In case anyone is interested, I found myself a few miles from a fuel station today when the mileage remaining in the fuel tank registered zero (well it actually just says "Refuel" when you get to that point and then stays at that). The fuel light had been on for some 30+ miles before this. Yes, I know - living on the edge!!!

I did about another 5 miles, mostly in EV mode to the fuel station after it hit zero miles left as it was mainly A roads, and then filled the tank to the fuel shutoff, and then just a tad more to account for any frothing. With that I put 58.1 litres into the tank.

Given that the tank holds (according the specs) 66 litres, that means there is around 8 litres remaining when the miles left being reported hits zero. I generally achieve at least 10 miles per litre (using the car computer), so in theory that means at least 80 miles of range left (taking it steadily) after the car reports zero miles. Now, I don't know whether the full 66 litres can be used (the take off pipe may leave some still in the tank, I have no idea) but if you ever do any maths and wonder why it doesn't seem to add up the reason is the 8 litres left in the tank once the car reports zero miles remaining.

    Hats off to u sir

    Hello everyone!

I want to upgrade my navigation with wireless Carplay/Android auto. I have a 2018 Is300h with the full size navigation screen, and from my research I found 2 options, "the module" and "the screen".

I cannot decide which one to buy since I am not sure about the advantages and disadvantages for each one.

So far I figured out that the module would be better since it is cheaper and the OEM display won't be changed. The audio quality sucks on both.

If you guys can share your thoughts I will apreciate it. Thanks!

    Hi Everyone,

I have a lexus IS300h 2018 and I am looking forward to replace its GPS antenna. I do not use maps on lexus it ,however, somehow my lexus believes I am in Amsterdam and keeps on telling me that I have crossed border, that is annoying. Lexus is asking 150GBP to replace it however I am looking for a cheaper option. Any recommendations?

Never had issue with it, last year we did 1350 miles around the UK with 3 kids in tow, no bother.

I suspect you don't like the subwoofer parcel shelf?

Sorry, was traveling for work so was not able to respond. So, I went to pickup 1 person from the airport who had 2 big suitcases and 1 small handbag. In the boot, all I was able to accommodate was just one suitcase and small bag, while the second suitcase was in the middle seat at back. Maybe IS300H is small in boot compared to the one you are driving? From a sedan I would expect that it should accommodate at least 4 passenger and at least 2 big bags and 1 small to go into the boot.... Maybe a wrong expectation 😞

Folks i have some exciting news..... there is official roof rack available from Lexus for the IS:

    https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-roof-rack-2013-onwards/
    Part #: PZ41B-C1610-GA

I called Lexus Edinburgh initially to confirm and i was told they sold one back in march for a customer.
when you open front and rear door you will see along the frame there is 2 hole which are used by the pins for the roof rack.  He also said it has thick rubber contacts for both the door frame and the roof and thus should never damage the paint.

I should also point out despite all the noise around this i don't actually have bikes yet 😂
At least now i know i dont have to get rid of the car...Yet.... 🙂

I find Lexus IS300h the most impractical car when it comes to luggage.

    Hello,

    I have been looking for a 3IS IS250 for a while now.

Am I right in thinking all F sport trimmed IS250's come with a Mark Levinson audio system as standard?

Apparently some are branded and not some are not?

    Cheers,

It is always better to ask for it. I was under the same impression, but did not see it in my car. However, was still happy with the other features so went for it

Just found out that a 17 plate luxury saloon this one (Lexus IS300h advanced saloon) that I am picking up on Wednesday doesn’t have carplay, that’s ridiculous , what’s the sat nav like ?

if anything like other manufacturers it’s three years out of date, that includes my current Mercedes.

Same on plate 18 as well :(. I got the Android one, but did not work with my car😞 )

I think you have mistyped the tyre name? The original OEM tyres on the IS 300h 17" wheels are Yokohama BluEarth E51 - 225/45R17 91W. I have replaced like for like on my car over 134k miles - the fronts always last 40k miles and the rears 20k miles. Personally I have found them a good all round tyre. I get them changed at my Lexus dealer as they have always been cheaper there than any of the local tyre places. TBH you will get many different recommendations on here for tyres - everyone seems to have their personal favourites...

Thanks Phil, you are always very helpful 🙂 I might have mistyped the name as I copied it from other group or this group, but that you for correcting it. I was not aware of the "A" Label that you mentioned. I can see lots of cracks in the front tyre's which I believe is because the dealer moved the rear tyre to the front. I will go with the one you recommended then. I can see some recommendations for "F1 Asymmetric 6" but that I will go for while replacing all 4 (Budget constraint for now).

I have goodyear asymmetric 6 and am happy with them. They weren't too expensive and noise and comfort are good. In terms of grip as well its great never had squeals when cornering or braking. Id recommend them but what i cant comment on is how they stack up vs offerings from other brands like continental or Michelin as i haven't tried those on this car.

Thank you so much for the info, will keep in mind when replacing all 4

I know nothing about these specific Yokohamas, but as a general observation on the rare occasions I’ve had a car with them fitted, I replaced them at the earliest opportunity.

