  1. Hello,

I'm desperately looking for a pair of OEM key gloves to fit the remote key of my 2016 CT 200h.

    Premise: I'm from Italy.

Searching through the web I found that there are two types of gloves:

    - Standard with Lexus logo:

    $_57.JPG

    - With the "F" logo and blue stitching:

    $_57.JPG

Now the problem is that these products are only available on eBay (actually on amazon uk you can find a pair of standard ones but they're way too expensive and they don't ship in my country) mostly sold by Americans Lexus dealerships or accessory sellers. No traces of these gloves in Europe.

The price is roughly $10 for a pair of standard gloves o a single F glove, which is nice, but I have to pay $22 for international shipment expenses hopefully included taxes and expenses.

Do some of you guys know where to buy these gloves inside Europe? My dealer is not selling this kind of accessories, it's like I can't buy an accessory from who makes both my car and the accessory itself.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  2. Thank you Steve.

So apparently the problem has fixed itself because i did nothing but going (with ignition ON - Power x 2 times without foot on brakes pedal) in the infotainment home page and then browsing

    MENU --> CAR --> CUSTOMIZE

then I got a message saying "Applying user customizations..." and from that moment the welcome illumination has started again to work properly.

However in the customization area there are 3 menus (Air conditioning customization, Door locking customization and Lights customization) but there isn't a specific setting for the "welcome illumination" because the only things that I can modify (at least on my car) in the lights area are the timings for internal illumination, the coming/leaving home timings and the sensitivity of the twilight sensor.

So, If you have the same problem as me just go - with ignition ON - in the customization area of the menu, under car settings/manteinance area and let the system do the magic.

  3. This morning I went into my garage and I noticed that the "welcome illumination", basically when you stand near the car with the key in your pocket the interior lights and the lights under the external rear view mirrors softly light up, is not working any more!

It's the first time I use the car since it was returned from the service at dealer.

Has it to do with some setting in the infotainment/dashboard that I should activate or have I to go back to the dealer and have it to fix this thing? :whistling:

Note: the infotainment firmware has been updated to F version by dealer when the car was there for the service.

PS. Car lights are always on AUTO position

  4. Sorry to appear dim, can someone explain 'Launch Control' for me please.

It's simple but a few number of people figured out how to do it!

Basically you have to keep pushed the brake pedal while you accelerate with your right foot, in that way the petrol engine "wakes up" and revs up (if you don't do this trick you start with the electric engine and after you have the punch of the petrol engine) with the electric engine, then you depress the brake and the car will accelerate faster than usual. ;)

As the video prove you can cover the 0-60 in less than 8 seconds, but make sure to have the Battery charged for best results

  5. Thanks I'll have alook at your NX review, one of our family friends was asking about one after sitting in our IS.

As for the 'launch control', it's what I've been doing with my conventional auto BMW for ages...Nice and easy, not sure why all the manufactuers have gone mad with 'launch control' systems, good old one foot on the brake and one foot on the acclerator always works for me.

I hope that it can be helpful, even if the automated translation is poor/wrong for some words. :eerrrmm:

  6. Just letting you know that, after the annual check service, my car came back with the F update of the infotainment, currently not downloadable from the customer portal (basically that portal is useless).

Since then (only 1 week) I haven't noticed neither any freezing/stuttering issue nor disappearing graphics on the virtual dashboard.

I hope this update had fixed once for all the problems!

  7. Personally I always had no doubt that this 300h has an equivalent if not superior acceleration when it comes to regain speed...they said the e-CVT is boring and bad thing, they said...

I noticed that in the video you performed the "launch control" for the 0-60, that's a great "hidden" feature that I haven't tried yet.

Taking advantage from the "Pick & Delivery" Lexus program I managed to get a brand new NX 300h as substitute car and I saw that the gearbox has even been improved in reactions and speed, also in NORMAL mode the electric engine works better when the ICE is not working: smoother and better acceleration without the need to go in the POWER "red" zone for normal driving, most of the times.

Speaking of the NX, I wrote a long review about the NX but...it's in Italian, so if you're interested in reading (maybe you can just take a look at the photo gallery I made) click here for the translated - by Google - original page:

  8. How to download firmware updates for the media system?

The last one (and only) I downloaded from the Owner's website was the update which activated the real time traffic support, like at the end of march if I'm not wrong.

At the moment I have almost nothing to complain about, it just works as expected, even vocal instructions, but I only have to report bad sound quality for the Bluetooth calls as the person who I'm talking with says that it's difficult to hear me clearly. The incoming call audio is great.

