  1. Just thought I would share my thoughts on my new NX300h now I have just reached 1000 miles.

Well as the title says "It's all good!"

The car, as expected, hasn't put a foot wrong. I'm averaging just over 37mpg, which in my view is perfectly acceptable.

The things I like about the NX, I love the shape of the car both inside and out.

The quietness of the drive - coming from a diesel car obviously helps in this respect, but even so the NX is a quiet car anyway

The comfort - I don't understand why some people have said the Premier model isn't smooth riding. I know all this is subjective but I can't fault the ride. Maybe they need to check the tyre pressures as there have been reports of over inflated tyres. Mine are at 32psi and make the ride very smooth.

The infotainment/Stereo/Telephone/Bluetooth/Touch pad interface all work very well in my opinion. Not used the Sat Nav too much but again it all seems fine to me.

I love the radar cruise control, the auto high beam works great too - indeed the heated seats/heated steering wheel, blind spot monitor/rear cross traffic alert all work really well and make the NX one of the safest cars on the road today in my opinion.

The seats are wonderfully comfortable too and no aches or pains even on a recent 3 hour drive to North Wales over Christmas

I never grow tired of the admiring looks (especially from BMW drivers - I was one!) and the attention the car gets. I am nearly always asked about the car every time I fill up at the petrol station - I've not had one negative comment and everybody loves the Sonic T colour. I've still only seen 3 or 4 NX's out and about since I have had mine and that's such a nice feeling of exclusivity.

The build quality is another area that the car excels in, I have driven cars much more expensive that the NX who's build quality is no where near as good. All the areas/surfaces you touch regularly are of a very high quality. Okay further down the doors the trim is more "normal" and the plastic around the window buttons is a little hard and cheaper looking but to be honest I'm nit-picking and finding it hard to find much wrong with the car. I've not had a single rattle, squeak, shake or noise that I didn't expect - I really couldn't be happier with my choice.

I haven't used ECO mode at all, Sports mode once or twice but I normally drive around in the standard mode which is fine 99% of the time and plenty quick enough for me.

And finally, I think the biggest compliment I can pay the NX is I have not missed my BMW once during the 1000 miles and do you know what, I don't think I will.

I'm very happy with my decision to go for the NX and would recommend both the NX and Lexus to anyone.

But of course, I telling you things that you guys already know! :D

  2. Hi Paul,

Welcome and congratulations on your new car - you beat me by a day as I got mine on Dec 12th!

I so nearly went for the Mesa Red as they had one in the showroom but ended up with Sonic T.

Glad you are liking it so far, I'm the same.....we can compare notes as the miles go by - although I think you will be doing more miles than me by the sounds of it!

Great choice and hope she brings you many miles of enjoyable motoring.

    All the best

    Oh and Merry Christmas!

  3. Looks great, enjoy. How does it compare to the nice Bentley parked in corner of photo?

Totally different cars, the Bentley is a 4X4 W12 6.0 litre monster that is only used at weekends or when the weather is nice or if I need to blow away the cobwebs!

The NX is going to be my daily car and in it's own way is just as nice to drive. Both cars make me feel special when I drive them which is what it's all about in my book!

  4. Hi everyone,

Finally picked up my new "baby" at the weekend and I'm loving it.

I love the colour combination and everyone that sees it has commented on the colour and the great look of the car.

I must say the handover at Lexus Coventry was great. The car was in its own handover showroom with a black drape over the car when we arrived. My son
videoed the unvailing as the salesman pulled the cover off the car - quite dramatic!

I was then shown over the car and talked through all the features and finally when I was happy and understood where most things were I drove the car out of the showroom. The only downside to the day was the weather!

I've only put about 100 miles on the car so far and still haven't tried out all the "toys" but will do so over the coming days/weeks for sure but my initial feelings are the car is very nice indeed - the car handles well, is very comfortable and quiet and the ML stereo sounds epic (to my ears anyway). I'm very happy with my purchase.