They always seemed to generate more noise and less wet weather grip than, say, the equivalent Michelins or Goodyear.

But more importantly, Gaurav, there are two other points to consider.

Firstly, whatever tyre you choose, they should be the same on all four wheels.

Secondly, if you’re just fitting two new tyres, then they should go on the rear axle irrespective of whether the car’s front or rear drive.

As for alternative brands, well that may well depend on what characteristics you personally feel to be most important.  Noise, comfortable ride, wet road grip, wear rate, an aggressive driving style and so on.  Personally I go for either Michelin CrossClimate or the latest Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 - but you might find looking up a few practical tyre reviews will be helpful.

Thank you for the info, good to know that they should be the same. I will get the rear to the front and get new rear Tyres.

  10. Hi, Everyone,

I absolutely love my Lexus IS 300h however due to our family needs we are looking for a bigger alternative option, an SUV.

However, I am not sure what to go for, and is looking for forum members who can share their experience. My budget is not more around 35-38k, so will go with an approved used one, but I am not sure what will be an better alternative, if anyone can please help? I have NX/RX (UX is out as it is small) in mind but also Volvo XC 40/60 that fits budget. Anyone knows what alternate I can watch out for?

    Regards

Mine is for the ML 2014 version. I was able to use all the plugs on the screen, and only had to daisy chain one cable and that was a really big one on the head unit. This is what the ports look like on the back of my head unit.

    20230121_163013.jpg

Oh wow, you were able to remove all cables. I had so many of them and was not even able to take the unit out completely . But back of my unit , non ML, looks completely different then yours. I am sure then it is all to do with the harness as rest the system was working fine and was even getting connected to the phone, but sadly without audio. So, I have 3 issues that I will contact the seller with:

    1. No reverse cam harness

    2. No audio

    3. System is always on.

I'm not sure what you mean by "double rock setting box". Message me on here and send me a photo.

Have you changed the source at all?

My system turns on and off with the car. Not sure what's wrong with yours. Are you sure you've got the correct harness and plugged in the correct places?

Sorry for the  mistype. It was double lock box that was  right behind the screen and was bolted to the screen. I guess the harness I received is incorrect as I was not able to utilise all the ports from the harness and a missing rev camera harness ( asked seller about it. I even compared it the screenshot you posted).

    Hi Matt,

sorry to bother you but I tried installing but failed.

    1. I realised I did not get the reverse camera wire:(

    2. I have double lock feature in the car that was behind the screen but new screen did not have anything to screw for double lock.

    3. The screen size is a bit bigger, it does not fit the space

    4. There was no Audio coming from the system

    5. there was an extra

    Hi @MattDH,

quick one, if you can please help? I checked it again and the screen size fits well. I am still not sure how to handle double rock setting box behind the screen, but will check with the seller.

    1. In my case audio I cannot hear any audio not sure where is the audio connection from?

    2. My system is always on, even when the car is turned off. Is the kill switch meant to turn it off and we have to remember to turn it on-off?

Mine didn't come with any instructions but videos on YouTube helped to some degree. In my case I had more room feeding the cables to the left side behind the headunit.

    1) placed the Microphone behind the screen

    2) placed antenna behind the screen

3 & 4) see photo of where I've put them temporarily. Wanted to get some use out of it first and then tidy up placement in the future.

So far no technical issues other than what I've previously pointed out which were minor.

    Hi Matt,

Quick one on the installation. I received mine today. But wanted to check for the following (If you did not follow exactly the installation instructions. If you did, please let me know so will look at the video)

    1. Placement of Microphone?

    2. Placement of the Antenna

    3. Usb's, did you took them out from glovebox somewhere?

    4. Killswitch: Where did you keep that?

UPDATE: The seller shown me how to fix the door issue (1). Can confirm now when opening the car doors it shows the correct one open on the screen.

They're looking into why the joystick doesn't work as expected in the Android screen but works normally when flicking back to OEM screen

Quick one, why were you charged 45 GBP? Is it 10% plus VAT?

  17. 17 hours ago, MattDH said:

Well the marks on the screen are from my dirty sweaty hands and I didn't clean it properly after taking a photo.

Yeah super easy to setup Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. For me it was just plug in my phone to the USB port (that came with the android unit) and it worked in seconds.

I done it myself with the help of my brother for an extra pair of eyes/hands when needed. It is something that can be done solo but I would recommend just another person helps to make it that much easier. The hardest part was getting the cables through a small gap to the left behind where the headunit and screen sits

Thank you. One last one, any installation videos you followed?

(Ignore the question. Saw it in the message trail)

Got the unit installed. Screen quality is awesome. Only two issues I'm facing so far but they're minor and I'm sure can be fixed with a software update (already contacted the seller about this).

Looks good, sent the same seller my car details as well, to check if this fits my car, I am sure it does, but just checking before the purchase. However, it looks like it leaves smudges behind? I plan to use it with car play, so I am hoping mostly I will use my phone to use apps like Waze, that is what I am majorly after.

Regarding installation, did you do it by yourself or got it installed?
