250 is still a far superior car though despite being SLIGHTLY slower.

The 250 was never supposed to be a performance car unlike the 200t that simply isn't quick enough for its class.

People buying 2 litre turbo vehicles are looking for quick acceleration and power.

The 200t simply does not deliver. Nobody wants to buy it in the uk and that's why lexus have give it neck.

Interesting to see what car you are comparing the 200t to, as there are 2.0 petrol saloon cars despite being turbocharged arent as quick as the 200t say Merc C200 185bhp 0-62 = 7.3ish..... for a C-class slightly quicker / more power you can't even buy in the UK - the C250 petrol and I thought the IS200t was a base model for the IS just like the IS200 and IS250 back in the day....

More people are edging towards more fuel efficient cars - hence the rise of diesel in the US

an MK2 hybrid would have ensured there was no IS220d and would have killed off the IS250 earlier. Remember that the RX400h came out in 2005 - a great hybrid system in its own right.

Possibly so ?? Although I do remember when the 2Gen IS was released in the UK, there was a waiting list !! did manage to source a base spec IS250 (with OEM 16inch wheels) from somewhere far in the UK but someone beaten him to it then get a call and manage to source a IS250 SE !!

This is confirmed, because look at the original launch of the third gen IS, the sales of IS250 were nearly non-existant with most people choosing the Hybrid model.

That was partly due to lack of marketing of the IS250, at the time and I don't recall them marketing the IS200t either !! Unless i missed it....

  2. Isn’t the UK one of the biggest market for Lexus in Europe after Russia ? I heard sales of Lexus in UK and Europe gone up last few years or is that increase just for hybrids only ? As I notice some European countries offer the GS200t that’s not offered in UK and NX200t is available in the cheaper non f-sport trim and in 2WD whereas UK offer it F-sport 4WD only, and also several reports about petrol powered cars increased due to the VW scandal so would of thought it be bad time for Lexus to discontinue the 200t (understandable  if they discontinued it or not release it for UK before the VW scandal when diesel cars was at its peak), also could it be to do with marketing the IS200t ?? or lack of marketing / promoting it ? I  remember when the 3 Gen IS was released, all they did was market the IS300h whether it’s a TV commercial or magazine and even radio, however no mention of the 250 or more recently the 200t, it seems Lexus also promote and market the hybrid cars !!

  3. Thanks !, So the 300h is lower than say the is250 etc ?? Can't say I noticed or compared the height of them 2 ! I did see a pic of a JDM IS300h with the RSR lowered springs 10-15mm F and 15-20mm R and it looks quite low if not very low then again the way and type surface the car is parked can often make a car look higher / lower than it is !! As for getting F-sport yes I would love to, however more non f-sport than f-sport and my main points I be looking for is mileage i want and price of the car than the trim levels (it be second hand) but hey if F-sport one comes up with the mileage I want and within my budget then it be perfect ! :)

  4. Hi all, currently got IS250 I be changing few month time for IS300h, anyone lowered it on lowering springs ? It appear to be slim pickings for choice on 300h, bit more for 250 and even 200t, lot less parts for the 3rd Gen IS than 2nd and even 1st gen IS !! I did find the Japanese brand RSR but that lowers it by 10-15mm front and 15-20mm rear for non F-sport that is not alot !!!! where as on f-sport is lowers by 25-30mm that sounds more satisfying, I assume the f-sport suspension are lower anyway ?? It be easier to buy f-sport (easier said than done) but there are lot more non f-sport than f-sport, if you look at the trim from SE, executive, luxury, sport, premier etc so yes there be a chance I get a non f-sport one !! Any other suggestion on lowering springs ? Not wanting to go the coil over route......
