  1. This topic has come up before.  Sounds very like the turbo whine on a diesel car. The consensus was this it is the motors.  On my car (300H) I can only hear the whine when the driver window is lowered and there are hedges on both sides of the road reflecting the sound. Cannot hear anything in the car with windows closed.  It is possible of course that your noise is due to something else and I'm sure the experts on the forum will have an answer.

Thanks for the answers and sorry if this was mentioned before. TBH it was both. The reason I first thought to be HPFP was that I used mechanic's stethoscope to rule out any abnormal noises when the engine was running in maintenance mode. I asked my missus to keep revs at about 2000 rpm and I could clearly hear the high pitch sound comming from the pump. Bought a second hand low mileage part and replaced it with all new o rings and rubber seals. To my wonder the noise from HPFP dissapeared, but the one from electric motors is still present and appears to happen exactly the same way as BigChange explained.

Watched more videos on youtube with is300h or gs300h hard acceleration and heard exactly the same sound (earphones on) as it comes from my car.

As for HPFP noise, found some info on american subaru and toyota forums it can be happening due to ethanol being used in the mix with petrol. Normally it goes away, if you start using higher octane petrol without ethanol mixture. But this needs to be confirmed.

  2. This is epic Remi! Typically resources like this are not around for long. An offline version would be really useful to have for a later in time. Given the breadcrumb structure of the website I'm trying to work out if there is a way to do this...
In the meatime going to make good use of it - as it shows where the clips are on the front speaker covers and where to apply a spudger to remove without damaging trim, I can now confidently inspect my from LH speaker connection which seems to be loose (sounds keeps dropping out and in again).
Thank you, thank you for this.
No problem at all. Yes you are right, the guy who runs the server is from Russia and sometimes it is down. So it would be better to download it on to your own PC. However after multiple attempts I gave up trying as I was getting only half data downloaded (tried to copy all website on to hard drive). Therefore normally I go to his website and just print off the sheets I need. In case the server is down, then i have to re-schedule the repair of my car when it is back on:)
If you could manage to get an offline version that would be great. And please let us know of your success ;) Not sure what program I used, but something like website downloader...

  3. Hi Everyone,

Has anyone of IS300H owners experienced a high-pitched noise comming from high pressure fuel pump on their cars?

The question is what causes that whistle in some particular range of rpms and how serious that is?

Car's got 103k on the clock, used all types of fuel from supermarket to Shell V-Power.

Any ideas how long it's got to live?

    Thanks.

  4. Ive known for a while that that the front crank oil seal needs replacing, up until now it has been a small weep but now it has got to be a lot more than that.

I have searched but can't find any info on torque settings for the crank pulley bolts?

Im hoping to be able to do this without removing things like the radiator if possible, there's a bit of room in there, has anyone done one of these in the past?

    TIA
    Try searching this electronic manual.

Unfortunatelly some of the info is in russian as the server is run by Lexus enthusiast from Russia. And sometimes the server is down. However you can still download required info. Hope this helps ;)

  5. With great difficulty, I was lying on the engine with my arms wrapped around the pipe work so as I could get a 12mm deep reach socket on a long extension bar on it.

Once I had broken the joint t was then a spanner and literally undo it a flat at at time

I was using a small ratchet spanner with deep reach socket, but without extension bar. When tried undoing, the whole car was moving back and forth. And this was when I thought to stop as I did not want to snap the bolts. In your personal opinion is it possible to snap these two bolts off? Cheers.

  6. Very informative write up. I tried following it to inspect my car's egr cooler as I am having small vibration/uneven idle on my IS when cold. However could not complete the procedure as was not able to undo 2×12mm bolts egr to inlet manifold pipe connection. How did you manage to brake them loose? Thanks.
