Please let us know how much WBAC offer for it, apparently the “guaranteed price” is rarely given after the inspection.

Offered 2 thousand with knowledge of the broken gearbox and the 19 days MOT left. Gave me 1400 due to bodywork being a grade 4 out of 8. Sorry for late reply I've only just got around to selling it due to work.

Nice car, enjoy. Quite a step up in performance

Thank you. Went into evans halshaw in hopes of getting a newish IS250 ended up test driving it and then the M140i my heart was just more set on it.

I’ll keep a look out for it on BCA then 😀

Was thinking about auctioning it but I doubt there'd be a bidding war over a 2007 Lexus 😂.

If the rest of the car is solid I would find a decent garage and ask them to investigate - NOT LEXUS...why people take cars of this age to Lexus is astounding

A reputable skilled garage will either tell you it can be fixed and this is the cost or they will say its a write off

To be honest I've just bought an M140i so just gonna take the lexus to we buy any car.

The eBay transmission has sold did you buy it Daniel?

So did you pay Lexus £750.00 to sort the gearbox a month ago and it has now failed completely?

What mileage has it done, sounds like an ex Birmingham taxi.

Car is currently at 111k, I managed to squeeze 2k miles out of it after lexus had it of pretty stress free driving (my daily commute is 2 miles on a 40 road and 35 miles on the motorway then repeat back)

its unusual for these to fail, if you are absolutely sure no flush was carried out and ATF has been on the point I would push for lexus to look into it

That was the original plan as current symptoms are slow first gear acceleration and no gear 5 and 6. But when I told Lexus these symptoms they estimated it'll be over a thousand pounds in diagnostics if not closer to two thousand.

methinks if Lexus are telling you to throw possibly £6k at a replacement gearbox etc then one should analyse when the flush / oil and ATF filter change was done and at what miles and why on earth nobody at Lexus advised you there was a problem !

Seems somewhat strange  .......  have you got more to this tale to impart ?

    Malc

Unfortunately not, bought the car broken (solenoid faults) developed slight judder at low RPM, took it to Lexus for full diagnostics which amounted up to £750 to be told oil is dirty, had oil and filter changed in box and box calibrated, 1 month later box dead. 😂

  7. Well might aswell throw it in here gearbox won't go into 5th or 6th anymore, diagnostics have come up with a P0894 - Transmission Component Slipping code. Gearbox specialist told me it'll be 4k plus vat to recon the box and put a new clutch in (as he thinks it's the clutch that's the issue), and lexus just basically told me box is dead would you like a new one for 6K.

Thanks for your help guys my Lexus ownership has been short but sweet.

  8. Hi guys,

New problem with the car, since yesterday my car is setting off REALLY slowly. The first 0-10 ish mph is very slow and when stopping and then setting off again on a hill it's like the car is crawling it takes a solid 5-6 seconds to get up to 10mph.

Everything else seems fine it kicks down gears fine and once out of that 0-10mph range it accelerates fine.

The car will be going to Lexus on Tuesday (only time they have free) but the problem is I'm working every day till then and my daily commute to work is 75 miles round trip. Anyone know what the issue could be and if its okay to drive like this?

    Thank you in advance.

why did you buy a car with a error code? do you know how much transmission's cost? sorry to be abrupt but you really should not buy a used car with such a malfunction, or any even.

A combination of good price, young stupidity and inexperience lol!

For anyone ever experiencing this issue in the future I took it to lexus they reserviced the gearbox, reflashed ecu and calibrated the gearbox. All solenoid problems fixed as is the juddering car is so smooth you can't feel a single gear change, and quite frankly the service was superb and everything all in with diagnostics was only £770.

  10. Well yet again I am confused, the car has been driving like an absolute dream for the 150 miles I put on it today but just as I was getting home the check engine light came on and the gearbox code P2757 has made a reappearance resulting in the car instantly from driving 10/10 to juddering in every gear under 2k revs. Looking for advice on whether to continue with flushes, change solenoid and slap a new filter in or just say **** it and hand it in to Lexus? I am really losing my mind here.

When I did mine on the LS I did a drain and refill five times so used 10 litres of fluid, I didn’t get all the old stuff out but it certainly looked better afterwards. I did the drains over a week to allow the fluid to circulate and mix. Last year it got 2 more drains over 2 weekends and the colour looks fine.

I guess I'm just going to have to keep flushing. Car feels awful it's juddering in every gear today, hopefully it'll fix the problem tomorrow.

Another flush/drain & refill, otherwise it would be a transmission strip down.

Definitely check the fluid level first, and inspect other things such as engine/transmission mounts. Then do another fluid drain/refill and go from there.

Lovely thank you very much, I got 4L of oil left think I'll buy some more just incase. Is a flush best done straight away after circulating oil, or after driving it a bit?

Not sure it is fluid level, but the correct procedure is this:

Did you use Toyota WS fluid? Sounds like clutch contamination possibly in the torque converter, although that should be in lock-up on the motorway

Yes I'm using genuine oil. How would I tackle clutch contamination?
