  1. I think it's what's best for the individual ref service plan, but I would guess they must save money over paying a one time bill.  I have purchased the Lexus Extended Warranty so have to use Lexus for service.  I know the £340 is the starting price. So I guess I will get the usual phone call saying we have noticed this and that. Could do with changing.  I may well consider the service plan when I get there.

  2. I agree the Updates should be part of a service, where the Dealer says would you like your Map update for a small charge of £20 maybe

Then i am sure People would have it done  also its a way they can update the operating system for the Audio/Nav unit

  3. Have the same Problem as Jamie when my car went in to Lexus for a service i mentioned this, if i hit the Demister button all FM signals are hiss crackle but AM are fine, the service dept said oh it will be your rear screen the wires probably damaged

But i have only noticed this happens since we have had nothing but rain and the inside screens have so much condensation on them but when we have had a dry day and a bit of sun Like last Sunday 16th Feb it has been fine during the day,

but this morning as it was cold overnight the condensation comes back and it starts again.

Just seen a picture of the amplifier and i am wondering if this might have condensation on the inside.

is it easy to access this amplifier without to much trouble

  4. Ok had the Engine change at 57k on is220d then at 87k the Car had a strange sensation like i was being pulled back (loss accelaration) on M6

near coventry, VSC error come up, but no limp mode, called Lexus Birmingham who told me to call lexus assist, they collected

the car and dropped at Lexus Birmingham, got call to say EGR blocked, they cleaned it out, been 2 weeks now was going ok, until other day, i am now getting a strange vibration sound if i blip the throttle, like Air leak sounds like Barrrrp between 1000rpm-1500rpm

but also now loss of power feels like i can only drive at 30 in 1st to 3rd gear if i go to 4th the revs drop to ideling speed, also feels like somthing is pulling you back when you accelerate, think i will be going back soon to Dealer lucky i have Lexus extended warranty

    anyone else had this

  5. Could anyone tell me how easy it is to remove the speaker grill in the centre of the dash below the screen. I have the most annoying rattle coming from that area and I think its between the speaker cover and the dash itself. Any help on this would be appreciated.

it is not the speaker i tried that then i tried a piece of card between screen and dash and it stopped

i complained to Lexus and they agreed to fix the problem

and (touch me wooden head) the rattle has gone.

the Dealer told me when they were made the used incorrect pegs on the bulkhead to mount the dash.

Take your car back to the dealer and tell them you want it sorted as its a known issue.

  6. Love mine too

i am glad the winter months are over so i can get my MPG back up to mid 40s

mine is a very first 220d, dated Dec 05 i only have 46K on the clock,

all recalls have been done (but touch me head) (wood) i have never had any items fail,

i too would like to do the EGR Valve clean, as i feel it could probably do with it now.

and it shines like new. but i have looked after it well (as i paid for it) not a company car

  7. am i right in saying the New Prius is around 18K on the road (Shocking price)

    £19,504 to £22,510

Wow at that price fore a car full of toooo much plastic and cloth seats

How much will the Lexus be 25-30K

if so they will not sell many

  8. Hello

i would like to try and get hold of a Drivers Floor matt

for a IS220d in black with Lexus Name in it

Mine has a hole through it

and i dont want to purchase a set at £95.00 when i only need 1

any one know of anyone breaking a 220d which had mats in Let me know

    i will pay for it

    PM Me

  9. I likes the look, But i think the way the ECO world is going

we will all be forced in to cars of that size ie BMW 1 Audi A3

    Lexus has to follow suit

But the big issue will be Cost

What will you be paying for it, if they come back with a price

Tag of 22K+ People will just laugh and walk straight in to

TOYOTA Garage and buy a Auris top of the range

Even the Audi A3 is over priced and people opt for the A4

same as the BMW1 Better buying a 3 series.

So i think the Big cheese at TOYOTA/LEXUS will have to do some

sums on Purchase price to get People away from other marks

and if they want us all in small cars they need to lower Prices

    ps

am i right in saying the New Prius is around 18K on the road (Shocking price)

  10. never had a problem with mine except the squeeky seat and lexus hull sorted it for free within 20 mins...

I got the nasty crack noise from the dash, and a funny vibration/nose at 1500 rpm. I'll take it back to the Toyota Dealer I bought it from as Lexus Aberdeen are closing down (worse luck). Other than that I'm now a happy bunny.

