2009 LS600hL RSR - considering selling
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubHi Malc, yes apparently so. I called Lexus when i was looking to buy the car to ask about its maintenance history and they confirmed it had visited them in 2021 for front ball joints, even though i dont have an invoice in its history for that. Corresponds to the mot history though and its been up on the ramp at my local garage recently who confirmed drop links, ball joints etc all look mint.

2009 LS600hL RSR - considering selling
Hello all Last October I bought myself a black 2009 LS600hL RSR with the cream leather - with the intention of wafting around in a luxury uber saloon for 6-12 months, to scratch that itch. I now have a baby on the way which is focussing the mind on how practical the car will really be considering the smaller boot size and large rear doors being awkward in carparks with the baby seat. I've enjoyed my time with it greatly which included a weekend roadtrip to Germany - but as time goes on find that nagging voice on my shoulder getting louder saying its time to move on to experience something else equally as interesting. May be time to try a fast estate car... The car is low mileage (now at 82k) and in good condition - especially the interior which is almost like new even with some of the factory plastic wrap still found on door sills and the leather tag still on the front passenger seat. Full Lexus service history from new which is 15 services, last one in my ownership just a month ago from FRF Lexus Cardiff, who gave it a full bill of health and passed hybrid health check. 2 previous owners to me with the first owner keeping it for 11 years. Exterior does have some minor age related light scratches here and there but nothing you would notice without really looking for it. Wheels show minimal kerb marks. Everything electrical inside works and no warning lights. MOT runs out in October but I would be happy to put a new one on it ready for sale. It has a very clean MOT history with only 4 advisories in its life - 3 of which encountered in 2016 for tyres worn close to limit / most recent one 2021 for ball joint dust cover leaking (Lexus confirmed ball joints were replaced in that year). It has a private reg number on it which would stay with the car. There's not much to go on looking online as so few of these cars in this spec come up for sale, but I'm thinking £ 14k would be a reasonable asking price. Does that seem about right? Am I a fool for even thinking of selling it?! Thanks

Rear lower than the front
Craig M replied to Newbie777's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubJust come across this thread. Had my LS600hL 5 months now and this exact ‘issue’ has been worrying me too. My rear end does appear to be lower down than the front - the gap between top of tyre and wheel arch on the front is larger than the gap between top of tyre and wheel arch on the rear. But i know my air suspension and self levelling and height high functions are working ok, and the rear doesnt sink low after turning the car off. Its good to hear that i wasnt the only one worrying and even better to find this thread which confirms its perfectly normal and there is no ‘issue’! now i just need to fix my drivers door wind noise and the find out what the knocking coming from my front left suspension is 😣

Drivers door wind noise
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubHi Steve, yes i came accross this solution on a different forum, and whilst tapping/bumping the switch slightly to bring the window down a touch does improve the noise level, it is still there. I do wonder if i have a separate issue with the triangle too? Also the window seal on the back upward edge (b pillar) of the window does pinch in by a few inches when you put the window up and that does make the wind noise worse, until you correct the rubber.

LS600h front knocking and bouncy shock.
Craig M replied to katana92_uk's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubKatana, did you ever find out what the cause of your knocking was? I think i have a similar issue as you described on the front left/passenger side of my 600hL, and my garage say the drop links and ball joints etc are fine.

Drivers door wind noise
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubThanks Tulpen, i have just come across this very thread! I’ll check those trim pieces but im pretty sure the noise is coming from the top of the window rather than the front corner. Perhaps the air is getting in there and travelling up.

Drivers door wind noise
Hello all, had my LS600hL 4 months now and noticing that at higher speeds (40/50mph above) i have a wind noise coming from somewhere near top of drivers door - also sometimes when vehicles go past its almost like you can hear them slightly more than you should be able to with double glazing. All the seals look perfect and the window seems to be sitting snuggly when fully closed, so stumped. Anyone else had this issue? i wound the window down this evening to look closer at the edge of the window and there are no knicks in the glass. Also checked along the top ledge where the window sits when fully closed and the one thing i did notice is the area inside where the little bit that protrudes out from the trim has little holes within it - but when comparing to the passenger side in same area that section has the indentations in same place but the holes are filled in. What is this little area and could that be my problem? many thanks!

