  1. Don't let Bazgtr see that!

He's the magpie of the Lexus world and loves anything shiny! :winky:

I like it, But how long would that live on my car before it goes outside my house? Answer = seconds.

Anyway I have done the rear of the LS last week with new badges on the boot etc and funds going towards some clear rear lights.

Mod funds are going on my GTR for the next few weeks so bling will have to wait.

Well you should move back to a more civilised place where the people are normal :winky:

So you're keeping the Gtr now?? Good, but it's still not as fast as mine :P

Probably by the time you read this it'll be up for sale again tho. You change your mind more than my mrs when she's looking at shoes!

Ade N1's???? Pointless in the box, Just sell them to me.

Already covered this in the resurrected "lowering springs" thread. NO! NO! NO!

  2. Pictures of Adrian's car can now be found at http://www.xboxrepair.plus.com/threesix36/lexus/images/ (I'm hosting 'em for him!)

Looked at pictures, They are rubbish with a rubbish driver. He's fat and old. :winky:

SPRINGS? Is that the only mod you can thnk of for yor car? I can't believe you never asked me for the springs etc for the LS400's as I know everything. I'm let down in you not asking after all the times in the past.

P.s. to your answer to your other thread. Gtr faster than mine eeerrrrr not any more as spent few pounds on her recently and yours is a dust catcher with a flat Battery. :winky:

    Hello!

You drinking again?? This thread is from 2005 when I had the Gs!

I always ask you for advice you know that as I'm a fair believer in care in the community! and besides it gives you something to do :D

As for the Gtr's, wanna race big boy! I've washed the cobwebs of her and charged the Battery so beware, and I haven't fitted the better turbo's yet.

And before you start I am going to fit them and no you can't have them! :winky:

  4. If it is cutting into the wall of the tyre then the offset is wrong on the wheels. If it is the top of the tyre then lower the profile 45 or 40s.

I wouldn't advise 35s on an LS the ride would be bad. You would feel every bump in the road 'cos the LS is a heavy car.

I had bigger wheels on my LS400 Can't remember if they were 18s or 19s but I had 45 profile tyre on and the ride was still good.

The 35's on mine have no different ride characteristics than the 40's that were on there previously!

If the width of the tyre is increased (from 235 to 265) it is necessary to lower the side wall profile to retain the same rolling radius. In effect a 235/40 and a 265/35 will have very little if any change in sidewall size.

bazgtr's reply is also spot on!

  5. Hey guys!

Ok has any one put a set of 18" rims on a ls before? The reasons why i ask is that i bought a set of deep dish rims, i was told that i would have no problems putting them on, so i put it on 235, 50, 18's. Initial problem is that i lowered the car too much and they didnt fit. The ride was terrible so easily enough i put the old springs back on. Lone behold the tyres are still hitting the arches and taking chucks out of the tyre!!

    Can anyone advise me please??????]

    Cheers Mat

    Hello.

I've got 18's on mine and I've just fitted 265/35/18's on the back and there are no problems. I haven't lowered it tho!

To me 50 profiles on a 235 is a little on the too high side. 40's or a 35 profile would be better. (I have 235/40's on the front)

Hope this is of some help?

  6. I've heard of them fitting an alarm in a Jag, they drilled the wood dash for an LED (or was it the leather, I can't remember) and the owner went ballistic!

They drilled a hole in the leather that was part of the dash. Owner returned and as you say went ballistic.

They agreed to replace the part with a new leather piece, but low and behold, the leather is a specific colour and the new part did not match!!

The only option available was to replace the complete interior!!!. I can't recall the total price, but it's fair to say it was substantial!

That was only one of the many things seen, I could include:

1, Car being reversed of an mot ramp whilst in the air!

2, Car being driven into closed garage door, as new brakes were fitted and not bled!

3, Car driven into mechanics toolboxes (numerous times).

4, brake pads fitted back to front!

These are the ones that instantly come to mind, there are lots more.

