I would do it myself, but if you don't want to spend much time then I would go and ask detailer to polish them.

Many places that do hand washing as well do little bit of detailing, so I would ask them first, as they may ask less money than good detailers.

The kit you copied would do the job if you have electric drill, but it is not ideal. In principle any polishing compound which is meant for car paint can polish headlights as well, wet sanding is only needed only in cases where headlights are badly oxidised and yellowed.  Other note - if you do it on the car, then be very careful around bumper and tight spots - it takes no time to burn hole in plastic with power tools (ask me how I know).

This is just example of quick hand polish using cheap Farecla G3 "scratch remover" on a sponge by hand (far from actually good products) and results were very good:

In principle, if you know what you doing then it is not difficult to polish headlights

    Thanks for great reply.

Is there a way to change bulbs and put more brighter ones

  2. Hi

    Got 2014 Is300H

Headlights are feeling very less power recently, asked the main dealers they told me to get lights polished.

Can any one suggest where to in Birmingham / Solihull … also was looking at DIY options on amazon and looks like

3M 39073 Headlight Lens Restoration Kit to Restore Dull/Faded/Discoloured Headlights

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0078IHJ1K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KJ4HWEKTF56WC9TXZVN9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

    any good ?

Also not sure it will be ok…

Are there any options to increase builds intensity like after market hid etc.

    Thanks

Yes, that's the one that came up. It's the same capacity, 45Ah,  as the Toyota replacement (28800-YZZQX) and it looks a similar size. But the positive is on the left, looking at the front, rather than on the right in the Toyota one. It might be difficult to connect the terminals even if it was possible to put it in back to front.

This is correct one if you want non AGM ( with terminals as per original side)

    Advantages are twofold (maybe more):

    1. If the battery is in the boot like it is in the RX, it's effectively in the cabin. If the car rolls over in an accident the acid is held in gel form in the glass matting and can't leak out and possibly come into contact with the occupants of the cabin.

    2. AGM batteries can handle a deeper discharge without being damaged [as much as a wet battery would be].

    Thankyou ....

It won't tell you that it's a "suitable" battery because, according to their systems, it isn't. It's like medical drugs being licenced for one use but then they find it's also useful for something else although it's not been licenced for that use yet.

I think what Mark means is that it's the correct physical size to fit in the battery tray and it has the terminals the correct way round. If that's the case then it will work and do the job, even though it's not the 'correct' battery for the car. It's just a short-term workaround to keep your car on the road until the dealer rings you to say that they have your 'proper' battery in stock.

Thanks so on a separate note what is the advantage of AGM , why  not use the normal on long term.

If done correctly jump starting shouldn't really damage anything, but charging the battery via battery tender would be better and safer option. I cannot say how much electricity that would use (I don't think it would be much if noticeable at all), but in either case it will be significantly less than accidentally damaging something when jump starting.

Secondly, there is large choice of aftermarket batteries which are both cheaper and better than OE, so I would worry about waiting for stock to be available from dealership - just order compatible battery from any shop.

Many Thanks tried calling and searching online but can't find "compatible battery". Any suggestions...

i have just done a search at eurocar parts in hampshire

and they seem to have them in stock now

i dont think its an AGm though but it will keep you going until

    your new lexus battery arrives

the euro carparts lion 063 battery is £64.99 if it keeps you on the

move then i think its worth the cost ,and once the AGM battery

is fitted you'll have a spare battery in case you ever need to jump start

your car or someone else's car

remember you DONT jump start another car from a hybrid car it can

cause damage to the hybrid car.

Many Thanks how are finding "lion 063 battery" is correct Battery? because when I am searching I am getting no suitable batteries

May be due to AGM ?

  8. I am currently struggling to get a new Battery from main dealer and elsewhere as where.

Have tried almost all options and no dates as to when can I get new Battery. Have already back ordered with dealer !

I am jump starting with power pack every morning as Battery doesn't hold charge for even 3-4 hours. T

Question is can it damage anything like hybrid Battery or anything else if I keep on jump starting every morning?

The other option seems to work is if i leave the Battery on charge all night  via CTEK and then start from a charged Battery , not sure how much much electric it suck if i am charging every night and will it be heavy of electric bill or is it not much?

    Thanks

It’s not really how long a battery hasn’t been charged for. It’s whether the battery is holding its charge once it has been charged. If it doesn’t hold its charge it is faulty. Or you have a fault in the car that is causing a constant drain on the battery. You believe you have a faulty battery so it would be worth trying to get a replacement battery from any source. Got to be better than waiting a month or more for a replacement.

Fair point thanks , can you recommend any breakers in or around birmingham,

  10. Hi

Car was standing for 2.5 month not started and now Battery fails if not started for 16 hours. Got 12V Battery checked at a dealer and they think its ok but that's typical dealers.

Charged already few times and also left few time for 60 min plus with nothing else but still goes flat after 16 hours. Can't think of anything else as it was perfectly fine before leaving the car for 2.5 month without starting as I was abroad.

Anyways decided to change or please suggest any other solution.

I see everyone recommending Lexus IS Phase 3 Auxiliary 12V Starter Battery which is genuine Battery but its out of stock.

I have spoken to 2 different dealer both saying its out of stock and both dealer said a normal AGM or non AGM Battery cant be used which am not believing but then checking on different parts site there is no 12V Battery listed by most other suppliers except Platinum Prestige Battery (30,000 Engine Starts) b030e 12v battery on some sites and Varta Battery on eBay.

So kind of confused where else can I get and what can I get.( specification) and is above ok

I have tried a normal non AGM Battery in Prius previously and it worked OK for years without trouble but just wanted to get forum opinion on it

    Thanks all in advance.
