Hello everybody,

My RX300 2001 runs great, 18 yrs in the family. Unfortunately I replaced the Battery a week ago and the auto close function, the one that closes automatically all windows and sun roof the you close the car with the remote, is not working anymore. I tried to re program all windows and all works perfectly, but the auto close function not.

I checked the auto open function using the key at driver door, does not work either. 

So I guess has been disconnected while changing the Battery.

Anybody knows how to reactivate? After 18 yrs enjoying this feature now I really miss it!

I need help to disconnect the speed limiter. It is really uncomfortable when speeding (Spped is Freedom for the Soul) get the car stop and stop and stop again everytime I reach the top speed, with 1500 rpm more to run!

Sorry to tell you that European DVD's does not work with US CPU's.

US are DENSO, EU are AISIN, then you will need to change the CPU.

Hi there,

First check if you have the electrical system ready to install the cpu for the navigation. To check this, please take a look on the right side of the trunk, below carpet, if you have any connectors. To do it, you need to open the spare wheel cover, take out all plastic covers, and also the right side small box.

If you have the connectors, then everything is easy, if not, you should make the connection by yourself, and I do not recommend if you are not familiar with car electrics. Also have in mind that you will need to take out almost half of the dash & the central console. Even more, the installation of the voice features is even more difficult, as the amplifier is located under the back seat, and the connections should be make directly to the amplifier. Therefore, you will need to take out the seats, and this is something that take time, and it is not easy.

My car went out from factory with the sat-nav screen (touch) but without the Nav system installed. Means that everytime you press the sat nav menu buttoms, you thave the ad of2external system is not connected). After done all the job I finally isntalled a nav cpu as well as an external video input to watch ipod videos on the screen as well as a rear view camera.

Some things about Lexus nav computers & screens:

To have video features on the nav screen, it is imperative to have the nav system installed.

The US computer does not read European discs and vice versa. Please check with Australian models what cpu model you need (Aisin or Denso).

Are really difficult to find at good price (eBay prices are around 900 USD). The European version is almost impossible to find it used and working. New cost around 4.000 USD.

After making my installation (time consuming and brain burning) I only recommend you to do it if you are really familiar with car mechanics and electric and if you really want to do it. Honestly, I am not using nav, jsut the video features. I live on an Island.

Have in mind that the tomtom or similar costs around 400 € with all Europe installed...

Anyway, I have all the electrical diagrams, you tell me.

About the cruise control, I know that the Prius models have all the electrical installed from factory, even with the system connected or not, check if the RX you own have the wiring.

Any body knows how to lock the central diff while offroading?

The car goes really well off road, but sometimes the trac control is not enough. For example, in sand or climbing dirty surfaces.

The Snow button really works? Or just starts the car in 2nd? I always drive in L while offroading, so I don't know if the snow buttom while driving in L means something.

I own the RX 2001 version and I fitted to the nav screen an external rgb converter to watch external video and rear view camera.

You need to convert the video signal into rgb, thats the reason for the converter. Lexus screens are NTSC, so video input must be NTSC also.

It is easy to fit if you have navigation system (CPU) and you don't mind to cut some wires. If you don't have the CPU even with the nav screen (It was my case), it is not possible as the system will never recognize the video signal input. The CPU sends a specific signal to the screen to activate the input.

So in my case first I had to find a nav CPU (I bougth a US one in eBay and does not work with EU maps), make all the wiring installation (time consuming and a little complicate mission...) and after fit the converter kit.

Please note that if your car has the nav screen and buttoms but did not came from factory with the CPU on the trunk, it is 90% sure that youdo not have the wiring. If you want to do the OEM wiring installation, better forget it. Just the wires are 1.900 € plus installation...

Now I have my RX with the Ipod interface to control the unit with my OEM stereo (Perfect sound and match), and I can watch&listen to video Ipod while driving! Nice and very dangerous, I should mention. BUt also very confortable to wait for my wife whe she is shopping!

before i start pulling out the touchscreen headunit on my rx300 does anyone have a picture of what i will find ie plugs/ harnesses/ wire colours etc i suppose what i am really after is the audio wiring diagram .

since owning the lex i have been more than happy , but boy how difficult is it to find any tech books about the brand any leads on this . thanks

Wellcome to your worst nightmare. I also have a RX with the touch screen, trying for more than two years to find the meaning of the connectors. My idea was to ad a 3rd party video input to the screen, with no success at all. Even in Lexus does not have all the info about the screen. All manuals reach the "Change the screen" sentence when the problem involves the screen...

Anyway, this is the info I have. The screen has 4 connectors, one for the Sat-Nav CPU, another for radio-AA controls, and another for consumption computer. There is another on that should be free if your car does not have the RES. It is white with six pins. They should be ground, sync, red, green and blue. But which one is each one...no idea. Also, no idea about how to make the screen to change from nav or trip information to video input...

Some time ago Vais technology used to have the video interface, and iti s apity that they do not offer them anymore, because the Ipod one really works well.

In case you need wirign from audio, I have the documents. Ask me.

I am going to connect an external dvd to the sat nav screen of my RX300.

On the back of the screen I have four connectors, one of those is for the rgb input (five wires).

I have the video to rgb conversor, the vais input device for the ipod and an extra audio input...

The project is almost finished!

But I still need the pinout meaning for each of these connectors, I don´t want to burn the screen with a miss connection...

If anybody knows the pinout meaning of this connector, I will appreciatte too much,

Also depends of wind speed and direction. I only notice wind noise from the mirrors, but nothing if I evaluate how usefull they are. Anyway, below 75 mph is quite smooth.

Finally I have my nav computer, but now I need a map from Europe 2005, as the unit was bought in USA.

Now I want to get one a good price to install it and then improve the system with the TV tuner and DVD. Of course that for Canary Islands navigation features does not make any sense...

So my real interest is to have TV, rear vision and DVD on the nav screen.

According to dealer and vin number, the car has the proper screen and possible wiring circuit already installed.

Probably I will need also the GPS antenna.

Any help will be appreciatte!

I drive daily for a road with a high density of tunnels with the headlights in auto on.

The problem is that the lights get on late once inside the tunnel.

Anybody knows how to adjust the system to turn on the lights faster? I see others with Scenics than get the lighs on just entering the tunnel and I can drive trought the small ones even without getting mines on!

Any help will be appreciatted.
