1. Thanks I’ll sign up. First it’s for a hobby then perhaps a small business with my son. I started a paint protection company over 10 years ago and did well from that. I have invested in Rupes equipment and am researching what else will be needed. I also want to bring back my LS460 to look as good as I can make it and enjoy that experience. Many thanks
Same as me. I'm considering moving into the valeting / detailing business as I'm facing redundancy again. Really want to do something I enjoy for a few years.

2. If you sign up for detailing world and ask the question there you will definitely get your answer. Many of the guys have brought the simple eBay ones and have been happy with them.

They are a handy thing to have but I have not got one yet. Depends on what you are aiming to get done or do regarding polishing or compounding and to what degree.

3. I'd be surprised if the water pump hasn't been done already as they have about 10 years in them before they go, if not it probably wont be long until you hear it if it's not been done. They are a fixed price at Lexus and it's worth going there to get it done. To my knowledge you get new coolant added at the same time.

Spark plugs to be honest I wouldnt bother with they will be fine and it's a big expense to get them done.

I would however look at the brake calipers on these as they are a known issue and seize up. The slide pins need regular greasing and Lexus dont do it. Simple to do yourself though or a trusted mechanic.

You should get many more miles of motoring out of it they are fantastic cars.

4. leelacey17 I've just looked on their website and cannot see any rubber refills, only the whole blades, so I'll drop them an email and see what they can do.
C Andrew GreenThe titles and descriptions of the links are for the whole wiper blades and not the rubbers.  Thanks any way.
Just buy the whole thing it's so much easier. Probably cheaper as well.

5. As we are in lockdown and trying to find things to occupy our time, polishing the car seems quite popular with the majority of us.

So, what do you think is the best Polish to use on your paintwork?

That's a very open ended question. Depends on how its applied and what your trying to achieve. As mentioned what protection are you going to use after? Will you clay the car prior?

6. With the arrival of some spring-like weather over the past few days, I decided to give the car some TLC so had a chance to use the Bouncers Dress To Impress on the tyres.
To be honest I found that it didn't do much for the tyre walls but I'm guessing that I probably need to give each tyre a proper clean first before applying the Bouncers (any advice on what product to use to do this would be much appreciated).
What I did like about it though is how well it made the the exterior black plastic trim (wheel arches; side skirts; etc.) come up. A very nice deep black finish. And a little bit of it goes a long way.
So, overall I'm pleased with the purchase.
Thanks again for all the recommendations.
Give some of this a go on the tyres prior to application. Cleans the rubber superbly and gives you a good clean base to work on. Might need a couple of hits but it's very good, you wont believe the muck it pulls out. 9ca2dc0beb1ad5f18fd1dcd55e8e8361.jpg

7. The best bet if your budget will stretch would be a SE-L model as that has all the gadgets if that's your thing. Look out for Mark Levinson audio as its brilliant. I wouldnt advise a manual as it's not great and the road tax is a small fortune, best get a smooth auto and relax plus lower road tax.

You dont say your budget but there will be a few things to look out for when buying. So what BMW did you come from?

8. Gyeon tire express is superb and leaves a lovely natural finish. Autoglym tyre gel is good but can sling a bit if over applied.

If you can make sure these go on a clean tyre they will last longer and regular topping up seems to help.

Gyeon tire express on my Mazda a few weeks ago. A little goes a long way. c5cb108b86555af704d623eaab530a94.jpg

9. I guess colour was more important in case if I would wax to top-up. My experience with older gen of consumer grade ceramics is that you can still get better water beading from natural waxes, so I am looking more for protection from ceramics and less of slickness/beading.
I was under impression that market has moved nowadays and it is possible to do both with single ceramic application (I just don't know what that is - hence the thread).
• In short if there is a perfect product which can both protect and provide good self-cleaning/water beading properties - I would like to know what that is.
• If there are no such single product, then I would be looking at ceramic basecoat for protection and then whatever comes on top for self-cleaning/water beading.
As for decontaminating before polishing - I always do that. Otherwise (depending how much contamination there are) you maybe be just swirling the point for sometime with the same contamination before actually getting to any results + will require cleaning the pads more than necessary. So decontaminating just saves time in long run and allows to achieve better results quicker + less consumables like pads and polishing compounds.
Problem I have now - I kind of decided to go "quick polish + Moonlight" route until spring, but I cannot find moonlight for sale - out of stock everywhere or £50.

I would call in2detailing up and ask about ceramics as the list is endless. Imran is the guy who runs it and is very knowledgeable and very helpful. I can list lots different ceramic coatings but he will know far more than me.
