i get 42 on normal motorway drives and at one point ive had 47 but just kinda depends if youve had anything done to the car, ive got a different exhaust on mine so ive lost the two big centre cats and a k and n filter which really do help even driving at 75 in 6th is doable.
head gasket would be a good check on that age of car and depending on miles as they are quite prone to go
mines actually up for sale on eBay at the moment
-
no problems :)
-
ive got 8.5's on the front and 9.5's on the rear so there already pretty wide but i think it needs just a little more.
i managed to order mine from germany on eBay and actually got them for £130 including delivery so got a bit off the uk price :)
be careful with fitting i got my mate in a garage to do them and took him all day and two snapped torque wrenchs.
rear near side shock didnt want to come off the sway bar at all
-
ive got the h and r springs and they actually really comfortable, also running 19's no issues with space or anything and it really does just look so right
only way your going to get lower is with a set of coilovers and there around the £650 for bc racing ones (thats the cheapest)
ordered a set of 5mm spacers for the rear just to have them poke out a little bit
heres the rear at the moment
-
yea i just saw them after i put that post up the mintex grooved and drilled and yellow stuff worked out quite reasonable
so think i will go for that
:)

so let me get this straight, you've not messed with any of the mounting points just cut away those parts of your old bumper and then just melted it into the new one.
i know thats me being a but blunt with it
because damn that looks imppressive and i imagine your going to get alot of looks everywhere you go with that.
and for a very reasonable price aswel considering how much a new oem bumper would be
cant wait to see the finished product
-
dont want to be an arse or anything but a hell of alot of work required to drop a new engine in and new box and transfer plates etc
all for 300bhp?
to turbo it is about £5k little bit excessive. £9k for a super charger.
(just rough figures i found when looking)
with all the cash you would spend doing it you could get like an m3/impreza/skyline etc
just my 2 pence worth
-
hahah! i know that feeling.
im probably just going to get some green stuff pads and then just standard disks as any of the other ones would bump it up to £500 for all round which is a little steep aha!
-
as people have previously described theres probably only a couple of ways to get this off
use a locking key nut remover which would go over the exsiting nut like a large thread and basically screw into the bolt using an opposite thread and the undo them that way (isnt fun doing this and time consuming)
build up a weld on the nut then weld a socket or another nut to the top of the locking wheel nut and undo it that way. going to have to be alot of welds in there as its probably on pretty damn tight.
as **** as it is youve gotta think whats more important being towed if you get a flat or something. which ever way you look at it, its eventually gotta be done and could possibly cost you quite a bit
and as for getting the garage to pay for theres no proof then done it you could of gone to another garage or anything in their eyes there going to dodge it any way they can
sorry

you can change the v8 to a manual with something like r154 which is the supra box you'd just need to buy a decent manual adapter
check out thor racing they offer deals on stuff like that
anything can be done providing you throw enough money at it
the remapping side of things on the newer models cant really be done because of how heavily canbus'd the ecu is
even running a piggy back ecu probably wont work because it will throw up so many errors and things.
-
yea im going to get some ebc stuff sorted soon as the mots coming up so would deff be better on them.
ive just done an update on mine below your thread.
did you tint your own fogs?
-
oo fair enough know what im doing next month ;)
-
looks really good mate liking the sutble colour of your calipers and the little decals.
where did you get your braided lines from and any idea how much they were?
-
well so thought id post a little update on things
decided to order some h and r springs got them shipped from germany saving me about £60 on the uk price with delivery done in abour 3 days
thought id try and change them myself only to not bother and give me mate a hand at his garage doing it
i really must have the worst luck ever as the rear near side shock just wouldnt come undone took a lot of time and two snapped torque wrenchs to get it done
but 4 hours later all the springs were fitted and wow talk about a differance looks like a new car again
so ive ordered a wald rear spoiler and a new lip for the front as i think if i got an actual splitter im going to scraping the ground everywhere i go as ive got 19"s and the 35 mm drop from the springs
K and n panel filters already installed and ive also got some 10k hids and a stainless steel dpf back exhaust
Im thinking about possibly wrapping the car in a imola red but im just taking some time out to get the other little things sorted
like new discs and pads all round probably some braided lines and tuning box
Whats strange tho is last night i drove from kent to scotland and amazingly achived 50.7 mpg just driving normally with cruise control on
the only thing that has changed this weekend is the springs and i had a service done 2 weeks ago
i drove down from scotland on thursday and only managed 42 mpg at a push
bit strange but never mind not going to complain at better ecomony
Thanks
Jon

ive got 19s myself with 30mm profiles on the front and 35 on the back just ordered some h and r springs from germany managed to get them at a decent price aswel
think it was about £135 including postage. think im going to do a how too aswel when i install them just as guide for other members doing it
also going to order a new boot spoiler next month possible something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161492409742?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
just need to find a front splitter once the cars lowered and see how much clearance i have left
-
where abouts did you order it from?
-
yes thats the way hydro dipping! how much has that cost you?
you got a front splitter on yours?
-
Well....with no replies I am guessing there are not many UK IS250 owners that have added a diffuser
I have just received the diffuser in the post. Just bare plastic. Now I need to decide whether to get it sprayed body colour and fitted or...just stick it in the shed like I did the side skirts!!!
Here's what it looks like just perched on the back......
It's an evil car so it fits with the look...but unsure if I will regret it! I am not feeling too well at the mo due to a damn bug so it might just be my attitude!!
Anyone got any thoughts?
If anyone does decide to get one just to let you know....it will need quite a bit of work to get it to fit. A good bodyshop would be your best bet as the moulding is off!
Mate that looks pretty damn mean leave it in a matte black look would look right, seeing them body colour would just look a bit off
however thats just my opinoin :)
-
i think you only need it if you drop more than the 35mm all round and i cant really see an extra 5mm making that much of a massive difference on tire wear especially considering the price of the camber kit
-
I think your misunderstanding me. I want to remove my dpf and have an egr delete while using a piggyback ecu to get rid of error codes and remap the car
-
I'm just wondering if anyone's ever gone down the route of trying to get a piggyback ecu on one of these instead of the tuning boxes. Thought it might be a bit more reliable as could go with a dpf delete or an egr delete then also map it. Any advice would be appreciated

Probably not. People do look when I drive just because the exhaust noise is different and dosent sound normal.
-
It cost £400 custom made Google the top gear website for the uk there country wide. I'm sure it's long life one. Got a lifetime guarantee. It's got one small silencer after the dpf then straight pipe to the end I'll find a photo.