Firestick via video port in rear - LS600hL
Hello all, thinking of ways i can bring my new to me LS600hL a little more up to date for my passengers in the rear rather than having to rely on DVD entertainment alone. My thoughts currently are whether i could get a firestick to play netflix, youtube etc on the rear tv by using an hdmi to video adapter lead to plug into the rear video port (the three coloured holes). In my head i have visions of plugging it in, connecting via hotspot to my phone and then choosing the video option on the tv to bring up the firestick apps. Does anyone know if this would work or have any suggestions of what you have done in your cars? As for the front, i have looked into the GROM VLine unit from america to get apple carplay on the central screen, but its expensive and reviews are mixed, and the technology inside it is ancient in itself. I think i may just buy a wireless airvent mounted charger that plugs into the 12v cigarette lighter so i can charge my iphone and use apple maps on the phone itself, and then get a second cable lightning to 3.5m AUX to plug in so that i can listen to my music through the cars speakers and get the benefit of the Mark Levinson quality. And of course the phone is connected to the car via bluetooth for calks already. Has anyone else done this or got any recommendations of alternative ways to get benefit of modern functions?

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubAh yes i’ve spotted that ebay listing too. Lexus dealer confirmed last week they are no longer available through them, so will take another look at that ebay item. My only worry is the padding will have perished so it may be worth me looking at non branded new IR headphones

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubYes, took it into main Lexus dealer last thursday for an inspection and hybrid health check, and pleased to say they gave it a full bill of health without picking up a single thing wrong with it, and giving a hybrid pass certificate. The chap said the technician commented on how clean the car was and that i’ve found myself a good one. So a big relief and time to enjoy it now!

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubThank you for the recommendation. I came across Osaka this past few weeks when looking into buying the car, trying to find a specialist local to me. I may give them a call on Monday to ask them to give the car an inspection

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubHello all, pleased to say i bought the car! Picked it up yesterday and drove it 200 miles home. Exquisite drive! 34mpg average wasnt shabby either couple of newbie questions - i notice the indicator stalk doesnt seem to have the function of a 3 x flash you have to turn stalk all way on for a continuous flash. But i noticed on doug demuros youtube video on his review of this car that in the screen menu there was an option to select 3/5/7 flashes etc. was that a US only spec thing? Also need to source some rear headphones as the car is missing them. Can you still buy them from Lexus?

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club@scythe, update - some good news and some bad. Good news is i rang Lexus Cambridge who had no record of the car but calling Lexus Cardiff came up trumps as they have record of the car being serviced in their network, last one earlier this year, and the guy said hybrid battery is checked with every service and no record of issues. Also said they did ball joints on the front of the car in 2021. Bad news (potentially) is someone has replied to my post on the UK lexus LS facebook group saying if its the car for sale near Royston don’t waste my time 😬. But not elaborating any further. I do believe it is that car, with Royston not being too far from this dealer.

LS600hl RSR
Thanks - yes its a non lexus dealer, Scythe has found the exact car with the link in his response. Would a used car warranty cover the suspension arms (id expect not considering moving parts) and hybrid batteries?

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Craig M replied to Craig M's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h ClubThanks both! @scythe yes that is indeed the car. when i rang the selling dealer earlier all he could tell me was it has 14 lexus stamps and theres some invoices but he couldnt see anything relating to hybrid battery or suspension work. My biggest fear (im an overthinker) is buying a car and it then needing thousands spent on it due to perished bushes/arms or unhealthy batteries. Worth a call back to ask what lexus dealer did the recent servicing to then contact them to question its condition - reckon they’d talk to me even though its not my car? cheers

LS600hl RSR due diligence
Hello all, Im seriously considering pressing the button on buying a 2009 LS609hl with the RSR option and doing my due diligence before buying. Was just wondering if the car is already known in the forum from its previous owner? The reg is A17 DPX and its for sale with a used car dealer near Cambridge. MOT history looks clean and service history is all lexus main dealer with last service earlier this year, but the MOT ran out earlier this week so the cynic in me is thinking the car was moved on by its last owner as the lexus service flagged up pending large bills. Otherwise the car looks really clean and i may need to do the 3.5 hour trip to go see it in the flesh - exciting! many thanks
