Timing is out mate
Check if it had a belt sometime
light blue/ white smoke is timing
when it hot the engine retards and you get the delivery at the wrong time

Was sitting her just thinking
what make you drive fast
I’m just sold on the sound , and even tho I’m not a boy racer , the car makes me feel like that
is this why the normal car guy goes 1st for the exhaust or is it just me
I’ve been in the trade for a long time and have owned many loud V8 ,little pocket rockets but non have made me feel this way
just love my GSF
maybe it still new to me but there is something turning my years down
trying to be grown up about it , without turning into a pest on the roads

Look into fitting an oil catch tank onto your motor
that will stop you EGR problems and oil build up on the intake side
also use a low ash oil
using the wrong oil is the main cause
-
If you have access to lifter it a diy job
buy a gear box service kit , which is a sump gasket , a filter and the oil
make sure it is cold before working on it
drain the oil and then remove the gear box sump
once the sump is off ,remove the oil pick up filter , 5 bolts
Make sure you clean the sump before refitting , top up oil and it should be fine
filters break down and pull in on themselves which causes the problem
to reset th3 code , pull the ecu fuse , wait 5min then replace
job done

It just to small for a car like this
the euro trips ,I’ll be stopping at every station
going to look into the standard Gs tank , sure it bigger
not really worried how much it uses,
Was used to 375 or more before filling up
-
Just found my 1st pet hate on my GSF
the fuel tank is just too small
60 pound# to fill up and only gets me 250 mile
My is250 has a bigger tank

when are the old posts cleared or do they just sit there forever
was looking through some old meets posts and I think the start from 2009
seem a bit long
was looking for something new

I know people mean well when helping out but know wheel and how they work is key
wheels are all about the off set
is 250 is a 42 off set ,114.5 hole centre, 8j on the standard is
this is the same all along the Lexus range ,Gs is ls
off set starts at 42 to 38 which is the max you can do with out adjustments
anything more adjustments is needed
1st thing I would say is NO to spacers
42 off is standard and the wheels fit more into the wheel arch
40 would bring them out and make it look a lot better and no mods needed , no rubbing
38 bring the farther out and the 1st changes are needed (camber adjustments)
if you don’t do this you find steering pulls on uneven roads etc
dont want to go no farther than this
anything else suspension work is needed
in short stick to 42 to 40 off sets and you fine
finding your off st on your wheels
remove wheel and the width and off set are stamped on the back
nice and easy
I’ve got my is250 , on 40 off set with 8.5 j width 19” and the rear a 40 off set 10j width 19 with no rubbing problems
I’m also running 235 /35/19 tyres on the front and 275 /35/19 on the rear

You need to get it pressure tested
it could be leaking onto a hot spot
these are the dangerous leaks that kills head gaskets
if the level drops just below the head gasket line , the temp. Gauge will still read normal ,but burn the head gasket causing damage to many other parts
get it sorted
oil burner don’t like to be overheated

I made mine 25x25. ,used the stock inserts, and bought longer ht steal bolts
carried out the work within an hour , so not difficult
you can buy the on e bay as well but the come from the US and it was 3 day delivery

Mechanic for 33 year
for the last 10 years I’ve been pushing a pen ,and now running the workshop
-
When you use spacers the off set changes and you will need camber bolts to adjust
the stranded camber won’t take the off set and the handle of the car changes for the worst
will advise 2 things
get the right off set wheel
or spend more for camber part ie lower and upper wish bone

-
As they say , never cut spring
find a good mechine shop
get them to make lowering blocks 25mm that will mount on the front strut and rear strut
that all you need , with your stock springs
car drops ,and you dont lose your ride comfort

Once I find one I’ll get
for now that will do
