  1. Don't suppose you know how much they are?

Does anyone have one they would like to sell?

Iwas looking on eBay for a while and they were being sold by the same 2 ebayers between £45-£55 plus postage of about £6. :crybaby:

I went to my lexus dealer and got a brand new one for £41 inclusive!!!!!!!! :hehe:

My advice, GO TO THE DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  2. Think it's a question of trust to, do you believe what they are telling you. In some postings on this board ( and others ) there is evidence in some cases to the contrary.

I believe the only reason the dealer can refuse to release the car is if you have not paid for  the work that has been agreed.

    Agree with you completly steve.

As long as I sign for the vehicle they are no longer responsible, I AM!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I think to be fair they handled the situation realistically, take another example, if your brake pads were on min and they phoned you up to explain that work was required and they were going to retain the car if you didn't have the pads changed would you have treated the call in the same way?  Remember, a big part of the service are the visual checks carried out. Perhaps they just weren't very diplomatic about the problem.

On the other hand, I don't think they can hold your car, surely if you signed an agreement to hand over the car that would have been sufficent?

I'm surpised by this - was it Lee who looked after you? I've taken my car there for 3 out of the 4 services I've needed and have never ever had a problem.

    Good luck anyway!

Yes it was Lee who dealt with it in the end!!!

  4. Hi guys,

I sent my IS200 SE to Lexus Stockport (Smith Knight Fay Group) for a 10,000 mile service on Friday. They picked the car up and said they would service it and return to my home address for a princely sum of £120 inc.

I asked the service dept to get authourisation from me before any other work is carried out.

They picked the car up at 10am and at 12pm I received the first phone call informing me that my lower front balljoints were in very bad shape and in desperate need of replacing. The cost involved was a whopping £324 plus VAT!!!!!

I asked them to give me a full diagnostic report and a written estimate and I would book in at a later date to have these repairs carried out (in reality I intended to do the job myself at a negligent cost :winky:) They said they would complete the service and return the car with the estimate and report.

An hour later I received another call, this time informing that my car could not be released to me bcus it was extremly dangerous and not roadworthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tsktsk:

They went onto inform me that the balljoints were "literally hanging off" and if I had an accident after they released the car to me they would be liable for prosecution, irrespective of the fact that I had signed for the release of a defective unroadworthy vehicle.

I explained to them that his was the bigest ***** of sh*t I have ever heard!!!!!!!

I also went on to tell him that it appeared that they were twisting my arm so I would authourise costly (possibly uneeded) repairs.

They said that they would not allow me to drive the vehicle away, I would have to arrange a low loader recovery truck!!!!!!! My baby is being kidnapped!!!!!!! :crybaby:

I was livid and I completly lost it with them over the phone and informed them that if my vehicle was not released within half an hour I would be there with a police officer and my solicitor!!!! He said he would let his manager know and get back to me asap.

Ten minutes later he called back and explained the manager has decided as a "gesture of good will" he will release the vehicle but only on a low loader and they would bare the cost. :duh:

The vehicle was delivered to my home address on a truck. I was still overcharged by £7 (£127-00 instead of the quoted £120!!)

Incidently this is the first time I have EVER seen a Lexus on the back of recovery truck (unless you know better?)

I got on the phone to the best lexus parts manager in the UK, Gareth from Lexus Manchester who promptly informed me that the two ball joint would cost me under £100 inc. I picked them this morning and began to remove the one which were "literally hanging off"

Guess what????............................................. Yep you guessed right.............................. Apart from a small amount of play there was nothing wrong with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tsktsk:

I have still replaced them as a "gesture of good will" to my baby lexus for a third of the price quoted by the robbing ***********s at lexus stockport.

Apart from letting everyone on LOC know does anyone think I should take this any further?????

Has anyone alse had the same problem with this a***hole dealer?????

  5. Reverse of removal !!

    Ok then......removal instructions ;) :P

    Hi Anees,

Remove centre console, seats, carpets, steering wheel, complete dash, rear parcel shelf, boot carpet & lining.

Remove old wiring loom and replace with new loom. Fit CD ECU unit in the floor of the boot to the right hand side.

    Rebuild the car!!

    Good luck!!!

