Got one fitted yesterday by Lexus Chester. Having rung round the dealers in the North West, Chester was the best deal at £1098 supplied and fitted. Lexus Liverpool was the most expensive quote at £1537. 

Ok, I had the tow bar fitted to my RX450h today at Lexus Chester. Having rung round all the dealers in the North West the most expensive was Lexus Liverpool at £1537 and the cheapest Lexus Chester at £1098. I looked at Lexus parts direct and noted I could get the tow bar and electrics for £585 including delivery. Not wanting to invalidate the warranty I got the dealer to do the job and must say I am very pleased with the workmanship.

Currently there are no alternative tow bars for the Gen 4 models from the likes of Witter. It pays to ring around and get quotes from the dealers in your area in order to drive down the price. Prices for exactly the same product vary widely by doing this I got a much better deal than if I had accepted the first price offered from Lexus Liverpool £539 cheaper to be exact.

Hi Jeff, who did you get to do the job I have just rung Lexus Bootle, Liverpool and they quoted me £428.52 for the tow bar, £245 for the electrics and £864 for fitting. They said they don't recognised the Lexus Owners Gold card scheme and had included a discounted labour charge in that £1537.52 charge

Checked all suppliers for a Gen 4 towbar before purchase, and even Witter do not do one, so it has to be Lexus part and Lexus fitted. Also saves warranty issues. It is a removable towbar, and the electric socket hinges up into a space underneath out of the way very neatly. Yes it can be pricey, but if you get the Owners Club Gold Card and use the discount on that, it makes it more feasible. The Gen 4 is a dream caravan towcar, despite most of the caravan pundits espousing diesel. I average about 25 mpg towing 29 cwt single axle.

Out of interest how much did you save with the gold card, I'm in the same position needing a tow bar fitting and know only Lexus fit them at the moment Regards

The Thule website says that their roof bars will fit the RX with a pan roof but warn that the bars will obstruct opening the glass panel. I've ordered the bars from Thule and they don't require the holes in the roof rails so I am hoping they will fit OK. I will find out when my new RX with pan roof arrives next week !

 

looking to get some roof bars for my rx450h 2018 model other than thule what bars are compatible? Thanks

Thanks Gents, I must admit I was expecting this would be the case. 

Hi I own a 2018 RX450h Sport am I right in thinking only Lexus dealers can fit a tow bar to Gen 4 models?
