  1. Evening all, recently noticed my centre air vents are blowing minimal air regardless of selected clime setting. If I increase the fan speed, I can hear it increase though can't feel any difference. Interestingly if I select full down (floor) it does materially change, blowing considerably more air - issue appears to manifest itself in the centre and / or windscreen setting.

For reference at the highest setting I can barely feel any air with my hand directly Infront of the vent and may just be a placebo but it feels as though left vents have even less flow.

Tried disconnecting the Battery for a few minutes didn't seem to solve the problem, any ideas?

Rakesh, according to Postings on this Forum, the CT is well know for scumbags taking its Cat.

Good point John, one wonders what said scumbags will do once the world moves on to electric cars

Woke up this morning, went to car. (CT200) - SHOCK! HORROR!...Damage to bumper as car had rolled backwards into a wall...thought initially it was due to bad brakes...BUT Cat gone, sensors cut!  Really ****ed off. Spent so much time on phone today with insurance company and their approved garages (1 week wait time), so have to hire a car until then and it's not cheap. I will need to pay the excess and car hire (only free when the car goes into the garage of their choice), but before this point, I have to hire one! and of course buying a Cat lock! Had the lowlifes come to my front door last night to tell me they would rip out my Cat or I would need to pay then £300 to avoid this...lol I would have paid them!!! After my excess of £100 and car hire of £250 and Cat lock and fitting from Lexus £250-£275 to prevent it happening again.... and hours and hours spent on the phone....I am down at least £1k GRHHHHH and that is without the stress!!!!

Sorry to hear this has happened to you, I had hoped that the ct would be overlooked as it isn't that well known. One thing I wonder - does your car have a tilt sensor normally if the car is jacked up the alarm should go off

  4. Not of much help but I've been looking into these for a while now, I believe most of these units need a little while to startup similar to restarting your phone which would make it annoying for me everytime i get in the car. In the end i just settled  on using my phone at least it means i can key the destination in while walking upto the car. downside is it needs a power cable attachment but even on that front there are phone holders with wireless charge built it

  5. Alot of really good replies on this topic, Roy is indeed correct the extended warranty does cover far more components than the relax programme, however for me I couldnt get my head around paying the inflated servicing cost having already paid for the extended warranty, I therefore cancelled the extended warranty and received a pro rata refund. I'll go down the relax route for warranty, the next service is a major one and will set me back £460 but is what it is.

Mine is now 27 years old and AC is still working fine, was checked around 8 years ago but told it was OK. Left on all the time and pollen filter replaced 3 times during my ownership of 16 years.

How long have you had yours for Steve if it's been 27 years of ownership that is mighty impressive, I'd quite like to keep mine for as long as physically possible but can't imagine what mine will be like in 20 years!

  7. My alarm seems to go off randomly, sometimes there's a fly that's managed to find its way in, when I press the motion sensor button on the roof to turn it off I can't seem to see any confirmation that it's either off or on I don't get a beep or a light (I have non nav version) - anyone have any ideas?

I once enquired on the cost of a service plan using a Toyota MD as they were a lot closer to travel to.

The plan costs were less than Lexus but Toyota said they could not carry out the hybrid battery health check that had to be done at lexus.

I priced this and as a standalone it was 59.00. then you would have the hassle of taking it to 2 dealers annually.

I thought it was strange that they could do the service but not the battery check (as they do these on Toyota, s anyway)

I concluded that the reason was to always push the customer to get the appropriate services as the lexus dealerships.

That's a good point I hadn't thought to ask if the health check was included, atm lexus are 495 for servicing Vs 343 at Toyota however as you say if you have to add back in the cost of the health check there hardly anything in it

  9. Just had my aircon serviced but this was because i felt it was a little weak, its made a small improvement plus they ran antibac through the system which was very much needed as it had started to smell a bit mouldy with the fans on - mind you mine is 7 years old.

  10. I have the non nav stereo, when I press the Voice command button on the steering wheel there's  a beep then you say the name, now this all works fine except  the beep is ear piercingly loud actually hurts my ears, anyone know of there js any way to lower this?

  11. As far as I can tell this is not a free lunch, lexus used to have essential care servicing which was around 180 for an interm and 295 i think for the full service? this now seems to be 295 and 495 - i guess still less than the warranty and one less thing to remember to renew

I took my LS400 off the road around 6 months ago as it was going nowhere. I plan to fettle it in the Spring, get it over my inspection pit, Dinitrol underneath, service it etc ready for the road again. It is permanently hooked up to my CTEK charger and the plan was to periodically drive it up and down the drive to keep things loose. Due to working all hours preparing my house for sale, the driving up and down the drive has not happened frequently enough. I started it up today and it started no problem, but I have a couple of issues. A notification came up for headlight levelling, although it did not come up the second time when I started again it to move it. The battery light is staying on when the engine is running (the battery is only 18 months old and still in warranty). The other thing I noticed is that the wipers seem slower on every speed setting. Clearly, I need someone to test the battery/alternator but as it is still off the road, does anyone have any ideas?

A simple volt meter should be able to give you an idea if the alternator has an issue anything above 13.2v after starting is reasonable and suggests the issue would be something other than the alternator. Might also be worthwhile checking if the Battery terminals are making a good clean contact

  13. Joined the party a bit late on this one, on two occasions I've booked my ct in for faults both times i was told a diagnostic fee would be payable, the first was for a leaking fuel tank which should was an outstanding recall (purchased AUC dealer didnt pick it up - go figure), second windscreen auto sensing wipers weren't working - turns out the jelly pad was missing and the warranty doesn't cover faults were the part is missing only faulty parts.
