  1. Well I test drove the new IS250 the other day (Friday – Monday) and I thought I would share my views on the car incase anyone is interested! (I know loads of people have already done this but I thought the more reviews the better)

Surprisingly when I got in the car I wasn’t overly impressed, I thought the lay out was plain and boring and the passenger side of the dash board was to big and bulky. I thought the layout of the centre console was OK but I really didn’t like the clock at the bottom (looked like it was taken out of the Rover) and the “passenger Airbag is on” light always being illuminated. But that was all over taken by the Speedo layout, now I’m a bloke and simple things please me and I think that it is probably the layout and looking console that has been designed.

So I drove the car out of the dealership and straight into a petrol station as they only left vapors in the tank!. I then had to travel down to Eastborne which was one of the reasons I wanted it for that weekend.

The first thing that really impressed me was the engine, I got in the car with the impression that the engine was obviously bigger but not much of an improvement after reading articles but as soon as you put your foot down the car leaps into motion and shifts a lot quicker then I thought it would, I especially like getting 85mph out in third gear!!

The ride was very comfortable and smooth with hardly any road noise, whilst driving down the motorway I started playing with all the toys and even though it’s a bit of a gimmick I like the Orange and Red settings you can have on the Speedo so when you get to 80mph orange light comes on inside the Speedo and 100mph it changes to red.

The stereo is superb and a big jump forward from the previous one. I didn’t have the multimedia pack so good only knows how good that sounds.

Don’t want to go on to much so I have listed a few likes/dislikes below but from my first impression of the car it has now totally changed and I want one!!!

  2. Guys,

My insurance on the Lexus is up for renewal soon. My current insurance company (Directline) wanted £905!, but have gone with The Halifax for £642.

I'm a 26 year old male, 3 years NCB, no accident history/clean licence.

I'm the same age age and claims discount and I pay £390 with privilage! :P

    You sure mate?

I thought they only took people on who had 4+ years NCB? (just checked their website).....

DOH! yea good point! just realised I've got 5 years nc!! Really should concentrate more! :D

  4. Right, I'm going to be upgrading my this weekend but I heard a rumor that the % free bar at the top of the page doesn't recognise the bigger disk so it says you have run out of disk when you actually have say 80gb free.

    Is this true??

    Thanks

  5. Hi all,

I'm going to be starting my only little company up soon and I need to buy some space from some where. I know there are loads out there but can anyone recommend a good supplier that isn't overly expensive?

    Cheers

    Ray

  6. When you added the laptop to the doamin did it ask you to enter a domain account to add it to the domain.

Can you logon to it useing the local admin account?

Are the IP and Subnet addresses set to the same range as your domain?

Can you ping the laptop from another PC?

And just as a side line, you did Virus check it before you conected it to the domain? Reps have all kings of crap on their laptops!

  7. Just an up date I took the card back and got a Linksys one instead and every thing worked fine :)

I tried useing the netgear software aswell as the XP one. Looking round the web that card seems to have a lot of problems with XP and SP2

    FYI the card was WG311

  8. I not useing a access point as I don't really need one, as the laptop is going to connect to the internet via the PC and backup the laptops files.

I have given both a static IP and same network but still won't ping.

I think that maybe its a problem with the netgear card as thats the one that keeps dropping the connection.

All firewalls are off, I think I'm going to try a few things tonight and if it doesn;t work take the card back and get a Belkin or something to change.

    Thanks

  9. Right then, a question for all you wizz kids! :P

I've got a dell laptop and a PC with a netgear WG311 PC wirless card in. I'm trying to set them up as a ad hoc (peer to peer) conection.

The problem is, is that they see the network but I can't ping either PC and the Netgear keeps connecting a disconnecting every 10 seconds.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be?

    Thanks
