  1. Hi Everyone,

Yes, it's the sliding center bit that is the problem. I know how to get the console off the floor (thanks IanS200), but cant find any screws to remove the wood trim from the plastic - basically I want to carbon wrap the wood trim, and to get a good finish I need to get the trim off the plastic. I've done the section around the gear shift and the heated seat controls, and it looks very nice.

    Regards,

    Simon

  2. Hi,

In answer to Sebster80, I think you will find that tyres for 4x4's have re-enforced sidewalls, due to the extra lateral (rolling sideways) forces on the tyre wall (high center of gravity) It's the same on my people carrier, you have to have the re-enforced tyre. If you don't, and you have an accident, a sharp eyed insurance assessor is likely to notice, and we know how that will end . . . :eerrrmm:

When you say "passenger tyre" that will be for a car only, not a 4x4. It doesn't matter if you are going off road or not. There is probably more strain on the sidewall going round a curve at 70 mph than off-roading at walking speed.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

  3. I had a similar problem but in the rear passengers footwell. It was running from the rear boot well across the rear axle and into the rear passenger footwell, helped by our driveway being on a slight forward incline. Eventually traced the leak to rear the nearside bodywork below the light cluster. At this point 2 pieces of bodywork overlap but are not welded. There is also no sealant across the join, and the gap is only about 1mm. I tried mastic to no avail so put a thin layer of car body filler across the gap, and since then, touch wood, no more water.

    Hope this helps :-)

  4. Hi Everyone,

In an effort to improve the overall fuel economy on our 2004 RX 300 (Mk 2) I have been surfing the web and the owners manual on the subject of overdrive. The owners manual says it's fitted, but unlike the Mk 1, there is no switch.

So my question is "how do I engage overdrive when cruising on the motorway ?" or will the car select it by itself ?

I've looked through the forum but I seem to have failed to find the answer.

Also - anyone had a re-map to improve economy - or is it a myth that the economy can be improved by re-mapping.

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    Regards
