Hi Keleko .
Have you solved your problem with the navigation lines ? I am asking you because i bought a mini vci cable and i tried it tonight on my car and on the techstream software there is an option to customize the display where you can select the lines to be on or off and i was thinking it might be possible to activate them.
Hi doro708,
I keep meaning to pop to the local Lexus dealer to have a look but as I'm self employed and work 6 days a week it's hard to get out unless it's important so no I've not had a chance.
Where have you gotten this cable from so I can get hold of one?
-
Well i get about 27-28 but i do mostly short runs about 7 miles each way to work and when i finish i spend a couple of minutes stuck in traffic . I reckon a good service , good tyres and tyre pressure and that's it for better mpg , other than that you can't do much.
I do about a 12 mile round trip 6 days a week. I've got Pirelli on the front and Uniroyal on the back, just pumped all my tyres up to 35psi so we shall see if that helps. MOT is due in march so will get a good service done too.

Thanks Keleko .
I am still enjoying it so far but i still have to do a lot of things to be exactly as it should be . Recently i changed the air filter with a K&N one , next friday it will be in for a service with the Lexus Ipswich dealer , in 2 weeks it will have the windscreen replaced . I also order some bonnet struts because i think mine are a bit weak and a mini vci Toyota cable with software just for fun. I also think i need to have my alloys refurbished or replaced because they are corroded and on the front left is losing some pressure but soon it will be done everything .
Regarding the speed yes it is something totally new for me and i enjoy it especially with such a decent fuel economy but i think i would like to be in the LS a bit more than in the GS :P
The LS is nice but it's just a bit big for me when it comes to parking. It does, however, have a few more toys which I would have liked to have seen on mine.
My GS doesn't seem to be that great on the mpg but then again I don't drive like a saint. I get around 23 round town so I think I may need a good service to see if I can bring it up.

Welcome to the club Adrian.
I've had mine for about 4 months now and love it to bits. It annoys my dad that mine is faster than his LS600h hehehe

Why, when overtaking on a dual carriageway does the bloke in the car next to you always put his foot down? Had this happen to me again this morning on the way to work. A '62' plate E class Mercedes driver just floored it as I was passing him. Perhaps these people can't bear the thought of being 'outdone' by an old Lexus. Anyway, without thinking, I floored it too.. Result? Old 'W' plate Lexus, 1, new '62' plate Merc, nil. The Lexy pulled well ahead and stayed there. These cars can really shift. (My apologies to Mr. Plod).
and these cars do it so effortlessly and quietly - ill say it again - these cars are "quietly brilliant"!
To steal HTC's tagline ;)
yes - but its so appropriate lol
True, I had an MG ZT (BMW diesel) before my hybrid. It's incredible how quiet they are especially when stopped at traffic lights.

I was a little nervous but floored it anyway when the lights changed..... long story short, I had nowt to worry about..... Lexus wins again

Ca someone please share how to changr the wipers as when I lift mine up they get caught on the bonnet and then when I try to take the blade off it will not turn enough before touching the screen
I looked a right wally trying to do this yesterday
Wipers are normally easy but I struggled with this one and they are still not done !!!
I got caught out the same way but you can ease them up, unclip them, place the arm against the screen gently and them clip on the new blades.

I got these 'Bosch AR24U & AR19U Aerotwin Retrofit Flat Windscreen wiper blades' and I'm more than happy with them. eBay are a little cheaper and they took less than 5 mins to fit.

Take look at this http://www.caradvice.com.au/14639/toyota-prius-the-taxi-champion.
There are very few stories anywhere of hybrid battery problems.
Honestjohn (UK) tells of Glasgow taxis covering 400,000 plus miles without problems.
Try a Hybrid on test and see what you think.....it`s incredible motoring, but not as economical as you might think, but certainly significantly more economical than any 3.5 litre petrol engine.
Happy motoring.
Regards
John
I agree, the feeling of instant power is addictive. Also don't expect the promised 30mpg round town, you'll get closer to 23mpg but a lot better than the 16mpg from other petrol engines.

