  1. Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to access the bulb in the front courtesy light of an IS200.

    Thanking you Steve.

Do you mean the front map light or the central done light?

Map light - grip the grey plastic firmly at the front and rear and squeeze / wiggle / pull loose - it takes a bit of effort

Dome light - prise off with a 3/4mm flatblade screwdriver, taking care not to scratch the plastic lens or surround

    Thanks for that

    Steve

  2. Hi all, I have had my IS200 for 18months now. its a 2001 and bought second hand with 38000 miles on the clock. and a full Lexus service history. I have had both the 40000 mile and 50000 mile ( even though it has only done 45000) service done by Lexus Liverpool. They have given me a service report that is hard to believe.

Quote" water pump and by pass hose leaking" £500

    "Front discs worn" £350.

    "Rear discs worn" £318.

    "Cambelt & tensioner worn" £300.

Is this an acceptable report for a car that has only done 45000miles? or are they trying it on???

If this report turns out to be correct, can anyone give me a reliable garage or mechanic in the Liverpool area to do the work....

    Much obliged SteveL

You can buy ALL of those parts on the net yourself for much less..... then take them to an Independant and pay for labour only.....

    Thanks for the replys.

I have been on the net and found the discs, but I have been unable to find the water pump and by-pass hose, has anyone an idea were I could purchase them, as their is a leak of pink fluid around the joint .This is the only certain problem

    Steve

  4. Industry News: Lexus IS200 wins security survey

    02 Aug 99 00:00

Lexus, the luxury car offshoot marque of Toyota, currently have three reasons to celebrate. Firstly, it's their tenth anniversary, and secondly, they are the best-selling luxury car manufacturer in the United States.

The third reason for Lexus to be cheerful is the results of the What Car? magazine security test; the IS200 was judged to be the most secure car on sale in the UK. It gained a perfect 100% score in the tests, resisting forced entry by professional locksmiths, and remained immovable within the set test period. The IS200 was also commended for its level of sophisticated security equipment, including double door locking, visible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), marked parts, locking wheel nuts and etched windows.

    I feel a lot happier now :D :D