It took me 2 very very cold days!!!!!!!!!

But it was worth it for my baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. RH side fog on e-bay dont know whether its the one you need but worth a look

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7969414999&rd=1

Thats the one, now just see what happens with it, Was going to check eBay later! so saved me a job now cheers Nick

I got a pair of brand new one from eBay for £75 and they keep being listed, my advice just be patient and keep looking.

I have found a way to stop this corrosion happening again.

Look at the plastic wheel arch guard directly behind the fog light and you will see several veritical slits. This is where the water and dirt splashes off your tyres and forces it through these slits and onto the back of your fog light housing, thus creating corrosion. Pull the plastic forward and get some black duct tape and tape the slits up from the inside, this will stop any further water or dirt being forced into the back of your fog light housing.

    Good luck.

  7. I bought mine from Prolex and fitted them myself. :)

Thanx for all the advice guys, can anyone tell me how much front discs would be at the dealers?

    Are prolex cheaper?

I can't remember the dealer price. Prolex were cheaper than the dealer. Also the prolex ones I've bought are Mintex pads and discs and not OEM Lexus ones.

Got the mintex discs and pads from Mr Prolex and the timing belt from the dealer AND the caliper stickers from scottaltezza.

Guess whoes gonna have a busy Saturday, hope its nice and sunny and not ****** it down.

    Thanx for everything guys. :P

  8. Hi there,

Can anyone help me, I need to replace the front discs on my is200 but dont know where to get them from and which ones i sould go for.

I also need a set of spark plug, front pads and a timing belt.

Is it time to get ripped off at the dealer??????

    Please help guys.

    Thanx.

  9. Hi folks.

    Just a wee quick question.

What would any of you out there recommend?? The alloys on my 2000 W IS are absolutely knackered and I am thinking of doing one of 2 things. The first one is to get the alloys on the car refurbished form a third party company. No ideas where as yet but if anyone out there knows of a good place in or around the Glasgow area, I am all ears!!! The second one is to get a set of refurbished ones from Lexus. I have been quoted £85.00 each for them from Lexus Glasgow. This excludes VAT,balancing and new valves.

    What does eveyone think???

    Hi Mark

I had the same dilema, do you spend nearly £300 on a refurb (in the process you loose the chrome finish on your wheels) or do you buy brand new non genuine alloys?

I waited and found a set of 4 brand new wheels and brand new tyres on eBay which I quickly snapped up for £500, and guess what I did with my old wheels and tyres? I put them back on eBay and sold them for £333!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So all the brand new wheels and tyres ended up costing me was £167!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out eBay there are a few sets on right now. :mat:

    Good luck mate. :winky:

  10. I think that a creditor has 6 years in which to start proceedings to recover a debt.

    Try the CAB...

    Seems a scam to me

Coming from a person who is studying LLB Hons in Law, Mr Prolex is absolutely right.

Any creditor has a legal period of 6 years to make you appear physically in court to answer any debt claims. If they do not manage to do this within the 6 year period then the forfeit their right to the debt LEGALLY!!!!

Tell them to F :tsktsk: off!!!!!

  11. Hello can anybody help me

The model is is200 se 1999 model.

Did you know that lexus have extended the warranty on audio units to 5 years??

Could be covered under warrany mate.

    thanks

  12. I have recently found the below listed website for what looks like quite good value for money front & rear magic mirror parking sensor kit.

Please check out the product for yourselves and I would value your opinions before I purchase a set for my IS200 Navigator.

Do you think the product is good enough to be put on a lexus or will I be commiting a sin??????????

Is the product good quality and value for money???

Has anyone already bought and fitted one????

Any feedback would be very highly appreciated.

  13. i know this might seem simple but have you tied driving around with the sunroof bind pulled back to see if that helps

or pulled forward if is pulled back.

or try it with the sunroof open to check it out also

if all else fails you can sell her on ebay  ( the wife that is )  :winky:

I have tried driving with the sunroof open and it makes no difference. When

i close the sunroof bind the noise is stil there but it is slightly more muffled.

I think it may be coming from the black underframe of the sunroof................ let me have a try at fixing it............ I WILL BE BACK.

By the way does anybody wanna buy my wife before I put her on eBay??? :D
