  1. Hi Omeo....fairly new IS200 owner here aw well. Mine was exactly the same as Chris' and Petay's. I thought I had a leak and was putting in neat antifreeze and it disappearing.....a good week will see it settle and now mine is stable. Guess like all Lexus' they've been a little neglected and just ran and levels not been checked etc.

  2. Hi gang....tackled the front fogs today as bulbs were gone, new LED's to bang in !!

Totally agree with it's a pain job, but not too bad once you get going!! Did the 2 bolts on the side only to find its held it by a clip on the other side of the light. So through the wheel arch I went and because the bulb was corroded in the unit I had to get out. Unit just needs some persuasion from the clip and a tug and it's out!! Pretty easy really !!

Put the new bulb in but the unit is corroded on the inside and all the reflective material has gone! Other side was no better! The back of the unit had completely corroded away 😄

So has anyone a spare set knocking about for a fee.....they seem a bit overpriced on eBay or is that the norm??

    Catch you all soon !

  3. Hi all....I know this subject has been probably flogged to death, but I'm a recent 'newbie' who has limited mechanical knowledge and is wanting to do a DIY Oil and Filter Change to my IS200.

I've read various things about accessing the filter and would like an up to date view from the guys in 'the know'!!

    1. Do I need a special filter removal tool or will any old wrench do?

    2. Best way to access?

    3. Any 'How to Guide' on here ( cos I can't find one! )

    4. Do I need a sump plug washer?

    5. Recommended Oil ?

    Thanks in advance guys !

  4. Hi gang....using my passenger side window recently, it decided to fall off its runner and I managed to physically guide it back shut.

On investigation it seems the plastic runner holder things that are attached to the glass bottom are broken hence falling off the runners!

Anyone know what these plastic bits are called so I can go order some ?

    Thanks lads

  5. Hi gang.....2nd week with the Lexus and I've forgotten already about my Vectra diesel!

Loving the IS200 and learning as I go! A trip to Manchester yesterday and my girlfriend decided to wind the passenger side window down....and 2/3's of the way back up it came off the runner....managed to manually place it shut. It's since dropped down 2 inches or so and I've had to tape it shut up until I can sort it out.

Is this a common problem with the IS200 and is there a guide to removing door panels etc??

    Thanks in advance

  6. Hiya gang....2 weeks onto my Lexus ownership (IS200) so I thought I'd share some info!!

My coolant expansion tank was empty when I first got my Lexus and despite some repeated top ups it kept disappearing and I was getting a tad worried because there was no obvious leak!! It must of been low because now after a trip up to Manchester from Derby and back today after checking.....it's still full !!

    YeeeAaaahhhhh !! ;-)

Great advice from you guys to just keep filling cos eventually it'll level up !!

So it looks like fingers crossed....it was just working round and getting air out the system!

Thought I'd share my experiences !!!

But hang on.....that's sorted but on the way home the gf used the passenger window and it fell out of its runner!! Managed to put it back up but on shutting the door it drops about 2 inches so I've had to tape it up till I get chance to sort it at the weekend!!

Anyone know if it's an easy job ??

    Cheers guys

  7. Hi gang....has been a pleasant 1st week with my Lexus. Sorted the tramlining out....tyres were 15 psi lower than what they should have been....new wipers....and a good valet inside and out.

I checked the coolant and thanks to the lads on here found out where and how to do it. There was nothing in the header tank so filled it back up to level with half a litre of antifreeze....happy days. Checked it this morning and again it's empty so topped up to level....although it didn't take much. Sat there and ran the car to temp (just under half way on gauge) and watched the header tank returning the water etc turned it off and still water in the header tank. Engine has done 125k with nearly full service history and is in pristine condition with no leaks or anything. No goo underneath the oil cap and nothing on the dipstick. Heaters red hot and engine warms up quickly and has stable temp.

Any ideas?? Are IS200's prone to head gaskets....or leaks or anything??

    Thanks in advance

    Adam

  8. Hiya newbie here yet again seeking advice from you clever people!!

Was checking fluids yesterday and was wondering how to you check the coolant on an IS200. Can't find a header tank so presume if must be one of the two radiator caps to fill up. Is it the one on the left or the right as you stand in front of the car with the bonnet up? Is the a 'level' too?

    Thanks lads

  9. Hiya gang.....again. Just a few days into my Lexus experience and just picking brains.

    1. Whilst going to work last night traction control on my IS200 auto kicked in nicely but was making a bit if a racket from the rear. Is it supposed to be slightly noisey?

    2. Steering was slightly 'notchy' from cold start up and is slightly notchy the rest of the time too. Levels seem ok fluid wise might be a few mm below minimum level.

Any ideas on the above ! ?

Thank you in advance ! ;-)

  10. Thanks lads....yeah just been having a potter about and closer inspection as you do!!

I've never seen an engine bay that's so clean....looks like its come out of the factory!

Oh and how easy to change the bulbs etc....Vectra was fiddly and a right pain in the arse. Only let down I can find now is the interior just needs scrubbing up to my standards!!

Will check the bulbs though and get myself a handbook. Just thought there'd be one on here in PDF form......had one on my Iphone for the Vectra.

    Thanks a lot fellas ;-)

  11. I purchased my new IS200 yesterday after part ex'ing my Vectra C. I've got a lovely car now with SH up to 100k (done 124k) with all the car pack except the owners manual....the book that tells you to operate things etc.

In my checking of all the important things.....I didn't check the front fogs....and although the dash light lights up....no front fogs. Headlight washers and everything else works.

Can anyone advise....ie where to check the fuses and point me in the right direction as to whether there is a PDF Owners Manual that I can download at all?

    Cheers guys
