  1. Hello All,

Firstly sorry for asking questions that will have been asked a million times all ready but please stick with me.

Firstly I am  def. in the market to buy a second hand IS200. Taking into account the alloys and other bit I would prefer a SE or sport, is there much difference between the two and which would people recommend.

Having 10-11K to spend, I have already seen 01/11/2000, sport with 37000 for 10,995 here in belfast where my folks live, or a 2000/X SE with 33,500 for the same price in  lexus glasgow where I stay. These seem good prices according to parkers. are they, I know there is a new version due in 05 will this be much different, or a subtle tweek.

What should I be looking for when it comes to buying, how have you owners found having these cars, they have a tremendous rep. for relability, is this justified. Having a fiat at the minute I really what something classy and above all else reliable and rattle free.

Are the running cost bearable, I believe mpg isn't great, that isn't too much of a problem as I dont do a great number of miles, but what about servicing and parts.

Anyway sorry for the essay and thanks for your time.

    Steve

  4. hi guys, my mate who had is lexus and evo 6 keyed is now selling his evo and wants to mod his lexus like mad and wants mental bhp for road and track use, can anyone give me a list of all the mods and rough price's that he can do to get this?

He will be a member very soon as i told him last night about you guys and how helpful you all are!!!

    cheers

    stu :D :D :D :D :D

He is running 12 sec for the 1/4 of a mile so he wants the same and/or better, he also drive, his evo hard!!!!!

  5. Yes, the TTE springs are covered under warrenty, also covered by the TTE warrenty

BUT, only if fitted by the dealer

i have been told by lexus that my warrenty will not be void as long as i take it to a mod garage!

oh yeah - have heard that one before! so what would they class as a mod garage then? u should ask them to name a few or ask them about the one ur planning on taking the car to and get it in writing that they approve of that garage to fit ur springs and that it wont affect your warranty - think they may well have a different story when asked to do that

cheers for the advice mate i will do that and see what they say, thanks again!

  6. :tomato:

    Will Lexus ever learn !!

Had my Lexus IS200 for about 3 months now, after cleaning the alloys I noticed that they had all started to corrode. :offtopic:

However, I took the car back to the local dealer this morning and they informed me that they would replace all the ones which had corrosion.

I am sure this happened on the last set of alloys Lexus used on their IS200.

Has anybody else had corrosion aswell.

PS I have the 11 spoke dark grey alloys.

dont say that as i have only had mine 3 months as well but i have got the dark gray multi spoke and there is nothing yet!!!

if that was me i would get a new set!!!!

  7. What an @r$e. Hope it's not the thing that happens regularly. I'd be well heart broken  :yack: Let us know how you get on fixing it up - not sure touch up paint would lend in that well for scratches (better for stone chips really)

I'm going to leave it for the mo until i can get some money up and then get it in the body shop and ill get a kit at the same time!

Thats a proper wounder, thats bad news mate. I already well paranoid about where I leave my car. This doesn't help. Hope you get it sorted mate and all will be forgotten when you get the kit!!

    Cheers mate!!!

  8. guys,

It is with great regret i have to inform you that my Altezza RS200 has been written off.

I dont know how much my insurance company are planning to pay off for it but i was wondering if anyone knew what the market value for the following would be:

Altezza RS200, 17 inch Alloys, Rear Spoiler, a/c, silver colour, tinted windows e.t.c. Mileage of 40,000 miles. The car hadnt passed SVA and MOT yet. But almost all the work had been done.

Can anyone find out the market value for the car taking into account it hadnt been registered e.t.c?

harsh mate, sorry to here that mate and good luck!

  10. Just took picked up my first Lexus yesterday from Tunbridge Wells (a very helpful and keen salesman). Have got to say they are just amazing cars  :zee:

Also like to say that the LOC website is a brilliant source of information - I knew pratically everything about the car before I bought it, so felt that I knew exactly what I wanted.

I have, however, also noticed a couple of things that I did not really think to look into:

    1) Are the remote keys really that prone to interferance? I am having such random luck with them working... As the car is under the used car warranty, would a new ECU actually fix anything

    2) I'm not sure if I am suffering the clutch judder mentioned in looking for used IS200 - perhaps i've not adjusted to the clutch/gears; but its fine in the higher (3-6) gears...

hello mate and welcome to loc!!!!!

    3) Sat Nav disks are soooo expensive!!! Forgot to haggle an update when I bought the car!  :crybaby:

    4) Anyone thought of doing a consolidated post of some sort for current Servicing prices, LOC discount? I'll be doing one in Easter or so, as i'll be due a 40k service.

    Anyway,

Wish everyone had a lovely Christmas, and to have a prosperous new year :)

  11. Although it's just enough to look at them, but what made you decide Lexus over any other cars you was interested in?

Why Lexus and not BMW or Merc etc.....

    Im just curious!!!

bmw and merc are not very well built and are not realy a drivers car!

plus the sales and after sales is so much better !
