  1. Well guys I have finally given up my ct 200h and traded it in for a 'Mercedes Eclass cdi' and have to admit I'm not disappointed. I know it's a totally different car by comparison but obviously the smaller car was not for me.

I've had my gripes on this forum and have received loads of good an positive advise from other members to help with some of the problems I encountered.

I will keep checking the forum from time to time as a matter of interest and thanks to you all and wish you a merry Christmas.

Sounds like you should have done your homework before buying the car! - Did someone have a gun to your head when you signed the paperwork!?

Oops sorry Dan did I touch a nerve.

I was only replying to the original post re the question asked by Si_is200 and gave my twopence worth.

Apparently I didn't do my home work very stupid of me.

Why not? its not exactly a bad car and AFAIK, its being made into an SUV anyway

Well mine didn't have cruise control (had to be retro fitted), no electric folding mirrors, no tow-bar available in UK (got one in USA), no spare wheel (located one an now fitted), uncomfortable ride (hard suspension?), not impressed with the mpg, bad all-round visual, awkward to get out of driving seat (for the missus), expensive to update satnav  (not alone to Lexus).

Apart from that lot, it's a lovely looking car and has a great interior.

  4. Totally agree with the over priced extra to have this item fitted. A 'Lexus' should have this as standard. Money grabbing cheapskate bas...ds. Mine didn't even have cruise control fitted as standard, although the wires were in place to have it retro fitted.

  5. Hi Guys

There's been loads of info on this and I've tried to get the best mpg without getting too anal about it, so I've now continued to drive as I would drive a "normal" (not hybrid) motor and I don't believe the hybrid saves any more juice than any other car driven with consideration.

Check out fuelly.com and look at the ct200h results (some are American so take that into account)

  6. No problem Anthony.

As explained I only tow maximum for one mile each way with the (5 metre open) boat on the back admittedly it's quite flat both ways.

Theres no strain on the motor can't see what all the fuss is about. If it was a 12 metre motor cruiser I could understand.

Got my tow bar form USA, surely if there was any problems with fitting one of these that manufacturer would have been penalised for making and fitting.

  7. Well guys

Just an update on the tow bar saga.

I have taken the plunge, located and ordered, received and fitted a tow bar.

Purchased from USA: AutoAnything. Model: Curt receiver hitch with euro 2" ball mount pin and clip. Part #112002 Cost $124.99

Only problem they don't ship out of the USA so I got my mate to get it shipped for me at a cost of £90.00.

It took 20 minutes to fit the four bolts in the locating holes already drilled by the manufactures of Lexus. (Can't understand why they don't supply one as the holes are there to take a tow bar)

As previously mentioned my needs are for transporting a small boat to the beach twice a year for about a mile.

  8. Well I'm glad I wasn't following behind you Tim.

Jokes aside check out fuelly.com I have submitted my results with each fill up and my best mpg is 39.1 with nine fill ups.

I definitely don't drive like Miss Daisy, but do gun it on the autopiste in Europe.

My location has a max. speed limit 40mph.

Pick the bones out of that.

  9. Come on everybody..

If you've got someone on your arse at 20mph, 70ph or 90 mph, ask yourself: are you keeping to the speed limit or the speed you want to drive at without thinking about the car behind you.

Just pull over and let him pass.

Slow/one speed drivers cause anger/accidents to others.

  10. Have you considered Anger Management sessions?

Especially in a 20mph zone, even if the tailgater did run into the back of you (which is extremely unlikely), the damage is likely to be minimal and would be their fault. Enforcing the law is a job for the police, not you.

Perhaps you should concentrate more on your own driving and less on the car behind you. You would be a calmer and safer driver for it - rather than deliberately trying to orchestrate an accident, which is what your current behaviour is likely to do.

A bit harsh on the first sentence Phil..totally agree on the rest.

Maybe the fuel saving theme is part of the problem.

Hey if you want to see who needs anger management check out Arthur Vines on youtube. Wow.

  11. Frightening cost really when you consider its around 80 mins to do and parts can be bought for around £80.

Even at £70 hour you should only be looking at £200 - £250. Parts are also Toyota parts but with Lexus stamped on.

I won't be paying it that's for sure. My son is Lexus technician but not working there now. Will get him to do it and just pay for hybrid system check @ £50.

    Totally agree with you Adam.

That's the way to go, and they didn't even charge me for the hybrid system check.

  12. Well I got my ct back from it's 'full' service last night from the main Lexus/Toyota dealer.

    The mileage was: 21,114

    Small breakdown as follows

    Labour: £211.60

    Materials: £146.76

    2 wiper rubbers: £ 20.19

    £378.55

    Less 10% £ 37.75

    Plus GST (VAT) @ 5% £ 18.93

    Total: £359.63

Ready for the drive down to Spain after boxing day.

Will try and keep an eye on the mpg.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

    Mick

  13. I don't think this one has been covered yet.

How do service costs compare from region to region or are they pretty standard?

I'm dropping my 2011 CT200h in tomorrow and have been quoted about £350.00 inclusive of 5% GST (similar to VAT)

    My region is Jersey
