  1. www.blackcircles.co.uk has Dunlop DZ8s 225/60/16 at £100.78 fitted.

Oh bugger.. typical... never mind... I had to change them on the day for an MOT.. thankfully she passed with flying colours

BTW, on the subject of tyre noise, after having the front Pirelli's changed and D8z's fitted.. there is no noticeable difference from the cabin..

As the chap above said, most of the noise is from crap roads.

Another point worth noting is that the Dunlops D8z's have a higher speed rating and will supposedly last up to 35k miles.

If you are down in Hampshire / West Sussex, take a run along the resurfaced A27, next to no noise at all!

  2. 7 SERIES

Have you seen the new 7 series?.. its awful! and has a really noitcable touch of cheapness about the build quality!

I know someone who had one, no legroom in the back, strange looking drawers in the front, low roof, so tall people beware.

The sat nav is a computerised voice, on the body it looks like they have stuck bits of plastic onto th eboot with glue..

The old 7 series is nice, but the new one... no thanks!

  3. Thanks for all the feed back - I'll be back on the D8Z's if i can track them down again but the michelins and yokoholmas sound good alternatives.

Just been in touch with Pompey Tires in Portsmouth, they can get and fit the Dunlop DBz's for £110 each.

I noticed that I have Pirelli on the front, they have worn really badly in the space of a year and well under 10k miles.

The back tyres on my mk4 are dunlop dbz's and are still looking good.

  4. Damn right!

    I need to vent!!

I parked the lex in a street overnight, next morning they have managed to scuff my bumper and scrape the sensor rubber surround off the bumper...

There must have been resistance when they were trying to accelerate surely???, but nooo.. they seemed to have just put their foot down and done the damage anyway.

I mean, it should be easy enough to repair, but thats not the point.. you know?

I wonder what goes through these peoples minds when they damage other peoples property..

And surely you would notice a steaming great big ls400 infront of you!!!

"duuhhh what was that?.. oooh I hit a car... deeeerr... oh well...., now where am I.. buuuhhh.. oh yeah... let me get me mobile out and text people when I drive... duuuhhh ...."

Next week its.. "derrr why is that old man bouncing off my bonnet... I..errrr know.. i'lll text me mates... they'll know...." ( dribble )

Not that I am bitter or anything... oh no.... ;)

  5. I have lost the black rubber surround from the front sensor, unfortunately Lexus units are different from the Aristo and the whole unit has to be bought. Any ideas would be appreciated. Mikel

Hi Mike, do you know if this applies to the rear sensors as well? Some idiot ( twice now ) has managed to scuff the left side of the back bumper whilst pulling away from a street parking position.

Is there a part number for the surround only on a 98 ls400?

This time they took the rubber surround with them.

Is the car not big enough for these idiots to see???

Please excuse me, I just need to rant..

  6. Just completed a run from Devizes to Southampton (60 miles)and got 31mpg travelling at the speed allowed by the traffic. Well chuffed as when car was new (2000 miles ago) best was 21mpg

Do I have a new record??, Southampton to Croydon @ 32.2 mpg in my 98 ls400, that includes about 30 mins of city driving.

    Average motoray speed = between 70 - 80 mph

On average I get about 26-27mpg, mixture of urban + motorway driving.

The only real problem I get is that whenever i arrive at my destination, I don't want to get out of the car!!!, too damn comfotable!
