  1. Well I guess getting a 2.1 from Kings College Oxford when Everyone had predicted me getting a 1st class hons degree in Law is not much to be sad about really.

Its more that the hopes and dreams of the family felt like they were all riding on this event. First generation to go to College and all that. Don't talk about this much now, but I was born in the Caravan that my folks were living in so it was a quantum leap back then.

Anyway, they were all really looking forward to me graduating top of my class and in the end I fluffed it and narrowly missed a Desomond! Something else we don't talk of now

Guess I have a lot more to be thankful for than I have regret. folks live in the lodge house on our grounds so we can treasure the time we know is precious.

    Dave,

always leaving the house on good note is a great way to live. Thanks for reminding us of the important things.

  2. yes, very effective. But one has to wonder if a little CCTV on his driveway would have allowed him to find the people/person who did this and stop them from costing others a fortune.

If anything like that happend to our cars I'd want some justice. Honestly. I'd rather ours went and were never seen again, than be confronted by £50k worth of scrap in the morning.

Is chopping their hands off really too severe?

  3. For a while now we have taken a leaf from the book of our yank cousins. Thus a chap in funy little Van comes to the house weekly and does 3 cars for £14 each in and out like new. Much better than queuing up at those converted petrolstation places. After seeing a spotty youth drop the chamois and then pick it up without rinsing and applying it to a 52 plate Rav4 I would never risk it.

(rhumour has it the Mrs once took LS through a BP car wash after a muddy trip. She didn't get any that night, I can tell you!)

  4. our old XKR (before it blew BOTH head Gaskets ) looked a little like the DB7 as the Westminster Kit had been ftted to the front end and rear bumper. Great looking Car but would not have said it looked like a Soarer.

Soarer looks very elegant I'll grant you. but the lines are as related as Hillman Imp and a Bristol Beaufighter.

  5. As much we like the LS we do find sometimes that it tramlines a bit on B roads and litle A roads. There are plenty of these in Thames Valley it seems.

Is this common and is there a cure?

    Susspension settings?

    Tyre Choice?

    bigger wheels?

    Smaller Wheels?

Can be a little frightening when there is someone coming the other way. Dealers assure that their is no known fault. At the risk of being beaten with sticks. Vonny's old XJ8 never did this.

  6. Yes, we left the LS at Heathrow for 20 days and when We returned it had a flat Battery. Once started it was fine and has been since, but there was no satisfactory explanation as to why a very expensive car should not beable to start after near three weeks. My old Maxi would stand for 3-4 months outside and still fire up on the 1st or second turn over...

I think is one for Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys.

  7. Hi,

We've just ordered our 2nd LS430 and will be "Xantialess of Thame" just as soon as it arrives. No kids to mess up the back seats. No hobbies as life is too short to do anything but work and Sleep.

Looking forward to enjoying your forum though, seems exciting!