  7. Hello.

Long time since I've posted, but exobex sent the thread to me, so thought I'd add my views.

I currently have an R32 Skyline Gtr and they are extremely rapid. Mine has been modified, but even in standard trim they go very well.

The handling takes a while to get used to, as they tend to corner better than you'd expect. They are very thirsty animals tho! and I regularly see single figures in my fuel economy if driven hard. But you will see low 20's if driven sensibly.

I've owned a few Supra's and they are a different beast to the Skyline, personally I prefer the look of the Supra, but that's just my opinion. What I like about the Skyline, is the driving experience, it just feels more composed. (again my opinion)and the fact that you don't see many of them about, as compared to the Supra. (around my neck of the woods anyway!)

You are quite right about the prices (unfortunately for me!) thay are dropping quite a bit these days, but as always, beware of thrashed examples.

Hope this helps? and if you need any more info, let me or exobex know.

    Regards,

    Ade.

  8. I have been trying to send them, but it takes forever! :tsktsk:

I'll try again, and that's it for tonight if they dont go this time.

I've managed to put a personal picture in my profile tho!!! :D

    Cheers Mart,

  9. Hello again.

The springs are on and the car now looks like it should! :D

As far as ride quality goes, it obviously isn't as comfy as it was, but saying that it isn't really that bad!

If you hadn't been in it before lowering, then you probably wouldn't comment on the ride now, and believe it's as it should be.

The handling has been greatly improved ( spot on Keith!! ) and I'm glad to sacrifice a little comfort for this.

I took some photo's before doing the job, but due to the bad weather, have not taken any since! I'll try and do a.s.a.p and attempt to put them on here. :mat:

All in all a good mod that was well worth the money!

( and the scraped knuckles!!! : :tsktsk: )

Hope this is of some help to anyone contemplating doing the mod as I was.

    Regards,

    Ade.

  10. Hello Keith,

Thanks for that mate. It makes spending the money a little easier knowing you're happy with yours!! :)

Looking at the picture of yours on the left, the stance looks like what I want to achieve.

Have you put any more pictures of your car on this site? ( you probably have, but being new to this it'll probably take me ages to find them! )

    Regards,

    Ade.

  11. Ordered the springs (Eibach).

Apparently they lower the front by 20mm, and the back by 15mm. Sounds good to me!

But knowing my luck it'll look the same. :crybaby:

I'll take some pics before I do the job on Saturday and some after it's done.

Top service by the people at TDi, they really know their stuff.

    Speak to you soon.

    All the best.

  12. Thanks for all the replies!!!

I've been a member on other owners websites, but have never experienced the feedback of information as I have tonight! and all at this hour!

I will contact Tdi a.s.a.p and sort out the springs.

( Otherwise the off road gang will be inviting me out on Sunday's, with the amount of clearance I've got between arch and tyres!!! ) :hehe:

    Thanks once again lads.

    Ade.

P.s keep an eye on me, as I haven't started on the induction kit and the...............

  13. Hello Mat.

    Sweet Gs!!

I've managed to find a website that lists springs for the mark 1 Gs, they are Eibach and the part number is 8.24114e+006.

The website is Speedy performance parts. com.

Has anyone had any dealings with them?

    Ade :driving:

    Hello to you, Legendswraith,

You're probably right about shipping them in.

Everyone I spoke to on the phone today didn't have a clue! (obviously speaking to the wrong people!!!)

I thought shipping was my only option.

    Ade.

  15. Hello to everyone!!

I have only just bought my Lexus and I was wondering if any one out there knows if there are lowering springs available?

I have spoken to numerous companies and they only list Eibach springs, but they are for 1997on, mines a 1995 "N"

I have just been on the TDi website and I think there are ones listed, but I'm unsure of the model number they are stating (JZS147/JZS161 respectively)

    Which one would mine be?

Any information would be gladly appreciated.

    Ade.. :driving:
