. Sorry taking so long to post this but here we go. Last week i finally installed my Parrot mki 9200 into my mk4 LS400.

Once you have the kit you will need either one of two wire connector looms to make this work, one is the standerd Toyota Iso lead, part no pc2-17-4,(use this iso connector for non parrot products) or the one i have used plugs straight into the Parrot mki9200 kit part no inka-048-7640. (for this loom you wil have to cut two wires before installation)

Move the drivers seat forward on your LS400 (from 1992 to 2000) and make shore you have a pioneer amp fitted under the seat if you have good, that means you do not have a premuim sound system. To the left side of the amp is the two white connectors you want disconnect these, you will see that the loom you just bought will plug straight onto the amp and wire loom of the car. Carry on with the installatiion of the kit as per manufacturers instructions.

For both of these iso looms you wil need to wire in the ignition feed as there is only one power feed from the amp to the red wire, on the inka-048-7640 the is a blue wire fused, cut this wire after the fuse and wire up to ignition feed from the back of the stereo.

on the pc2-17-4 this is the orange wire.

To mute the rest of the audio system you have to feed in the yellow wire to the mute (wire Blue) behind the stereo system or if you have satnav fitted it is also the light blue wire behind the lower part of the satnav system.

In most cases i had to extend the loom cos the amp is under the seat and not near the stereo itself.

    AUX IN

If this is al you want then the best way is to get an fm modulator. This unit simply plugs into your ariel and power supply, tune in the correct radio frequency and of you go.

This will give you a general idea of what to do and need. Any further help just ask !!!!!

  4. Hi every body, yes I finally fitted my parrot mki 9200 to my mk4 ls400 yesterday. Yes it did not go without problems but all sorted and working great.

The sound is excellent with handsfree and streaming music, the only downfall with any of these sort of systems is that it will never work trough the sub woofer, the sound quality is so good and the rest of the speakers in the car is of top quality that I hardly notice the difference. I can post detail for all the diy'ers if you are interested, just let me know. :phone:
