To quote from this item, "If your car is bumped and the G Force sensor registers movement, your Nextbase Dash Cam will automatically switch on, record for 30 seconds, and then shut down again."
Thanks for sharing. So it is the simple mode which is not that useful as you will miss the hit and it records the incident after it happens. The dash cams now they have buffered mode in addition to simple mode and time lapse mode. With buffered mode as soon as it detects a move near your car it starts recording but will only save 30 seconds before and after the incidents to the sd card and if no incident happens it won’t save anything.

Thanks Andy, that helps a great deal.
Re the battery life, I doubt that my Thinkware would last for 2 weeks if at an airport car park since the parking mode will turn off automatically once the camera detects that the starting battery has reduced to a certain voltage, which doesn’t take too many days on my RX with the starter battery being so small.
Re how it works in parking mode, the Thinkware is constantly scanning for movement and when it detects movement it will record a short clip. In the event of an incident it will add 30 seconds of the clip before the incident (can be user adjusted) and 60 seconds afterwards to capture the whole incident before, after and during. You can usually test this by walking around the car, opening a door and slamming the door shut for it to record the “incident”
Once again, thanks for your input and photos, it is very much appreciated.
It seems the Nextbase model Lexus which dealers are using has only simple parking mode and not buffered parking mode. In simple mode the camera wakes up when something happens and records. So you will miss the incidents. In buffered mode, the cam will record 30 seconds before and after the incidents.

Sounds like a dealer specific issue. My 350H nextbase front and back dashcam was installed by Lexus Dealer in Nov 2022 and it has Intelligent parking mode, which you activate on your nextbase app. I guess 2020 may be current in 2022 but not in vogue in 2024.
What’s the model of your dashcam pls? Is it 380GW?

Wise decision!
Your car is just as likely to be attacked or damaged when it’s parked - if not more so!
As a general rule, I think this is the kind of equipment best installed by a busy auto electrician - who may be doing it on a regular basis - than a dealer’s mechanic who does it occasionally.
And if this Dealer keeps offering outdated cameras, then they won’t be selling many of them.
You are right as my problem is when I go to supermarket car parks. I had 2 incidents with my previous car and both have been when the car was parked. Some idiots are not bothered about other people’s cars. Driving an old car and are not bothered if they touch your car when parking next to you or exiting the space next to you.

I cancelled the appointment with Lexus to have their dash cam as they told me it doesn’t have parking mode. They literally selling dash cam models 2020 in 2024. Found an independent in car technology ltd specialised in cams and things like that to install Nextbase new model that has intelligent parking mode.

I've just had Nextbase front and rear cameras fitted to my RX450h+ by Lexus.
How much did it cost? Thanks

Lexus fitted front and rear cameras to my NX450+ and I never had a problem with DAB or indeed anything else.
Thanks, great to know.

Thanks for the reply guys. Not sure what the issue is. I have asked 2 Lexus dealers and both told me they will only install front and not rear. Could be NX thing but not sure what the problem is. They are going to charge £275 for front cam.

I contacted Lexus and made the appointment for dashcam but they told me only front cam can be installed in NX 350h and they won’t install rear one as it interferes with Dab!!? Any suggestions pls? Should I cancel the appointment and try somewhere else than Lexus?

You do not have to go to the dealer you bought the car from. You can get it done at any Lexus dealer / service . So If there is a dealer nearer to you just contact them, they can then get the key and clone it for you. That’s what I did & saved a 100 mile round trip
Thanks, that’s great. 👍🏻

No it has to be cloned at the dealers
Thanks, for jeees sake I have to drive another 50 miles to dealer? Maybe I can ask them to post it to me so I can do it at a dealer near me and not where I bought the car.

Good news, folks. I've finally received my letter confirming my second key is now ready to be programmed. So - my own wait for the second key is just short of five and a half months (collected the car 1st September 2023). There's no news on the locking wheel bolts.
I'm just trying to arrange to get the car to them and back to me (I don't really want to return to the dealer to be honest after my experiences), so hopefully I should have my spare key shortly...
can’t they post the key to you?

Picked up my NX350h today and the dealer sorted out all the Link+ app and and said all is good. When I check the app now I can see the Mileage, Fuel, Range, and I have some Remote Control options but it shows a "Status unknown" at the top for the vehicle status. Also the Hybrid Coaching says "There is no data at this time. Your score and trips will be available after your first trip.". When I click on "Status unknown" it opens a tab "Vehicle Status" but only shows an "An error occurred. Please try again later".
Wondering if anyone has experienced the same.Mine is exactly like yours after 5 days. Lexus cars are nice but their App is rubbish. It took them forever to get rid of that touch pad and finally came up with touchscreen. Wonder how many years it take to sort out their app!!!

I just upsized UX to NX. Collected the car last week and after 1 week, I should say it is a different world. The surrounding sound system is amazing, and how quiet the cabin is in comparison with UX. The car is driving in EV mode more than half of the time in town and over all I am getting 45MPG and on motorway it gave me 49MPG. The 14” screen is very quick and responsive and auto parking feature is fantastic. The tank is taking 65 litres which is giving 650miles. With UX I was going to petrol station more often as the tank was only 40 litres. No wonder WhatCar? rated UX 2 stars.
In the show room I also saw 2 LBX which looked nicer than online pictures. Seems well built, inside looks very good and top quality. I think if anyone wants to buy UX consider buying LBX instead.- 2

I was one year, January 23 to Jan 24 to get key and locking wheel nuts. RX owner.
Thanks guys, I think I am only missing the key. Dealer didn’t say anything about locking wheel that they are missing.

Anyone knows how long after the delivery we will receive the second key? Collected the car a few days ago with 1 key. Thanks

I have just discovered this forum. It’s all very quiet for October and hopefully that’s a good sign 🙂 I am just at the beginning of journey and ordered NX350h Takumi, sonic white with black & rich cream interior 2 days ago (UK Lexus). Delivery time I am given is April 2024 🤞 we shall see if and when it happens.
A quick update to say that the car arrived and collected. It’s lovely and enjoyable to drive. Much more fun than previous one (UX) and I should say technology/gadgets improved a lot since 2020 when I bought UX.

"Obsessed"...where is this said or implied?
My NX was a thirsty beast, especially given that it's a hybrid....therefore definitely any sort of "enjoyment", was limited to driving really careful to conserve fuel. If I didn't want to conserve fuel, I wouldn't buy a hybrid car, because surely that, to me, is one of the main reasons to buy a hybrid car?
By obsessed I meant worrying too much about fuel consumption. But you have a point as well saying the reason to buy a hybrid is to save on fuel. But nowadays the non-hybrid cars have 60+mpg.

I’m currently on my third NX and I agree with that comment, quite poor fuel consumption really..
obsessed with fuel consumption kind of spoils the enjoyment. Anything above 35 or 40 is fine. I am annoyed with UX boot and lack of power so changing it with a new NX, delivering next month.

The NX350h is much better than the previous model. We typically got 35mpg average out of the NX300h but get about 44mpg average out of the NX350h on the same usage pattern.
Thanks for the info, good to know 👍🏻 I am also finding UX very noisy when driving on motorway and almost speakers don’t exist. Very poor speakers on UX Takumi. But when I test drived NX350h I was impressed with the sound system.

Embarrassing 🙂 Quite obviously you bought the wrong car...maybe you'll now be embarrassed at the petrol station!
Why embarrassing at petrol station? lol the fuel consumption is not that much different with UX but NX tank is bigger so I shouldn’t need to go very often. With UX it only can take 40 litres and I had to fill it up frequently.

I am going from UX Takumi to NX 350H takumi. UX is a lovely car to drive but the boot is small even for 2 of us. So LBX is not considered. Rear of UX is embarrassing if you have a guest and 2 sitting front and 1 in the back as there is not much space at all. Looking forward to NX delivery early next year.

NX downsizing to LBX

Right. I just simply compared it with UX model 2020. The main reason I upgraded to NX was that I wanted something bigger and more spacious specially the boot and rear seats.
