A neighbour of mine tells the story of how he was recently pulled over and breathalysed (with a negative result) by police who didn't believe he had been swerving in order to avoid potholes and the occasional loose kerbstone on a road near where we live.   Driving back along the same stretch an hour later, and suppressing his instinct to honk and wave in recognition, he saw, to his joy and delight, the same two policemen replacing what looked like a burst tyre on their car.

They must have been on their way to Greggs for lunch.

  2. This is  a strange one. I had the tyre, valve and seal checked over at my local tyre store. Nothing found.

Yesterday morning, -3c,  tpms comes on. Pressure dropped to 0.5 bar.

I inflated the tyre to 2.2 bar.

This morning, -5c.....tyre still 2.2...no air lost.

I`ve been running around all morning, no pressure drop.

I recently purchased a wireless inflator from AliExpress. No cables. Xiaomi is the manufacturer.Slightly bigger and fatter than a mobile phone. It inflates my "flat" in around 8 minutes and still retains 2/3 of the Battery power. Recharges  by USB C.

    Impressive gadget.

  3. I thought run-flats couldn't be repaired?

I have a slow puncture dropping to 1.9 from 2.3 in a week.

Funny thing though. I parked my car whilst on holiday for 2 weeks and returned to find the tyre still indicating 2.3 .

The issue of the flat seems to have coincided with a drop in air temperature. I know cold air contracts.

I have discovered the the cavity at the back of the left hand bonnet hinge on my UX collects hides bugs. Ive previously found a huge snail stuck on the bulk head. Small webs etc small critters etc. While the opposite side is relatively clear. Its not the easiest place to clean em out either.

    Contact Chris Packham....

Personally speaking, I preferred the black/unpainted arch trims over the painted ones but indeed, each to their own. I think the painted ones detract a little from the design and makes it look a little more 'slab sided' in my view.

The only worry I had when I had my UX was the black plastic fading but I have to say after three and a half years of ownership, they still looked pretty much as good as new. Obviously how they'll look after a decade has yet to be seen but they do appear do be of high quality plastic that, so far at least, seems good at resistance to fading.

Keep this in mind for a decade from now.....

Do you know roughly how far you get on one tank?

My journey to Southampton was 437 miles.

When I left home with a full tank I realised that it was going to be tight reaching Southampton . My fuel tank mileage indicator showed , perhaps 50 miles to spare. i.e. a full tank would take me 487 miles.

I had to top up on both journeys  to put my mind at rest that I wouldn't`t get caught out.

I thought range anxiety only applied to all electric vehicle owners...lol
