  1. I have a 2013 RX450h on 105K miles. The last 2 times I have booked it in for a service at the local main dealer they have asked if I want to pay extra for an engine and Injector flush.

I struggle to see that this is necessary if it is not already included in the standard service. It's also something that was not offered before but not sure if it is recommended because of the age and mileage of my vehicle or just a new way to extract a bit more money from the customer!

Does anyone have any views on this?

    Thanks

  2. They sell a lot of Rxs so I am sure they have a mechanic they use that knows them well. Agree, I would rather have a Lexus warranty though.

Their cars look immaculately prepared though which is what drew me to them. Some of the cars I viewed at Lexus main dealers were very shabby.

Website displays a very wide range of high end vehicles. They may know something about many, but cannot be specialists in all.

Reviews on website and Internet appear to be very good.

If prices are close to used Lexus Dealer prices, then it is a nonsense to buy from them rather than buy from Lexus.

Boss does not appear to warrants its vehicles, but instead uses a 3rd Party warranty eg, RAC. The small prints in such a warranty will include caveats which are not included in Lexus warranties and should therefore,in my opinion be avoided. Caveat Emptor.

Out of interest, has anyone bought a Lexus or had dealings with BOSS Motor Company in Chesham?

They seem to get cars straight from Lexus dealers, some with full Lexus history. They do ask top dollar but are slightly cheaper than a franchise.

I wonder if the dealers get rid of dodgy ones (my caution when spending my hard earned cash!) or it might just be that at certain age a franchise would not wish to sell on their forecourt?

    Any comments lads?

I spoke to them when I was looking for my RX and they seemed very genuine to me. The person I spoke to was definitely a fanatic of the RX and they prepare them to a very high level according to him. All alloys are refurbished, body work and interior prepped. They do charge towards lexus main dealers but the cars to look lovely.

I'm the end I bought from a main dealer and tbh glad I did as I have just had the brake actuator changed under warrantee which would have cost over 2k if I had to pay myself.

That said, I think the cars at Boss motors wild be well worth a look as looked very well preppped. Look on their website and they sell very high end cars all well presented

QUITE SIMPLY, A BRILLIANT ANSWER.I GIVE IT AN A++.

I've got the "brake bark" problem on my 2013 at the moment and it is going into the dealer this week for them to investigate. I posted the problem on here and no one else seems to have come across it but a quick Google shows it to be common but seems to be more in the US for some reason?

Will update once my car has been looked at.

  5. I have a 2013 RX450H and was out today and had to brake fairly hard as a car stopped quickly infront of me. Since then the foot break is making what I can only describe as a squeak or creak in the early part of travel. It does the same when in park so not disks or pads. Noise seems to be coming from underneath passenger area under the car.

A quick Google shows many people talking about brake actuators and air in the braking system. Car is under warranty but wondered if anyone else has had this?

  6. Yes, seat definitely at the lowest level and could not sit up straight. Have now got a 2013 luxury in mercury grey with light grey leather interior. 66k miles when bought in December and full Lexus history. Was a bit concerned about the light grey leather as have 2 young kids but it is holding up perfectly. Very pleased with the car! I would take a photo but it seems to have been raining here for the last 3 months!

  7. Hi,

I picked up a used Lexus 450RX on Wednesday which is approved used.

It is a 2013 model with 66000 miles.

Both mornings when starting from cold there has been a judder and a slight knock for a few seconds and then settles down again. Have had a quick google and seems like this is not an uncommon problem. Some people reporting injectors being replaced, others saying it has happened for a couple of days after an oil change (Oil was changed the day before I picked the car up). Anyone any ideas on this?

    Thanks
