  1. I have just logged on to My Lexus and there is, as stated, an update labelled 'Spring 2024 Speed Limit Database Update'.

However, I get no further. It asks me to select my vehicle, which I do, it than wants the Map Update ID and the Map Service Code; it tells me I will find these on my head unit under 'Navigation/Map Update. But there when I go into the 'Navigation' section there is no 'Map Update' choice to find these codes.

I used to update my maps on the RAV4, it was time consuming but relatively easy.

  2. I had the panoramic view on my RAV4 and I really liked it; I was able to check the position of the car in a parking bay, use the front camera to assess more accurately, the distance to any obstruction etc..

Unfortunately, on the NX it did not come as an optional extra, it required the full upgrade to Premium Plus, which was outside my budget. However, the view from the rear camera on the NX is superior to what the RAV had and the tilt down wing mirrors help with positioning the car when reverse parking.

  3. I guess its the postcode. I live in Northumberland (NE postcode) and pay less than £600pa (it actually went down from my RAV4 insurance!!).

Insured with NFU (used to be LV but their last renewal was quite high). I lease the same model you're looking at; only 1 driver on policy; I'm an older driver (69); full no claims; car is insured to be parked on driveway; £450 excess with another £300 voluntary excess.

Aviva gave me a lower quote, but went with NFU as they have a local office.

Which area of the Lexus website did you use please.

We're finding it impossible to navigate it to get to map updates or indeed any information of use.

Just going by the Toyota process (of course may be different for Lexus), if you log on to your 'My Lexus' account on a computer any update options should show in the 'e-store' (one of the options on the left of the screen or drop-down menu from the 'My Lexus' button at the top of the screen.

I suspect the fuel figures would be better if the traction battery was exhausted (or at least at a lower level)

When one drives in HV mode with 100% battery, where the electricity generated when you go downhill or break is to go?

Also it is not good for the battery to be at 100% for a long time. The manual actually says that when one is not using the car for some time it is better if the battery is deprecated (I.e. at 30%).

It was using the traction Battery on the journey, the car switched into EV mode when circumstances dictated, as it's designed to do in HV mode; I would guess that the regenerative energy would then top up the energy used during these periods.

This was my first long journey in a PHEV, and I wanted to see how the car's systems worked on such a journey; the Battery was at 100% for the journey, once I came off the motorway at my destination, I switched from HV to EV.

  6. I recently did my first long journey in the NX.  I started the journey with the tank full and Battery at 100%; I used HV mode for the whole journey, which was mostly motorway roads and driving to the speed limit. I filled the tank as soon as I arrived, having driven 339 miles, it took 6.6 gals to fill it, the Battery still showed 100%; as the Battery was at 100% at the end of the journey, I'm guessing the fuel figures probably would have been the same if the traction Battery had been exhausted when I started the journey.

Try Using The Waze App It Warns you of Speed Cameras etc and Has Really Good Maps to follow.... Better than The Maps on Lexus In My Opinion.. I Use Waze all the Time...!!! Get a Wireless Dongle To Connect Automatically in the Car if you don,t Already Have One..!!!! Saves you having a Cord Trailing about in the Car..!!

Thanks Ron, I'm not keen on Waze, preferring Google Maps, which also provides me with speed camera warnings. The MA1 is a wireless dongle, doesn't work quite as seamlessly as it did in the RAV (it would start automatically whenever I got in the car), but it does ok.

If you like the native Lexus satnav here’s an extract from the manual that may help with the camera warning

Cheers Kevin, I think I looked at that page, but didn't see any speed camera option, but I'll double check tomorrow.

  8. Made my first long trip in the NX, Northumberland to Surrey. Thought I'd try the car's satnav instead of my usual Google maps via Android Auto, it was ok, better than my previous RAV; my only issue with it was no speed camera warning or display on the map. I had a look through the menus and couldn’t see anything about cameras, so a bit disappointed with that.

I did the journey in hybrid mode and got 51mpg. The ride was certainly quieter and smoother than the RAV, so with the exception of the lack of speed camera info on the satnav I'm very happy. In future I'll revert to using my Motorola MA1 and Android Auto for navigation.

Had a brand new 24 plate NX350h F Sport today as a courtesy car as mine was in for some work.

I can confirm that WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO WORKS on that car, using my Samsung S21+

Tried it again on my car (2023 MY24 NX350H TAKUMI), does not work.

Let's hope an OTA update is soon.

Thats great news. Still having to use my Motorola MA1 on my 24 plate NX450h+

  10. What a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted quickly; can't understand why you have to take it to the original Lexus dealer, can't they talk to each other?

On a personal level, I am concerned reading this as I am not aware of a 'Lexus Password'. I certainly was never informed of one, nor have I been asked to set one.

Should I have been given one when I picked up the car?

  11. I queried the tyre pressures with my dealer, but no definitive answer. The lady at the dealership has an NX450h+ and had just had the first service, she has hers set at 2.4 Bar (34.8 PSI). she reckons she get even wear, so I have gone with that. I have the Yokohama BlueEarth.

Time will tell, but I guess there are so many factors that can impact, there's a certain amount of trial and error, within reason.