I know MPH is important (although it wasn't my main reason for buying the NX) and at the moment since picking the car up I'm getting around 34mpg but it is early days of course.

I will be taking the car over the Xmas holidays to North Wales and will have a better idea how it handles longer trips then.

I will give a more indepth review once I've put a few more miles on the car but for now Christmas has come early! :hohoho:

  5. Great review Alec, and with 2300 on mine I find myself agreeing with pretty much every point you've made. I have the F Sport and prefer both the styling and the ride, but the latter in particular is so subjective the best advice can only ever be go and try them for oneself.

My mpg is slightly better at 36 average, I have possibly done a few longer journeys than you. The adaptive cruise is brilliant, it takes so much stress away and I've used it on A road and dual carriageway journeys as well as the motorway. Likewise the adaptive fog lights, hold button and power tailgate are all great to have, the Qi charging pad not so.

Coming from an IS300h (and prior to that an IS250) I did wonder whether I'd notice the power difference, and had a couple of extended test drives before buying (having read all the comments on here). I really don't have any issues with it, it's plenty powerful enough for me. I haven't used Sport or Sport+ mode at all, that did make a big difference to the IS300h so it will be interesting to give that a go at some point. Personally I think Eco mode is a waste of time, I drive in Normal and like many others enjoy the game of keeping it in EV, particularly in slow moving traffic.

I was parked in a pretty big out door car park yesterday (Brighton Amex stadium) and the car stood out like a beacon amongst the nondescript plethora of other makes. Loved it [emoji3]

I think thats one of the things I'm really looking forward to most, the fact I will be driving something "different" to most other people on the road (or car park!)

  6. I've been looking at the Premier, as I like my toys and my current car has most of the options on the Lexus.

I do like the look of the F-Sport better from the outside but I'm not a fan of the black interior or black head lining - I like the lighter leather/Interior (no kids now to mess it up!).

I'm off tonight to a Manager Sales Event at a Lexus garage nearby where they are offering "Special" prices and they have a choice of 5 Premiers for me to choose from all arriving next month. Sonic White, Black, Blue, Sonic Titanium and a Red one actually in the showroom already all with Pan roof and ivory interiors.

  7. Thanks everyone for all your comments and advice. I will take it all onboard.

As I said I'm going for a second test drive this weekend and will make my decision afterwards but looking forward to driving the NX again.

I'm glad most of the comments are good - no car is perfect I know that - but to my way of thinking the NX ticks most boxes for me at the moment.

    Roll on the weekend!

    Cheers,

    Mark

  8. Hello everyone I’m new here, first post.

I have to confess I'm not actually a Lexus NX300h owner yet but took a test drive at the weekend and really loved it.

Sluggish, poor ride, noisy CVT gearbox, over-priced posh RAV4 etc - I'd read all the "expert" reports on the car, watched all the videos out there too and very nearly didn't even bother considering it as a viable option for my next car – until I went for a test drive last weekend to make up my own mind and I’m so glad I did!

Whether my expectation of the car had been reduced after reading so many mediocre reviews of the car I will never know, but I was initially very impressed even surprised with the vehicle.

The general feeling was of a real quality interior with a surprising amount of space in the rear seat area and although the boot space was “not class leading” it was perfectly big enough for me and my needs.

I loved the look of the car actually in the metal and really got on well with the driving - the seats were so comfortable and the cars performance and handling were fine as far I am concerned, not sluggish at all as some reports had said.

I also noticed the attention the car caused on the road, just during my test drive there were a number of people looking at the car as I drove by. I’ve only seen two other NX's out and about so far so I know they are a rare sight at the moment. This is going to be a completely different experience to driving my BMW as they are such a common sight on our roads.

I should explain I am looking at the NX primarily as an option to get my company car benefit-in-kind tax down compared to the BMW that I currently drive due to the low CO2 emissions of the Lexus.

I'm going for another test drive this weekend and if I still feel the same afterwards I will "go for it" despite what most of the experts say!

This will be my first ever Lexus.
