  1. I managed to remove some of the coating from the screen of my IS300h Premier using nothing more than a dry microfibre cloth. I was devastated and pretty upset I can tell you. The car wasn't even 9 months old. Lexus Edinburgh had a look and took some photographs as Lexus wanted proof there had been no impact to the screen. A few weeks later and after sitting in the dealership for a couple of hours I left with a brand new screen replaced under warranty.

  2. I drove to work in Livingston today from Dunfermline. A fair bit of snow at home, but a LOT more in Livingston and the roads were pretty much untreated (disgraceful really). I had to turn a sharp bend and up a hill in thick untouched snow just to park up at work and I was nervous at the thought of it. I needn't have worried. Pushed the "snow" button and with the winter tyres I sailed up the hill and in to my parking space easily. No wheel spin or sliding around at all. It was just like driving on tarmac to be honest. The car handled brilliantly and its given me a lot more confidence now for the winter. Many of my colleagues were late today as they struggled to stay on the road - the very same colleagues who laughed at me for having a rear-wheel drive automatic.

  3. I think I may just have sort of cracked it. I popped out to the car at lunchtime and realise that my new tracks are in fact there but...... all of my tracks within folders appeared to have been sorted in alphabetical order by filename. The new tracks however are appearing right at the bottom of the list in what seemed to be no particular order.

I then realised that my folders aren't all in alphabetical order (although most are).

I'm now thinking that despite sorting the files in Windows by name, this is just a view of things at that point of time. I think the car may be sorting the list of files (And folders) based on the date and time they were written to the USB stick.

I think I'l try "touching" the new files to amend their date and time to prove if this is the case. Easy fix is to remove all the files and then write them all back on.

  4. Jumped in the car this morning looking forward to listening to some new tunes I had copied over on to my USB stick last night. However, on plugging the USB stick in the car started playing again from the last track I had played last night and when I browsed the folders none of the new files were visible.

I tried taking it out and putting it back in again, tried both USB ports and even re-booted the audio/nav system but the car still doesn't see the new tracks.

I've plugged my memory stick in to my PC at work in case I had lot my marbles and copied the files somewhere else by mistake, but NO - there they are on the stick!

How can I force the car to re-scan the USB stick? I thought this happened each time you started up.

  5. So handed back the demo today, was a shame to have to hand the keys back :(

I think in a few years time if Lexus stick in a decent engine in a hybrid/EV combo I could be easily persuaded to part with the 335!

For now we have to decided colour combo. Was all set on Mercery Gray and Ivory interior but we really like the Titanium colour of the demo....decisions decisions :)

I have the Sonic T and love it. The colour really does seem to change depending on the lighting conditions. Just my tuppence worth!

I have Sonic Titanium too and it does look very different colour depending on the light. I love it! So glad I opted for it.

  6. I bought a Luxury model with premium sat nav and electric seat pack in April and I've been more than delighted with it. I paid for the electric seat pack thinking that came with memory seat function too (that's what the dealer told me all along) so was a bit gutted to find that was not the case when I picked up the car.

However, my dealer phoned me last week to offer me a spectacular deal on a brand new Premier model in the same colour (Sonic Titanium). Having just bought winter tyres for my current IS300h, they have thrown in a set of winter tyres for the new one (since the wheels are 18s rather than 17s), the Supagaurd paint protection, the transfer of my private registration and they are paying the deposit! I'll have a very small increase in monthly payments but I though it was worth it for the upgrade! I miss the memory seats from my old Avensis, I'm looking forward to the auto-dipping / folding mirrors which sound very useful (I'm often manually dipping mine when parking and always fold my mirrors in) and can't wait to try out the Mark Levinson audio system! Should get the new one by the end of the week with some luck!

  7. Can anybody confirm which model of IS300h comes with the auto dipping wing mirror feature? I have a Luxury model just now, 7 months old, but about to take delivery of an identical Sonic Titanium in Premium spec next week (long story, but only costing me a few pounds more each month thanks to an incredible deal!).

I don't believe my Luxury has this feature as I've never seen it happen. The handbook mentions lots of customisation options that I can't seem to get to on my premium nav system. i.e. i had to change my indicators from 3 to 5 flashes using the well document and long-winded sequence of flicking wiper and light stalks, etc.

(In fact I asked the dealer to change it and they told me it couldn't be done so I e-mailed them the instructions published in this forum and they were mortified with embarrassment that they didn't know about it)

Will my Premier model have the auto dipping mirrors?

  8. I'm interested to hear what mccardal has to say about the Nexus 5. I have one which appears to work seamlessly until you realise it only ever copies over 320 or so of my 1300 contacts. I have spent hours of my life trying to work out a pattern as to why those 320 but I can't find no explanation. Its very frustrating as my partner is one of the contacts that just won't sync over. I'm totally stumped by it.

  9. When I got my IS300H 6 weeks ago I noticed that when I paired by Google Nexus 5 phone with the premium sat nav that only 330 of my 1200+ contacts transferred over. I was going to 'phone the Lexus Bluetooth helpdesk number but I did a bit of digging on-line and found a lot of people having problems with Google devices and cars (Lexus and non-lexus). The solution seemed to be a number of bug fixes coming in Android version 4.4.3. I knew it was coming soon so held off.

I got the update to 4.4.3 on my phone last week but I still have the same problem syncing contacts. I've tried everything I can think of but can't even see any logic or pattern as to which ones transfer and which ones don't. I even purchased an app called Bluetooth Phonebook which many people rave about and say it solved their issues. Hasn't worked for me though.

Does anybody else have similar issues or experiences???

  10. Thanks folks. Picked the car up last Tuesday from John Canning at Lexus Edinburgh. What an amazing service experience. The car was in its own little garage with highly polished tiled floor and under a black cloth until it was revealed to me. It is a beautiful car to look at and to drive. A real head-turner too....lost count of how many times I've seen other drivers admiring it. I've uploaded some photos to my Flickr stream here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ross_strachan/sets/72157644415860273

  11. Hi folks,

New to the club and picking up my IS300h on Tuesday night, fingers crossed.

After test driving a Luxury and an F-Sport, I plumped for the Luxury. I actually preferred the more cushioned ride of the Luxury (I'm not a boy racer! lol) and really didn't like the black roof-liner of the F-Sport. I might be in the minority saying that, but each to their own. Pity the Luxury doesn't come with the one piece grill.

I plumped for the upgraded electric memory/heated/cooled seats and chose Sonic Titanium for the color. Lexus Edinburgh gave me a free upgrade to the Premium Sat Nav system, a £1000 deposit contribution, a further £1000 off the price, and paid for the transfer of my private plate. All in, a great deal.

I have no idea how I'm going to get through another 4 sleeps. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself!

I have to say, John Canning at Lexus Edinburgh has been absolutely brilliant. The best sales experience I've ever had. I'm also looking forward to being a member of the Saturday Wash Club!

    Regards,

    Ross.
