Hi there, had this problem on my RX300. The latches as per Peter's photos stuck inside due to dirt, you have to remove them and give a good wash with dish washing liquid, exercise them and do not lubricate. Took half an hour to sort them out, no problem since.
Hope this helps.

I've not read all seven pages on this topic so what I'm about to say may be complete rubbish, or it may even have been mentioned earlier but, as a relatively new owner of a 2005 RX300 (had it two months now), I'm also disappointed about the amount of light at the back of the car when reversing in darkness. However, I think the lights themselves are bright enough but it's the photochromic mirrors to blame.
The 'porch light' at our house comes on when it's dark but when I'm trying to reverse up the drive I can hardly see anything at all due to all the mirrors going dark. I drove a van for many years when I was a telephone engineer on BT so I'm more comfortable and more used to using the mirrors to reverse rather than twisting around to look out of the rear window (plus my back injury makes that movement a painful one!). Also, the brightness of the reversing camera screen, if my eye happens to catch it, can then make looking into the dark mirrors even worse than normal. Photochromic mirrors are a great idea while driving but should be disabled when reverse gear is selected, in my humble opinion anyway.
You can disable them by pushing a button on the rear view mirror.

Replaced radiator last year for £300 all inc. It is a pain for mechanics TBH. There are two ways to do that - take it off from beneath or pull it up. There has to be disconnected AT cooling pipe to take radiator down. This was badly corroded so mechanic decided not to touch it. To pull radiator up is more time consuming and a bit expensive.

To confuse things even more - sorry - I thought the AWD on a 300 worked differently to that on a 350?
Agree, RX300 drives more like FWD in normal conditions.

Hi,
My front tyres worn evenly at 8k miles but I keep them at 35 psi and not 33 as per manual, that's what many RX owners suggest to do.

Hi,
I found this article but have never tried, hope this helps.
"Sit in car, close door, turn IGN to ON (the last position before starting the engine, but no need to actually start engine) and set Odometer to full mileage reading (ie not trip A or cool.gif
Turn off, remove key
Re-insert key, turn back to ON (as above)
Press and hold ODO button for 30 seconds (may be OK with less, but 30 worked for me)
whilst still pressing ODO button, clip in seatbelt
b_on or b-off appears in ODO display
take finger off ODO button, and press again to change between b_on (bleeper on) and b_off (bleeper off)
unclip belt and turn off ignition to set"Monte

Hi everyone!
I can't open my tailgate any more, it is locked at all times. Car is LE model so opens only manually. Without a key hole in door can't open from outside - need fold down rear seat, get in the boot and open it from inside - that's disgusting... After some investigation I found that there is no any central lock mechanism for tailgate, it just disables door handle which is not kind of a mechanism but just contact to activate door lock motor. Couldn't find any info about that, any suggestions please...?
Cheers,
Monte

I did minor service and MOT test last summer at MK Lexus, polite service would recommend them. Well, maybe without MOT - wrote some strange advise about engine plastic covers which obstruct view of engine...

My beauty is due to get 14th stamp at Lexus (!) still looks and drives spot on with no issues whatsoever, have seen nearly murdered at a half of that mileage, so history and condition first.

Hi,
Q5. Mine has had a leak from power steering pipe which has been replaced by dealer for £72+ labour, part no 44416 - 48052, pretty sure it could be done cheaper at local garage but firstly check it.
Q10. Yes, tale pipe trim can be replaced separately, part no 17408 - 16020.
Sorry, can't answer other questions cos mine is Limited Edition...
