    Dear all,

I am not able to fully open the sunroof using open or tilt buttons. It slightly opens, but does not move further. It gets stuck in there.

Is there a way to reset this? Or is it as simple as a lubricant issue?

I have just applied some WD-40 in and out. It is now working better than ever :).

  2. Dear All,

I notice my 2013 CT slightly swaying to left and right at speeds over 50-60 mphs on the motorway. I initially thought this could be due to crosswinds, but I am being a bit paranoid about it.

I took the car today for a front and rear wheel alignment to an independent reputable garage (not official delarship, I don't trust them anymore). I mentioned the problem, and they told me this could be due to some worn out parts. I should be hearing from them today afternoon.

Have you every had any similar problem with your CTs?

Your suggestions and comments are very much welcome.

  3. Following your advice and seeing the recent news that 14 cat converters were stolen from Cambridge University Hospital car parks, I communicated with Lexus Cambridge and will be getting the cat loc fitted to my CT.

Stay safe and thanks for all the advice.

  4. Dear All,

I started observing this "click" or friction sound on My Lexus CT front left door. I have just added some lubricant on the joints, it became relatively better. But not completely disappeared. I also notice that even though the front left door is aligned with the rear door, I could notice 1-2 mm slight differences.

What do you recommend? Does that pose any security issues?

Hi guys do we know if any of the CTs have rear seat fol out arm rests? my missus/boy are grumbling that ours doesn't have one, having previously been carted about in a Volvo.

I don't think CT200 has anything like that.

That is excellent driving. Neither my wife nor myself get anything near that, but still very happy with the reliability and comfort that come with the little car. Here parking spaces are made for small cars and when we had the Honda Accord Coupé we often had to have the car filling more than one parking space. Never got booked because of that so the people controlling are friendly and understand that not all want a Fiat Uno, Renault 5 or VW lupo. The Toyota IQ would be nice to park here, but do not see many of these, many Smart 2 person cars though.

That's why I switched to BP 97 Ultimate petrol. In the city, I make 50-52 mpg. On highways, I reach sometimes to 65 mpg. With 95 petrol or petrol from other brands for some reason gives lower mileage.

Yup pretty much the case, like I said oil degradation has changed a lot over the years as most oils are synthetic, meaning they can handle higher temps and have a longer life span.

manufacturers from Peugeot to BMW are starting to set a 24000 service intervals due to the particular oils they use.

All that said if you feel as a owner your car needs fresh oil every 5k, that perfectly up to you but to say that if you plan to do over 100k you need to change oil every 5k is a bit misleading.

The M25 is full of Prius's hurtling round with well over 300k on the clock and I cant imagine they are changing oil every 5k.

Thank you very much for all the guidance and feedback. I feel much more comfortable now that my car should last long enough till I am financially stronger to upgrade to a UX250h.

  8. Dear all,

during spring 2023, I will be relocating to Soham/Ely. But I will be working in Cambridge Science Park. This will give me 11 miles of commuting both ways everyday, totalling to 22 miles a day.

I am currently driving a 2013 CT200h and I never had any trouble with the car. I wanted to ask your experiences and opinions on how reliable Ct200h are when it comes to daily commuting. This is now a 9 years old car and I have 64000 miles on it. Do you think it will last for another 5 years if I maintain as usual.

Just a thought: have you found a moment to let Lexus Cambridge know what the solution to your problem turned out to be?

Like most people, I’m sure the mechanics involved will appreciate being given the answer to this particular puzzle.

I am not sure if I will waste my time with this! This is just a very simple problem, yet they are selling the most complex engines in the planet. 🙄

I had a problem where air would stay in the tire just fine when driving around the city, but getting on the highway would always result in a tpms warning light and a flat tire. Turned out the tpms sensor wasn't tightened on the rim properly. As I got up to speed the valve stem would move due to the larger forces caused by speed, letting air out.

Hopefully you'll get yours resolved too.

thank you! this is really useful.

And a pro tyre workshop would be able to find that as well. I thought all Lexus cars had tyre pressure sensors.

Could also be the valve, especially if you have TPMS sensors which tend to corrode.

Go to a pro tyre workshop and have them close the little hole that probably is in the tyre.

When checking our tyres once ever week or less all 4 have close to same pressure and instead of 1.3 have 1.25 or similar.

It could of course be a little defect in the rim, but a pro tyre workshop will be able to find that as well.

I use Lexus to keep warranty on the hybrid battery.

thank you all for your advice and comments. I will book in a tyre service soon.

  12. Dear All,

I have a CT200h 2013 model. When I first bought the car 1.5 years ago from Lexus Cambridge, I noticed the front left tyre was losing pressure in short time (1-2 weeks). Lexus Cambridge called the car back and inspected all the tyres. They have not identified anything wrong with tyres.

In the last 2 months, I am noticing front left tyre loses pressure from 35 to 29 in 2 weeks. I pump air at BP once in a while. Do you think I should take the car to a regular mechanic and get the front tyres checked out?

I used our local ChipsAway guy to repair two scuffed alloys and he did an excellent job.  Of course, it’s a franchise so individual operators may very, but they do offer a free estimate service - and they are in Cambridgeshire.

And they come to you to do it, which is another saving in your time as Insurers may require you to take it to a Body Shop - and leave it there.

Chipsaway gave me a quote of £264.

elmexicano hi, you have reported this to the police and presumably now have a crime number ? ..........

I quite agree with John's thoughts above .......  it seems a relatively trivial matter in car bodywork issues in my view BUT possibly not to you eh !

It looks as tho' it might just polish out ...  but if it's one of the most important objects in your life well, you've   " paid your money ( to your insurer )  so make's your choice "   methinks

Hi, yes I reported and I now have a crime reference number. However, Camb police just sent me an email saying that it won't be further investigated. Does this help with any insurance claim?

  15. Dear all,

Someone keyed my front left door yesterday in Cambridge while I was dining with my family. I have just reported this to the police. Do you think I should claim this from my insurance? Or, it would be cheap to repair?

I have a comprehensive cover, so I guess it could be an insurance claim without affecting my no claims bonus.

    what do you think?

  16. Lexus CT is a beautiful car. I have been enjoying this since last year. I would highly recommend sticking with the dealership service and MOT. When you get an extended warranty, the next 3 years' MOT comes for free. The service is pricy, yes, but it will worth!

    Enjoy the car!

    Most likely not.

The MOT is an inspection and the inspectors are not allowed to carry out any fault-finding, diagnostics or indeed any work at all. This is the reason why you sometimes see "Could not inspect as engine drip tray in the way" or "Could not inspect rear seatbelt due to baby seat in the way."

Also, given that your car is 9 years old, why pay the extortionate rates at Lexus dealers? Find a good auto-electrician (not a general mechanic) and they'll get it done for half the price of Lexus.

so you mean, this is indeed an electrical problem?
