  1. Just done 2300 miles in my 400 and averaged 32 overall but for the two 10 hour stints driving through France only averaged 28 with the cruise set at 90mph. Was quite happy when the gite owner said he only got 17 mpg from his brand new Discovery set at 90!

I came back from a family Holiday, East Riding to France and back via the Euro tunnel, 2250 miles, avg mpg 29.8. Stuck to a GPS measured 81mph on cruise control on all motorways. Met friends who arrived from Portsmouth in their Volvo XC90, he was avg 32mpg, but I'm sure mine is better around town ie most of my driving.

The RX behaved impeccably, incredibly refined and comfortable, felt safe during torrential storms (worst weather I've ever driven in on Sunday). Awesome car :) Wish it had a bit more boot space, my mates XC90 has much more, though it doesn't seem much longer.

  2. Hi,

I fitted a new Grom unit about 3 months ago, for some reason its stopped working about 2 weeks ago. The Grom can be seen in my Iphone 5s under BT but when I click on it to connect it says it cant.

Any body got any ideas why it would stop working? I haven't changed anything on the car, or on my Iphone as far as I know.

I'm on holiday in 3 weeks and need to get it fixed before I leave - help! :)

  3. I think its up to the individual to do the research and make a decision, if you haven't done the research regarding mpg/running costs etc I have little sympathy. Obviously if your circumstances have changed and your budget has then fair enough that's unforeseen.

I've had my 2006 RX for just over 2 months now and while I've had to become acclimatised to filling up a lot more having come from a 46mpg Honda Civic, you just can't compare the two vehicles. Theres more to driving and ownership than just mpg - comfort, luxury, features, solidity, lifestyle, flexibility, prestige, all these things count to me and while yes I've worked out I'll be paying several hundreds pounds more a year in petrol, I'm hoping that the legendary lexus running costs will offset that. Personally my wife and I and my daughter really like the Lexus for all the reasons I've outlined.

Its a lot of car for the money and I'm avg 33mpg :) Easily do 37 on a 50/60mph run which considering the performance and size is astonishingly good.

  4. Drove to Derby at the weekend and back to the East Riding - avg mileage currently stands at 29mpg - which I don't think is too bad.

And boy that thing can shift if it needs too, surprised a few drivers lol - I've found my driving style has become more relaxed in the Lexus, on the motorway with cruise control on its a very easy and comfortable car to drive - I like it a lot!

  5. Hi I've had my RX400 over a week now and love it.

However, the westfalia detachable tow bar it came with just doesn't seem to fit. You push it vertically up and its supposed to use ball bearings to fix itself and then you lock it with a key. However, it just doesn't fit when you push it up, its a good 1" or so from and sits proud.

I've taken photos to show the towbar - any of your thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome, I was planning on fitting my bike carrier but I'm scuppered until I resolve this issue.

    Thanks for looking.post-49667-0-71901200-1396086778_thumb.j