Another thing that annoys me a little is the volume increasing/decreasing that have to be operated for at least +/- 10 points in order to hear a clear change in volume power, this is more noticeable with the control on the steering wheel...*CLICK* *CLICK* *CLICK* etc..

  9. Is there a trick to avoid the delay/lag when using the audio system as speaker for cellphone Bluetooth streaming?

When listen to the music or the general audio (notifications, app sounds, ecc..) I can clearly see a delay from the input to the output, this is noticeable in two situations:

    1) Skipping song either from the steering wheel/console or directly from the cellphone --> audio starts playing 2-3 seconds from the input (note that the song is playing with no delay on the phone)

    2) Using an app such a game --> audio not synchronized

I'm using a Nokia Lumia 1020 and the audio for the callings is ok and so is the synching, the only problem affects the music streaming.

  10. From the last refueling I measured a consumption of REAL 16 km/l (45,5 MPG) with my F-Sport driving it in a "mixed" way: 60% normal , 40% sport+.

Never used ECO mode as I think it works best when driving in huge traffic or when you're in column.

The board computer measurement is way too optimistic, like every hybrid car, since it says I have an average fuel consumption of 18,4 km/l (52,3 MPG).

Anyways, 16 km/l for a car which weights 1700+ kg is an extraordinary result imho (and I can do better).

My other car, a Seat Ibiza SC FR with a 1.2 TSI petrol engine (105 hp) and a weight of 1010 kg, has got an average consumption of 15 km/l!

  11. Update #2 and FINAL

The problem seems to be solved once for all, I hope.

So all the suspension are ok and there isn't any oil leakage, the mechanics checked according to a Lexus instruction bulletin, and in the end they found the source of the goddamn noise.

They fixed the parking brake shoes (not the cable), as it was indicated in a second bulletin, and from that moment the noise was totally gone.

We tested the car on every single pothole, bumps and rough asphalt at various speeds and with different spring stiffness (NORMAL --> SPORT S --> SPORT S+).

The work has been done in like 1 hour (inspection included), without an appointment, but since they haven't released me any document I can't post anything "technical" about the problem nor a scan.

    ---

Basically, the known reasons (at the moment) are that this noise may be caused by:

    1) Oil leakage from a suspension

    2) Parking brake shoes

    ---

    Hope this will be helpful.

  12. Update #1

The Cable trick has been a "placebo" For 1-2 days, the noise is still present.

I called the dealer and spoke with the chief mechanic who told me that apparently now all dealers are aware of the suspension noises as they recently have been informed by Lexus Italy.

At the moment they're checking the car in every area (even Engine) looking For suspect noises, suspension included.

If the problem is the rear suspension they'll Order the new piece under warrantly obviously.

When I'll be home I'll post the next update.

  13. Update!

I've just driven the car for 30 minutes and, with my surprise, I noticed that the noise is ALMOST gone with the parking brake trick.

I drove on every pothole on the road at different speeds using all the drive settings from NORMAL to SPORT S+ and, where normally I would have heard the noise, this time it was gone.

To be fair I heard the noise a couple of times when passing on some holes but it happened when passing on 2-3 of them which were very close each other but I'm not able to say if the volume was lower or the same.

Now the car is in the garage with parking brake pulled and with a cardboard sheet under the left rear wheel, just to be sure there isn't any oil loss from the suspension.

Do you think that could really be the parking brake cable doing the noise at this point?

  14. Thank you Rayaan, very kind.

One thing: I haven't seen nor oil residue under the car nor on the garage floor like they're saying in that discussion. I will check when I get back in the garage later.

Also I'll keep you all updated about this issue, after the week end I'll phone the dealer, and now I'm going to write on the Lexus Italy facebook page (they always answer to customers questions) just to inform them about the problem and see what they're going to say.

  15. I thought that Lexus service was better than the other brands...they even checked all 4 suspensions...

Anyway let's see tomorrow if the parking brake trick miraculously has worked, then I'll come back to the dealer next week.

    Thanks.

Ps. Any chance to retrieve a link to the American forum where they're discussing the problem? Just in case I'll need some extra information for the mechanics.

  16. Good evening,

Since the nice weather and the heat have come I started driving with the windows down, this made me realize just how good is the sound-proofing of the cockpit, but I noticed an annoying thing.

Basically when driving over bumps, potholes and speedbumps, I can clearly hear (only with windows down) a noise coming from the left rear wheel and only that wheel.

