  1. Hi All,

I have the SE-I RX which has xenons (no LED DRL's - they  came in the facelift). The drivers side Xenon has fused and i'm looking for a replacement.

I was satisfied with the lights (i.e happy with the brightness at night etc) so want a replacement that looks OEM. I.e not a whiteish light, but a blue light. I have found some on amazon - OSRAM Cool Blue Intense D4S - 6200k.

Has anyone here tried this bulb? Does it look stock (i.e. bluish, not after a white light nor something that looks too blue)?

    Thanks

  2. Hi All,

My AFS sensor light is flashing orange & my mechanic said the sensor + mount at the rear needs replacing.

I have seen quite a few on eBay although they appear to be from the earlier gen RX 400h. Did the 450h have a different part, or would a 400h part fit?

For example, the following appears to be compatible with both the 400h and 450h  -

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253475477667?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=6dfd73ee48d64cd295e487da10c2bb38&bu=44929396204&osub=-1~1&crd=20230702130017&segname=11051

    would this work?

    Thanks

  3. Hi All,

I have the key fob that slides down to reveal a Battery cover with 4 tiny screws. The Battery cover is missing however (it was when i got the car) and because of this the Battery is not 'snug'. Sometimes the Battery comes loose and the key fob doesn't work, so i have to slide the cover and press in the Battery to make it work.

I have tried stickiing a piece of cardboard in to press the Battery down but it eventually moves and doesn't work. Does anyone know where i'd get this Battery cover/plate?

I've looked on eBay but they only seem to be the shells/cover, i.e. doesn't look like they include this Battery cover.

I haven't tried Lexus yet, assuming they may want to replace the entire fob?

    Thanks

  4. Hi all,

I just drove my dad's RX 450h and noticed quite a few squeaks & rattles over uneven/bumpy roads. It has done 135k miles so not too surprising lol, although it means the ride isn't as refined as a lexus should be.

There's this really persistent squeak (kind of like a bird chirping) over the tiniest of bumps, and it's quite annoying.  It's coming from the front, i believe the driver side. Could it be the suspension? I read on another Lexus forum to spray lots of grease/lubricant over the suspension.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    thanks

You should be able to use this button to move right and left and select different menus. One is a customisation menu that allows you to change the sensitivity of the light sensor, another to change what triggers door locking/unlocking (i.e. speed or gear selection in and out of P), easy access (partial/full), etc. Most of the customisation options are only available when the car is in 'P' (not accessible in Drive mode).

As I said, it's been a while since I've owned an RX but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If in doubt, you may need to check your handbook (vehicle customisation or just customisation). You can download one from the Lexus website.

Hi, i think this feature was added in the 2012/13 facelift perhaps, mine doesn't have this.

    Update:

You post made me investigate on my car - - and then I realise that my previous post was complete rubbish!

    Apologies

When you reach the point on your nav/mmi system, and navigate to vehicle settings - there are indeed a number of onscreen buttons - - (the vehicle customisation' button is greyed out.

Until you power up the car - - then, as if by magic (!) - the button springs into life - and you can customise all the options available

    Hi,

thanks for yours response. Mine is a 2010 model, which has the 2010 - 2012 infotainment system, quite different to the system added in 2013 (or end of 2012). Mine isn't greyed out, the button just isnt there. Its literally disappeared. I know for sure its gone because i remember clicking on the vehicle customization button when i bought the car (about 2 years ago). I've made sure the cars started, in park, handbrake on and it still isn't there...

  7. Hi all,

I've got a 2010 rx450h with the nav/mmi system. When i navigate to vehicle settings on the system, typically there's 3 buttons. First is 'maintenance', second is 'LEXUS park assist' however there is no third button. I know for sure this third button should show 'vehicle customisation' because i remember i've selected this a while back (maybe 1 or 2 years ago).

I'm now trying to get to that menu but its missing - i'm not sure whats wrong. I've made sure the car is in park with the handbrake on.

    Anyone else had this issue?

Hi there. I don't think the gen 2 is250 multimedia system allows music streaming. Gen 3 definitely yes. SE-L spec is the one to go for. In the arm rest cubby hole is a 12v power socket and an AUX socket. I have Bluetooth music streaming made capable by buying a Bluetooth adapter and putting it in that cubby hole. Leave and forget. It connects to my phone within 2 seconds of starting my car. If you're interested I'll post just what is needed. It's child's play really.

hey, any chance you could link the BT adapter? If it's easy enough to use i may consider it...

I have an 07 250 and have fitted a VL-2 unit which ( using android) brings the infotainment system bang upto date, you can install google maps, Waze,TomTom, whatever you wanna use, it is let down though by the limitations of the screen technology ie. no ‘Pinch’ option etc and the definition. Although a plus is the fact that the dash still looks completely factory.

    thanks for the suggestion.

that would be my go to move if it was for me, however my parents aren't the best with technology and would prefer the 2010 Multimedia system. Its looking like there's a few 2010 SE-I's for sale with that MM system, so i may just go with one of those.

Hi as I understand the system it is not possible to upgrade the older system ,the newer unit is based around a hard disc system and the sat nav upgrades etc are dealer only via a laptop download .I think you will benefit from the later models upgrades , I am very pleased with my 2011 SEL system although some people do not rate the sat nav set up .I find it OK as it has a full post code function and we have done many continental tours with no problems. Just keep searching there is a car out there for you but you may have to travel ;I live in Morecambe and purchased mine in Cambridge ( although a convertible was more difficult to find )

    good luck. Dave

okay, fair enough - looks like it'll be a 10 plate or newer for me. I'll keep looking, but eventually may just settle for an SE-I as there's a few of those on autotrader atm. The convertible is a beauty though, so congrats on your find 🙂

  11. Hi all,

i'm currently helping my mum buy an IS 250 SE-L (would consider a well speccd SE-I too). The multimedia system is an important feature for the sat nav, Bluetooth (phone + music) and reverse camera. My dad has a 2010 RX 450h, and my parents love the multimedia system in it - they find it extremely easy to use, and prefer to use its sat nav over the garmin one they have. It also has Bluetooth music streaming/handsfree.

I've been looking at IS250's for a while, and my impression is that although the facelift arrived on the 09' plates onwards, the multimedia system referenced above comes on 10 plate IS250's and onwards. Most of the facelifted SE-L's i've seen are 58/09/59 plates, which still feature the older multimedia system.

Would it be possible to buy a 2005 - 2009  IS 250 with the older multimedia system, and upgrade it to the 2010/11 system? Or should i just keep looking for a 2010 SE-L (or possible settle for a SE-I?)

    Thanks

I have a 2010 SE-L Premier, with just shy of 100,000 miles. The air-suspension has proved unproblematic in the short time I’ve owned it (12 months, 20,000 miles) and in its history according to the My Lexus app.

The comfort, luxurious, speed and sheer convenience make it a handy companion. However, I do find tight car parks a royal pain in the *****.
