Was your Siri text issue where Siri didn’t read back before sending so you weren’t sure what went ?  I had that and the issue was an Apple problem - I updated iOS to a beta and it sorted it. Did your phone have an update ?  I’m asking in case the issue repeats

I haven’t performed any updates (iOS 17.4.1 on Iphone 14 Pro) and the Siri text read back has been working for the last couple of weeks. It was previously not working on 17.4.1 and I haven’t been able to update the car either as it is no longer offering the 2050 update to me.

I am assuming that the issue was a server side one at either apple or Lexus and they’ve updated something which has corrected it as it has been flawless now it is working

  2. I have found that if the engine cuts in from EV mode, for the initial cycle it is very noisy with a ticking, knocking noise.  If I start it in HV straight away generally it is quiet from the start

the other day I happened to start it with the accelerator depressed and the noise was there.

i find that the engine will cut in on EV mode even with some miles of range left when the temperature is below 15 deg and often it is as I am accelerating (even gently) and so it could be that if the engine cold starts with the throttle open something else is happening

to me it sounds like something ancillary to the engine (AC etc) or something is loose when cold, as once the EV goes back on any subsequent engine running is ok

i will mention it to the garage when I’m in next time but I won’t hold much hope

  3. I never got around to performing the update, mainly as I couldn’t face taking the time sorting out the issues with things being busy at home.

The car has now stopped offering the update, so I am not sure if Lexus have pulled it to resolve issues or the car has given up.

Is anyone else still being prompted to update?

  4. I’ve not had any issues in my NX but I did have both heat shields come away on my CT after about 5-6 years. I ended up Jerry rigging them back on with washers etc. they seemed very flimsy and easily disintegrated

I’m sure the dealer can fit replacements but I remember my quote being quite expensive as they had to remove the exhaust to fit so I didn’t bother

  5. I have this issue and it only started following an update to iOS 17. It seems to mainly be Lexus cars and not all are affected so apple isn’t going to rush to fix it. I am assuming Lexus/toyota have coded something different in their implementation of CarPlay which has been broken in the update

i think we’re going to have both parties pointing at each other until some future random update resolves it. The dealers will not be able to do anything other than report to the manufacturer

New here. I've been struggling for months now with this same issue. Lexus nor Apple are giving me any answers. Is yours still fixed with the software you have. I'm on iOS 17.4. It's driving me nuts.

I haven’t upgraded to 17.4 yet but nothing fixed. I believe someone running their phone on a beta version has said that it works ok on that so I think it is an apple problem and might come in some future update.
It only started happening to me when I update to iOS 17 so I now don’t use Siri unless absolutely necessary and I end up sending messages blind as it doesn’t read them out

  7. My 450+ insurance went from £370 to £790 this year. Full no claims and no incidents. When I checked on comparison sites the cheapest was over £900 so took the renewal

Not great but if this trend keeps up it might be time to start hunting around for a mid 90’s BMW with no tech on it as I believe it is the lead time and cost of parts are a significant factor to the increase

Lexus is not a “sporty car”, so I am not sure why one would go for a “sport”.

which is why I went for a Takumi.

I only went for the sport because the colour I wanted was the fsport exclusive.

having tried the extra takumi as a courtesy car I would probably go for that myself next time as the seats are far comfier than in the sport

  9. Had my handles changed yesterday, excellent service as always from the team at Leicester.

Discussed the cause and changes to rectify the problem so looking forward to easy entry to the car for the rest of the winter

I’d definitely recommend getting them changed as soon as you get an inkling of an issue

  10. I have always taken the satnav routes with a pinch of salt. Every single nav system that I have owned in cars for the last 20 years has tried to take me down a cut-through footpath (we call them jittys in Leicester but might be one of those dialects like cob/batch/roll). It has never been a road but the mapping source that all navigation systems seem to use obviously think it is accessible.

what I have noticed however is that often when starting a journey the location is 2-3 meters out so the route gets a bit confused to start with. After a few minutes it does sort itself out but we often have a laugh with the kids when the nav is showing the car going through houses.

it does happen mid journey as well sometimes, especially when there is a parallel service road close to the road I’m on, and the navigation thinks I’ve turned into the service road even though I haven’t. Having watched it when I haven’t been driving it’s seems the navigation tries to be predictive with where you’re going, I assume using compass and speed/steering etc so it doesn’t need to query the GPS so often and so seems to think you’re going down a different road, and then a minute or two later it corrects itself.

i don’t think systems are charged for GPS use other than the initial licence so it might be a processing/responsiveness thing

for info I have the 14” nav system

Anyone who has had it done, did they replace all handles - that's what I was expecting and want to be able to challenge them.

When I was discussing it with them about times etc, the service desk said it is about an hour for each front door handle and just under and hour for the rear ones so they want the car for 4 hours which I take as they will be replacing all four handles

did you say all handles were affected or just the front ones? I know I had issues with all of the handles a couple of weeks ago

  12. after having no issues last year I’ve finally been caught by the frozen handle problem. As I’m popping to the dealer today to discuss the fuel filler flap not opening again I’ll add this to the list.  Car has been in the dealership almost as often as a Range Rover now!

not impressed with this iteration of car but looking at competitors out there at least Lexus seem to be doing something about things, once you convince the dealership of the problem

  13. My ranges are showing 45/50 on a full charge but I am currently showing 1.8m/kWh so range should be showing closer to 25 miles

I do short infrequent trips so car is spending a lot of energy heating up the cabin so I don’t expect best efficiency but this is certainly worse than last year

i just wish the predicted miles was more honest as I would need to be doing 3.2m/kWh to get the 45m predicted range and that isn’t going to happen

I'm still having to delete and reinstall every time I charge the battery.😨😩

Have you called the helpline and raised a ticket? I had been having similar problems and they managed to sort it out in the back end

I am guessing you have an early production car like mine and there seems to have been a time when they sent corrupt data and the backend seems to have gone wrong and they need to clear it out somehow (that’s how I read their responses to me anyway)

  15. The demist mode will make the engine start

I have noticed however that my 450h+ will start the engine even in EV mode when the temp is low (<15) and there is only 1-4 miles left on EV range.  Dash still says EV mode but the EV car symbol goes out and the engine is running

It’s almost as though it tries to get the engine ready for when it runs out. It’s only done it since the software update last winter and didn’t occur at all during the summer when it was warm