This happens at every imaginable speed, I hear a sort of metallic vibration, like something that is being shaken, and I guess it comes from the suspension or something connected.

I took the car to the dealer wich reassured me that everything is ok and the car is safe to drive, also they checked all the suspensions and have a new grease smeared on the brakes (something that would have being done anyway with maintenance in the future).

The chief mechanic and I went for a test drive and I let him hear that shaking noise but again he reassured me that it's normal.

Frankly for me this isn't a normal thing because it's the first time ever I hear a noise like that on a car driven by me and I'm not comforted by the fact that the noise is not present with windows closed.

Anyways, searching on google I found this: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-third-generation/700364-already-a-problem-with-my-new-2014-is-350f.html

They're talking about a noise coming from the parking brake cable and honestly I think that makes sense as I rarely use the parking brake (I just let the car in P) so maybe the cable needs to settle with use.

Yesterday I did the "trick" for about the 20 hours the car has been parked in the garage but I haven't noticed any difference so at the moment my IS will be in the garage, with the parking brake pulled, for another 2 days since I need it this saturday.

    ---

Has anybody here experienced the same problem and can help me?

Apart from this issue the car is amazing and with mileage (1430 miles / 2300 km on the clock) I'm feeling it become more reactive, in Sport S/S+ mode the car is very quick! Also the e-CVT transmission is a masterpiece, nothing to do with Audi's multitronic (tested on an A5).

    Thank you everybody. :phone:

  17. Welcome to the forum Andy, bet you can't wait for delivery!

I have 4500 miles in the clock, my driving is generally around town with occasional motorway. I'm averaging 38 mpg according to the computer, get about 460 ish from a tank, and it's about £75 at Shell on normal petrol. Our American cousins don't have the hybrid but a bigger petrol one (can't remember exactly), so I'm not surprised by some of those reports.

I got the same range on the first run, full tank since I got the car from dealer.

Circa 14 km per liter (38-40 mpg) but I got this result by calculating the level of fuel when refilling the tank to the max level (50 litres) and relating it to the distance traveled since the first day of use.

The board computer showed autonomy for 180 more kilometers (111 miles) when I got 700 km (434 miles) on the clock.
    700 km / 50 litres = 14 km per liter
As the car and the engine are new I find this result very nice considering that the car is heavy and the F-sport has got low profile wheels with 18" alloys.

Anyways I noticed that the mileages on the "travel diary" indicates that the average fuel consumption is 18 km per liter (50 mpg)...according to this, where are my 4 km per liter that are missing?

The "pump" consumption says 14 km per liter while the onboard computer says 18 km per liter.

Sure thing is I will got better consumption as I understood how to drive properly this car and the hybrid system. ;)

  18. Since this car has been released, I've seen only ONE (a sonic titanium Executive) on the roads.

As of today the situation has not changed and when driving around everybody look at my car wondering what kind of car is this.

It's funny because the day when I got the car, a week ago, I saw the same Executive IS parked in the dealer's garage for maintenance!

Here in Italy this car is very rare...but I'm ok with this as it means I'm driving an "exclusive" car.

  19. Today I went to the dealer and finally I got the global opening setting fixed plus another customized setting about the doors unlock when turning off the engine while in P gear.

They told me I can customize some other settings by myself going in the car settings, from the navigator screen, and entering the "CUSTOMIZE VEHICLE" menu but only when the ignition is on, otherwise the menu became inaccessible (gray text).

Unfortunately the guy who did the work with the OBD socket told me that it's not possible to enable the mirrors automatic folding, when opening/closing with the remote key, as this feature is not available on the F-Sport model.

I guess this function is relegated to the "Luxury" trim (the highest trim in Italy) and frankly I'm a bit disappointed because this is even standard/optional on many other less expensive cars like my son's 2012 Seat Ibiza FR with the 200€ electronic pack!

Anyways the car is superb and it goes as expected, I'm satisfied...even if they could have done a more user friendly infotainment and navigation system!

I hope in future updates from mylexus.com

  20. I talked to my dealer and he said that usually they customize those settings when they prepare the car during the pre-delivery operations, but in this case they forgot to do it for some reason.

Tomorrow or monday I'm going at my dealership in order to fix this and will see the changes!

Also, looking at your car in the avatar I noticed that you have the "shark fin" on the roof and mine doesn't have it.

It's very nice and sporty but in our market they decided not to put it on the cars.

In the meantime I quickly arranged a photo gallery of the car if you're interested in seeing it: GALLERY
