  1. The biggest tip I can give is check your insurer has amended your car value - at this years renewal I discovered my three year old CT was still being insured for its replacement value not it's market  value - getting it amended saved over £100.  Maybe not every insurer fails to spiral the value down each year but mine hadn't and it was costing unnecessarily as a result

  2. So the 2014 upgrade listed amongst other things a GPS clock.  Now I've had the car two years I can't see what it additional does over any other car clock.  You still have to programme it for the six monthly clock changes (daylight saving option) you still have to adjust it if you move from one country ( time zone) to another.  I have a cheap home clock that is linked to a radio transmitter that gets daylight saving updates and checks it's self daily against a standard.  I just went to France and my phone automatically updated according to my GPS location - so what Lexus, does yours do, that warrants it being a "GPS" clock.  Or am I missing something?

  3. Really appreciate all this useful feedback from everyone.  Thank you.  I will have achieved nothing close to 30k when they need changing.  As I originally posted The car is in for service right now at two years and has done about 17.000 miles.  At least the replacement of the 16's is not as pricey as 17's

  4. My 2014 Premier has just had its 2 year service at 17000 miles.  Advised the fronts are down to 3.2 MM. and should be changed before next service.  I run 16's for ride and now that I'm about to go off the factory brand does anyone have any suggestion of which to go for next?  Should I put new on the back move the backs to front so I get rid of the factory's all round soonest? Would welcome suggestions please.

  5. I recall when I ordered my ct200 that it was a factory thing - you specified a sunroof - no spare wheel - you specified a spare wheel - no sun roof.  If you wanted to order with a sun roof and after delivery you want to get the parts and fit a spare wheel no problem.  I'm reckoning that the emissions thing is the point - they've got a setup that gets under a figure with one or the other not both.  The issue about passenger weight is noted but the emissions test is not done in real world ways.  On flat, almost empty tank, warmed up engine, probably an underweight driver, non standard tyre pressures and all the other tricks that are allegedly used but the thing they must do is have a complete car so they don't take out the seats and if it has a sunroof and a spare wheel as standard they would both have to stay present that is unless they can show they only supply as one or the other.  Crazy but there it is.

  6. It's a weight issue.  The extra weight of the sunroof means that it precludes having a spare wheel.  In which case you'd get the same that was in the pre 2014  facelift - a can of gunk to seal a puncture and the wherewithal to reinflate the tyre to get you home.  Given pretty much every car has a/c these days why would you want a sun roof?

  7. Don't think you will be - mirrors auto fold upon remote locking.  Aerial neater - and you should have a spare wheel not gunk.  Should be quieter and the power take up has been made more linear - you will find a detailed list  of differences on line - I've had a facelift premier since March 15 - just wish there was a usb inside the console

  8. The OP IJP was asking about the 2014 update.  Any 2016 update is minor and I understand only in USA.  I was recently in Lexus UK distributor talking about replacing my 2014 in 2017 just before the DVLA tax changes will come into effect and was told there has been no announcement of any updates planned in UK.  They would expect on usual cycles that an update might be reasonable to expect in 2017 but it might not be to that timescale.  Sideline monitoring is therefore all one can do.  I'm pretty happy about most things except I wish the USB was inside the console so all wires not visible.

  9. If you are referring to the 2014 facelift it contained quite a few things.  I bought a Premier in March 2014 and amongst the changes

Front end changed majorly with spindle grill introduced

lots of stiffening to the body shell which allowed suspension adjustments to soften the ride

a spare wheel replaced the spray gunk get you home kit

The aerial was changed from stick to shark fin

    modest redesigns around back end

A gps clock - though I have never found it do anything better than a routine clock - still have to change it for DST and crossing time zones

They remapped the hybrid drive to give a more linear acceleration and managed to trim the emissions further

the central display which could fold away was made permanently open.

    additional sound deadening

the trim range was changed eg the grey leather was dropped leaving only black or ivory as options

optional dash inserts were made available replacing the standard - ie bamboo and I believe the drive selector was slightly modified.

all these refer to uk spec and it's not exhaustive

if you google there are a number of place that recite the various evolutions-the telegraph's honest John is one such

  10. Hope you will both enjoy your new CT.  The CT sits low and my cautionary note is in any circumstance where the camber tilts the car towards the kerb be careful of the leading edge of the door bottom scraping the pavement.  It's easier to do that you might imagine.

  11. Just had best mileage result - filled up in Bracknell - drove to Caerphilly back to Dover and filled up again - cost £29.80 - journey Caerphilly to Ashford over 200 miles - part of above registered 71.7 on board - granted the damn motorways caused me to do a fair bit of cross country driving I was really surprised. Am getting high 6o's at the moment but I agree winter kills it.