How long has the Prius been out now? The Battery technology has improved leaps and bounds.
I personally went hybrid because of the better fuel economy, lower road tax and of course the the 6 second 0-60
-
This site sounds like the site for you ;) - http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/

You have one in the boot too? On the IS there is only one battery. I'm sure it will be just the one under the bonnet mate
I have the hybrid, I will have to check with my mechanic on that one then.
-
No just follow the guide. Don't forget to do your drives window too. I didn't do it, the window will still work but won't "auto" close or open
I have one final silly question. It's Battery in the boot that I'm disconnecting, not the one under the bonnet, right?
-
yep its one or the other i guess
power or mpg,but saying that these new diesel engines are very good and very quick
but you will never get that v8 feel
Yeah some of the new audi's are looking really fast and efficient, but you're right nowt like a V8. My dad has the 5ltr V8 600h and that sounds epic, too big for me, I'm happy with my 3.5 V6
-
well am used to a v8 or 2.5 twin turbo soarer so no problem to me
but for a heavy car and 4.3 v8 it will do 30mpg on a run which is good
Yeah the GS will do 40 but the diesel used to do nearer 60, which was wicked on a long run but then again it used to do 0-60 in 10 secs as opposed to 5.9 = big smiles :D

hi greg
thanks mate :)
Always wanted an SC but can't cope with the mpg, I've come from a diesel and it's bad enough with a hybrid lol
-
Very nice, welcome on board :hocus-pokus:

There is a guide in the How To section mate
Thanks, I assume you mean this one? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/200-initializing-windows-after-battery-change/
Is there anything else I need to do or not do?

Unplug the negative battery lead and leave for 2 hours or overnight as most people do - connect it back up then drive the car as you would normally do and the ECU will learn your driving habits and adjust the engine accordingly.
It will be a bit "sluggish" at first while it gathers the info but will settle down. You will need to reset your electric windows / radio channels but that's not hard to do.
I sound like a total fool here but how do you reset electric windows?

Lot of other posts have suggested that aux cables had an issue of deteriorated sound quality. I'm using the Belkin aux cable and can confirm that that the sound quality is near to the CD. Just in case, if you want to use the aux cables as this isn't very clear in any posts that I have seen in the past
It's true, if you buy cheap you get nasty. A good quality cable should give a cleaner sound
I am using a belkin aux at the moment but ordered a Bluetooth reciever to see which I prefer using.
I'm the same, I have used the Blackberry one which was fine but moved to the HTC one as it's cleaner with no aux cable. I've had no problems with sound quality but I'm not a true audiophile

I would have one again and again. After a years use purchase a regeneration pack (cleaner and oil around £10) - keep your old filter to use while the oiled one is being cleaned.
I usually soak it in the solution overnight, dry it and then re-oil it but in the mean time put the old filter in so the car can be used. Its actually a good point in time to measure the difference in them both as you will feel the difference when its swapped over..
When putting the newly oiled one back in or putting it in for the first time reset your ECU. Maybe the people that don't report a difference don't reset theirs and the car gradually learns the new "setting" with not much noticeability to the driver...? The car will be a bit "tame" until it learns your driving style after the reset but you will feel the difference,
I actually check mine every 6 months or so - when I had one in my IS200 the engine bay seemed to hoover up all the road dust so I cleaned it quite regularly. I have had the current filter in the 250 for just coming up for 6 months so will be checking that soon.
How do you reset your ECU? do you have to take it to a Lexus garage?

I've the 2007 model so just I just had a look at mine. Obviously put car in reverse and camera comes on. There is a little icon button in he bottom left hand corner (there is also one on the bottom right for parallel or kerb parking ) Press the screen button on the left and it will scroll through three different options, one has no lines, the others are with the lines in different patterns.
Hope this helps.
Not really as I don't have those icons on my screen at all :(

I have fitted one on my 250 - It is noticeable especially in "drive" (if you have an auto) but you soon get used to it.
I have always fitted them on the cars I have had - one has been put on my wifes Tigra and she does not know anything about cars but has noticed the increased throttle response especially when pulling away from junctions.
I had one on my old is200 and as with my current car, did notice a difference.
Based on the 3 cars I have had them in then yes there is a difference but measuring it against fuel economy I don't know. The type I have is a maintenance free oiled one.
Now, that fills me with confidence that its worth it. It's only £35, what the hell, I'll get one and give it a go.
Soft close boot on 2012 GS450h

Evening,
I've got a 2012 GS450h F-Sport and I have to pull the boot lid pretty hard to close it, should it have a soft close boot like my 2008 GS450h did?
