  1. I am no longer considering Lexus as yet again their anti-sales dept is working well.  Only Luxury brand thats not compatible with OVOs charge anytime App.  Toyota is not available either as did check. So anyone with a charger already is stuffed unless it's an OHME or some brand I've not heard of. No way I'm replacing an expensive Zappi charger for car with no Android Auto built in and more to the point poor range v price. I see now why without effort I was getting almost 7k off via CARWOW.

  2. As much as I have had no issue with Zappi I would just pick the Ohme as it seems it plays better and Lexus are behind the times as usual being the only Luxury brand thats not listed as working  with OVOs very clever Charge Anytime App which allows any charger to work. Charger is just a slave in the process as the App goes straight to your car telling it when to allow charging. The beauty of that is even a 3 pin 'granny charger' will work meaning owners have a wider choice of charger.

  3. Andy thanks for confirming that. I can confirm that JLR cars equipped with  PIVI-PRO have Android wireless connectivity for well over 2 years now. The latest BMW software also has wireless connectivity. I expect Merc is the same but not sure. In my EPace PHEV the Android connectivity can be glitchy but always works . Also with my Jag account I can connect to Spotify without the phone if I want as I have a Spotify subscription or  Ring Go etc.

  4. I have a Zappi and my installer recommended it as had issues with lots of others and CS was good. I have called for some help with app and confirm very good. Its not very smart as doesn't play with Octopus but I'm with OVO. Luckily although it will not connect in usual manner OVO app allows you to connect to your cars manufacturer (if listed) and then use the OVO app to set smart charging. 10p/KWH. You set the departure time and it will charge according to demand on the grid. Works overnight well. Not sure if Lexus and OVO is compatible but you can check. I have an older Zappi which uses WiFi so no SIM card. All new chargers have a SIM card (afaik)  and after a period of years ( manufacturer specific) you will have to pay a monthly fee for the data.

  5. Having left the brand due to hopeless infotainment no PHEV or EV option the new infotainment  system appears a lot better. I'm looking at the RZ but seems Lexus don't value Android users the same as BMW, Jaguar etc who all have wireless connectivity.  I'm put off but wonder if Wireless Android is  an update Lexus plan on but getting it to behave is taking time?

Also  does the Lexus system have the ability to access Spotify without a phone via subscription for example as thats the  main use for me?

  6. Try a quote from Warranty Wise and see how that looks. The IS build is great like all Lexus cars so less of a concern but just one major fault could be ruinous.....but to be fair neither of my 2 Lexus cars went wrong ever so as long as you have a bit of savings to cope with the unexpected the IS is as as safe a used car bet as a thing out there.

  7. Saw my old car on the website and looks good. Nice to see it was treated well under your ownership someone is going to get a great cheap car. You’ll enjoy that new colour and corners will be more fun. How’s the ride compared with the Advance out of interest?

Ill never fathom why so many  folks buy grey metallic sporty cars.  Could understand if it was cheaper but they pay more for the privilege🙄

  8. Probably obvious, but you need to have your phone on full volume as most assume your using headphones and the default  output is far too low to drive the car when using Bluetooth.  It’s very annoying that I cannot override the volume default on my SamsungS8 so it remains at whatever I set it.

Overall Spotify sounds fine to me and no different to 256 mp3 on a stick at sensible volumes anyway.

  9. That’s why we end up staying with Lexus because their CS is miles ahead in our experience which JD seeems to concur with.

I would have needed counciling after not being able to have an LC 500 for a couple of days when offered ...then again I would have required it anyway after handing it back🙄.

  10. I recently took an F Sport  out for an hour whilst my IS 300h Sport was getting the 2nd service. I was disappointed by it in term of ride quality and overall road and vibration noise in general. I knew it would be slower than my  IS, however was impressed by how well it went round corners for a tall car. I can’t help but think the F Sport suspension may have been a factor.

  11. I bought the top recommended gauge in the recent Autoexpress test which was the RaceX analogue gauge. Very impressive build quality and comes in a decent case for only £10.

My pencil gauge was not as far out as I feared but the RaceX is easier to be spot on and use so for me worth it.

  12. To answer the T cut question first: Both will work, the  Red is  very aggressive and  best avoided unless your car is single stage paint and very faded. Both will leave marring (micro scratches) of their own which in days gone by were removed by the likes of Auroglym SRP or at least masked as its a filler polish.  These days there are diminishing polishes or compounds which means they break down as you polish and avoid the marring I mentioned. Megs Scratch X or Swirl X  would be the one I would use instead of T Cut if looking through Halfords. By hand you need a lot of time and ibuprofen! Try a coat of Autoglym SRP first as that is still one of the best all in one products around and see how that looks then you can top with  sealant or wax, which is a whole new subject.
