  1. I have a Mk1 GS300 that I'm breaking for spares, the exhausts were in good condition when I last used it (2 or 3 years ago) if you are still looking make ma a sensible offer. I'm based in Essex.

  2. Try PM'ing WOW300, he is breaking a mk1 Sport.

    Hello Kevin,

You wanted "all the central locking motor and door lock in the R/H front door for a 1996 lexus mk1 gs300 sport". Are you still looking and are the parts on the sport the same as the ordinary Mk 1 GS300? If so, I may be able to help as I'm breaking my old one.

  3. I've just had my OMVL gear changed over from my Mk1 GS300 to my Mk 2 by Alan Baskerville Mansel of Essex LPG Autogas of Gt Stambridge near Rochford in Essex. The standard of workmanship was much higher than my first conversion and there is positively no difference in performance between LPG and petrol. There could be three reasons for this:

1 A larger fuel filter has been fitted.

2 The injectors have been fitted in the bottom of the manifold rather than the top (as my previous conversion).

3 Possibly the setting up (by computer) could be better.

I can thoroughly recommend this company.

  4. Hello,

I'm in the process of changing my OMVL Dream LPG injection system over from a GS300 to a GS300 Mk2 and have just read this topic.

Are the GS300 Mk 2 valve seats more prone to damage than the original GS300? I didn't have Flashlube before, do I need it now? Since the topic is somewhat dated are there any updates on the information given? Any halp would be appreciated.

  5. Thanks P4UL T,

I appreciate your help, however I see that the devices are suitable for models from 2001 onwards, mine is a bit older, but knowing that such devices are available off the shelf is a positive step in the right direction.

Thanks also Breezeblock, I too would be a bit skeptical of sending off to the US and getting something that may or may not be quite suitable. I was hoping somebody would know where on my unit to solder in a couple of wires.

P.S. The capital of Macedonia is Skopje, I was last there in late 2002 on my way from Belgrade to Pristina.

  6. A quick surf of the web reveals that Lexus spare parts from mail order companies are significantly cheaper in the USA than over here. Has anybody experience of purchasing spares this way? Are their difficulties with Customs and Excise on large items? Are carriage charges prohibitive? How difficult is it to return an incorrectly supplied or defective spare?

  7. Presumably, because Lexus are petrol injection, when converted they start and run on LPG (am I correct in this assumption?).

I cannot access the PowerShift website at present, but seem to remember that cars that have to start on petrol, such as conventional carburettor models do not qualify for congestion charge exemption.

I am not planning to use my car in London, but if I were, would liaise very carefully with PowerShift and the congestion charge administrators if this formed part of my economic calculation. There may be obscure parts of this legislation for example an emissions test may be required under certain circumstances.

Has anyone with a Lexus gained this exemption, what did they have to do to get it?

  8. My car is a mark 1, I do about 20000 miles per year and yes the conversion is not cheap, however I understand that the government will give a generous grant for cars under 5 years old under their Powershift programme, they ran out of money in December last year, but I am advised that they get a new budget at the beginning of April.

My main concern is has anyone any experience of running a GS300 on LPG and what if any are the technical pitfalls, for example performance-wise or consumption-wise or even less obviously possible damage to the catalytic converters?

Various types of conversion are available with widely differing prices and it would helpful to know which types are OK and which best to avoid.