    Col... :winky:

If you're happy with a 220D, think of how much happier you'd have been with a 250 :whistling:

But think how much happier he is Not paying the Road Fund licence for a 250 & Less MPG (as much as all you 250 owners say you get better MPG to the 220 that is rubbish)

    :whistling:

  11. Had mine nearly two years now

and its great i have never (touch me head wood) had any breakdowns

just the usual recalls also had the dash rattle fixed and it has not come back

come to think of it lunch time today i went with a lad from work

to get some lunch and he was well impressed with the Interior and how quite

it was for a diesel (he drives a SEAT)

Then i had to show him the Mark Levinson Multimedia system with the Ipod intergration kit

he was just blown away at the sound quality.

Keep your 220d i too had a IS200sport and went to my 220

just get used to the gearing and you will be fine

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

  12. strange thing is My 10k service only cost £190 and £70 of that was oil

so why they would charge over £300 for interim service seems strange

as only a month ago i paid £324.00 for the 40k Major service

so i think your local dealer is pullin yer pisser

    regs Matt

and yes they would take the car in part ex

and the strange thing is there is a shortage of second hand cars just now as

not many people are parting with them.

Also our wonderful Brown n darling venture are forcing everyone with

an old car to buy a SMALL car, with the 2K off so after 3 years the small car will

be totally worthless and will need replacing again.

  13. Take it up with your Dealer

I had a strange rattle which i thought was the dash centre speaker,

but found it was not that, so i wedged some card between dash & screen and it stopped.

So when the car was in for 40k service i mentioned this.

I have the extended warranty, and thought it would not cover this as it is interior trim,

but the service dept persussed this with lexus, and on Friday the car went in for a full dash removal,

as there is a service sheet ref this problem, so the guy in the service said the Pegs that hold dash to chassis,

are not big enough, so they have to packit out, and anyother area around the dash

lexus supply it as a dash fitting kit.

So far so good No rattle

  14. Hello

at the end of the day it is your choice, if you was to read everything mentioned on this forum

you probably would not even buy a Lexus, as what is good for one is not good for another.

when i first purchased my IS200 i was told by a guy to look on this site, and i must admit,

it nearly put me off buying one bad gear box knocking ball joints corroding wheels etc etc

but i did buy one and it never missed a beat, i finally parted company with it at 149k on the clock

and all things mentioned to look for never went wrong with the car strange that.

I then decided to buy a 220d SE MM on a 55 plate registered last day in 2005 probably one of the first

    diesels

i have had the car for 17 months now and i love it. purchased from Stratstone

first reason i purchased it was yes Diesel more MPG compared to the IS200

second reason i really liked the spec and colour

full leather MM sat nav rear parking camera also factory fitted sunroof 17" alloy wheels

    in caxton slate,

i then went for a test drive and it felt great and was well in my budget

i paid £14k and my IS200 for a car with 17000 miles on the clock.

Yes the car has been back to Lexus for the usuall recalls

and today i have just had my 40000 mile service done by lexus £324.00

which is not bad for main dealer

and i still love the car. and i AVG on fuel 40MPG

only thing i can say is get a SE with MM and rear parking camera (this is a must have ) & 17" wheels

Remember it is you that has to drive it not anyone on this forum, so go and test one

    and see for yourself

    Regards

    Matt

  15. Now you are funny. B) I think you will be quiet when you seen the gap.

    Sorry mate only Joking

just keep taking it back untill it is sorted if they are a good dealer they will want to get it sorted

with the way things are out there they dont want to lose custom

I must be like the other post on here i have a 220d which is quite inside just od noise by centre dash speaker but i sorted with small foam part

also it has never missed a beat no failed injectors just the usual recalls

and i am booked in for my 40K service next Tuesday at Lexus Birmingham

i purchased the lexus Extended warranty in January this year, as my car was 3 years

old in Jan, and so far i feel i have wasted £68 per month, The only Warranty job i have asked them to do

is the Drivers side mirror glass, it is marked. imagine how many glasses i could buy with

the £68 a month i wasted :whistling: I only purchased it because of all the scare stories surrounding the

    220d on this SITE !!!!

Next time i will trust my own judgement

Good luck mate i hope you get it all sorted

    just one last gag

do you say MIND THE GAP sorry just had to say it

    Matt
