I've check other forums and spoke with some mechanics - everywhere same answer - only DPF emulator....so if someone is offering remap for is220d the best way would to avoid that 'companies' even for break pads replacement...
another interesting thing is that I've read some stories about unwanted side effect after modification - like for instance white smoke from exhaust ???

I've tried to contact Peter from P&P Autos but he is on holiday and be will be back after New Years...
Meanwhile I've done little Internet research for DPF removing companies in Somerset and surronding area and I came across two completely different statements referring ECU reprogramming in Lexus IS220d ?!
- According to some 'experts' in the business ECU is fully reprogrammable
- or : ECU is currently impossible to remap - no software / hardware available on market - instead use DPF emulator
So what is the real answer?? Do I have to use DPF emulator?

You were absolutely right Shigo....I know...I know...you've told me...I like to check things myself but same time I do appreciate your opinion - I went for full DPFregeneration and unfortunately fault keep coming back!!!!!!!!!! :megaangry:
DPF filter regeneration is waste of time!
-
thanks Shigo for answer,
List of the mods you've implemented is impressive, I'm sure that driving your lexus is a pure pleasure ;)
Currently I'm considering complete removal (answer from the Dorset dealer = over £2300 ! for new one!) but before that I was looking into the regen first. Have you tried to regenerate DPF filter? or that is just waste of time?
Thanks as well for directing to yours thread about the is220d mods ... I found some more recommendations for p&p autos on this forum, seems to be a good choice...
-
Thanks Dennis for your advice, I must say that sounds very optimistic..., if that would solve the problem, ok on MOT and more power! YES YES YES :)
...but my nature is a bit more sceptic and I would like to get some more info about regen first, If that would fail ... then defenetly I'm not going to buy new DPF filter!

Hi I got answer from local Lexus dealer regarding new DPF filter fitting:
worst case scenario is going to be about £2340.00 inc vat if the O2 pipes and EGT sensors need replacing as they can weld themselves into the DPF, if they come out ok you will be looking at about £1460.00 inc vat
It was fairly new vehicle, I know that it wasn't cheap but I'm quite sure you wouldn't expect that Lexus engineers would make such a f**k-up designing exhaust system for those great cars... Are they having a laugh?!
I don't think I have to explain why I'm looking for an alternative route ...

Hi Forum Members,
I'm afraid my little baby is220d is suffering from constant problems - I think related to the dpf filter . I've read on this forum a couple of threads and it looks like my case is typical (well I hope is not a common fault because I always had solid opinion about lexus engineers...) a complete removal sounds like a major operation and not quite sure about that... why would you remove something that was design/fitted by a specialists for a good reason...?
Currently I'm waiting to hear a quote from the local lexus dealer for the new filter fitting but I don't expect a realistic figure ...
Should I go for the full regeneration process or remove DPF completely from the exhaust system?
Any advice or guidance are welcome.

does it smell a bit like a good old chip-shop? ;)

Thanks bluenose1940 for pointing me into the right direction (I must missed that one ;))
I was just wondering is any way to remove valve from the system or bypass it ?

Hi Steve,
I'm driving IS220d and must admit must best car ever :)

If you driving around the UK I don't thinks winter tyres are necessary, people intent to panic when temperature occasionally dropping down and start shopping for winter tyres but bear in mind that will wear out a lot quicker during rest of the seasons because are made from different grader materials

I had recently some problems with famous EGR valve... ;(
While reading the forum I found a couple of threads ref the EGR and I decided to check what is under my bonnet (very similar symptoms)... and what I expected 'the layer of carbon dust' looked like coal mine !!!EGR completely black and block by that filth. I don't suspect previous owner looked up to clean the valve before...
Can any of the forum members give me some advice how to prevent that..if that is possible...
Many thanks
