  1. Hi

I inherited a 2004 Lexus RX300 that is in in need of some TLC.

The air suspension on the passenger rear driver's side of the car  needs replacing. (When the engine is turned off, the automobile slides to one side; when the engine is turned on, the compressor kicks in and the car goes back up.)

I'm looking for a reliable source in the uk where I can buy a used air suspension.

    Any advice pls?

    thank you

I would tend to avoid cheap/aluminium jacks and only use a reputable one in positions Lexus indicate for your car.  Must admit I probably went a bit OTT and bought a "Compac 3T" with low chassis to get under my BMW but this also serves for my RX.

Even though the Compac is a great albeit expensive jack, I always use axle stands or some dense concrete blocks to gain extra height.

thank you for great advice ...

  3. Hi

As you can see from the photographs, I'm experiencing a middle ages crises and I am attempting to cling to my youth by performing some DIY on my rather old Lexus RX300. I have been refurbishing the alloys , and now I'd like to concentrate on the rusted underbody. Can somebody tell where to position the jack and what kind of jack I'll need ect...?

I bought a £44 jack last week from Halfords but had to return it to the store since it couldn't lift the car.( the arm only went up 31cm and the wheel was still touching the ground).

    thanks

  4. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. The two drain holes next to the sunroof mechanism were discovered, but the pint of water I poured immediately drained,(on the road) indicating that there is no blockage.

I even attempted carefully probing the holes with a wire, but all I found was a speck of dirt.

Anyway It might sound a stupid question but why have drain holes in the sunroof? When the roof is closed the rubber seal around the glass should prevent any water entering the car.

  5. Hi

Has anyone experienced water leakage inside the car? It rains a lot in the UK and for no reason that I am aware of, water started dripping from the frame on top of the driver's door (see pictures)onto the driver carpet. It got worse while driving and the water was dripping from the joint circled in red. The whole area of the top frame was dump reaching the back passenger frame, even if a lot less than in the front.

I have tried removing the seal of the outside rack on the roof but couldn't see anything wrong underneath, just bare metal and no rust.

Could water be coming in from the bolts that hold the rack? Any suggestion, experience would be appreciated

    Thank you
