  1. Hi, im a forum member already with an sc430, i restore cars for a hobby and handle most issues with the 430 and have a carsoft scanner

im thinking of buying an rx450h and looking at a couple in the 2015-2017 area with 45- 70k miles

are there any things known as troublesome i should be looking for?

a specific hopefully unwarranted worry is hybrid Battery life, how do they last in the real world? Ive viewed a youtube video of hybrid Battery replacement and looks a straightforward process, should i be worried about the Battery?

    thanks for any info

  2. Got 04 sc430 with 79k mls, i would describe as excellent probably over maintained condition. As a small project im waiting on better weather before i strip and rebuilt complete front suspension. Already bought most of parts for full renewal. More because i can than because it needs it. Just looking for standard everything, not modding.

im looking for a pair of new front shock absorbers. Ive seen them advertised as being common to some of the GS range especially the gs430 gs parts are more commonly available so keener prices

can anyone confirm if the shocks are common to sc and gs?

    thanks

  3. So, as part of my plan to bring the car to suit me, i bought a set of the later model star type alloys, had them refurbished, balanced etc and put a new set of standard sized firestones all round. Problem cured. Front and backs were different brands.

    no more wobbles or wandering

next step 20mm quality spacers front,30 rear to fill arches a bit better

    anyone got set for sale?

  4. sc430, 2004, 79k, well serviced, standard alloys, good tyres

recent addition and only just started using it to be honest

never driven one before so not sure what to expect

Im finding steering vague and sometimes wandery, as an extreme comparison, id say far milder symptoms but like a series 3 landrover

    Is this normal?

checked tyre pressures, tyres look to be tracking normally, no obvious things going on under the car ie track rod ends, rack gaiters

    Any comments welcomed. thanks

  5. Hi

just bought a nice sc430 march 2004 low miles

started working through car to bring it up to scratch, now looking at sat nav system

What are my options? disk is obviously well out of date (original?) whats latest version disk available?

Replace unit? are there more modern units from other Lexus products that would fit/integrate well or what aftermarket products have been done? got good experience of the pioneer 230DAB into Mercs

Would like Iphone integration and or carplay, hands free? not android

Ive experience of similar replacements on CL,SL and CLK mercs but its my first lexus so can guess some of issues involved but previous experience of lexus counts far more

What have others done / recommend?

Ill be doing the work myself

    thanks

If you have a laptop running Windows (XP, 7 or 10) then your best bet is to buy one of these miniVCI cables from eBay

It comes with a pirated copy of Techstream, which is the very same diagnostic software used by Lexus techs in the dealer workshops. Of course, we can't be seen to condone piracy (that's a matter for your own conscience) so the correct way would be to download an official free copy from https://www.lexus-tech.eu/DiagnosticTools/Setup and then pay for a block of time to use it, currently €5/day, €10/week and so on.

Whichever way you go, you'll need that miniVCI cable anyway.

Thanks, looks the way to go

    ive started down this route

  7. Had a number of mercedes over the years and just bought my first lexus ls430 03.  Ive used iCarsoft V2 tool for my mercedes diagnostics. What do others use for lexus? Can see iCarsoft have a product, assume it will do all my merc version does. Or what else is about. Not looking for basic obd reader, as much functionality as possible without prices. Describe myself as a fairly competent amateur mechanic used to using electronic readers

    thanks
