I'm 36... and found quite a few companies that would not quote because of no Tracker....
Never got round all the comanies..and when I got elephant quote I just went with it, was getting fed up with filling in forms etc at that point.
Never realised they never refunded the remainder if I cancel...yikes...bit late to change now.
Nexty year I need to set aside more time to do this properly, I unfortunately had it in my head that I wanted to pay ~£350 and when I got that I signed up...doooohhhhh
-
I'm also VERY concenrned with the residuals on the RX300's... new model probably will hurt the re-sale even more, as will high petrol prices etc etc.
Funnily enough when I bought mine I saw a few guides saying they had good residuals.... how things have changed...
Go to www.networkq.co.uk and look under "buyers checklists"..... you will then find a "value my car" link that will give you the glass's guide prices... all very depressing reading.

Got mine last night, waiting on service department to call back to book it in.
My brake pedal goes soft when I'm sitting stationary with teh foot on the brake, if I pump it then it stay hard...anyone else have this ?
Also... how many miles doe you get out of a set of pads (typically)... I have 12k miles, might ask them to check amount left and if not a lot then see if they'll swap them in while doing the recall. Hopefully only cost me the cost of the pads then.
-
I got rear ones fitted... work brilliantly.
Never seen any with front sensors...but can't see a reason why not, would just need another switch added to activate / de-activate them.
-
So...got a good deal in end... £351 from elephant.co.uk that is garaged, protected no-claims and £250 excess, up to 7k miles a year..
Shapped around and elephnat were the only ones to actually call me back and took £30 off the renewal if I signed up there and then....
....Funnily enough the previous company (Admiral) offered to "try and match" when i called to cancel... very amusing since Admiral and Elephant are the same company....
-
So car renewal came in this morning...£412 and was wondering if anyone knows any good companies to try ?
I'm with Admiral and so far using confused.com they're cheapest...
Also found that Egg and directline will not quote as I've not got a tracker...
I'm 36, full no claims, no accidents in 5+ years, car garaged and about 7k miles per year.... was hoping for less than £412...

So what sort of deal you get on the Audi ??... I was out in my neighbours A6...2.0TDi S-line, very impressive, 3.0TDi must be even nicer... really impressed with space inside, he's 6'5" and still space behind him.
-
I've had mine just about 18 months... and so far a very good buy...
-'s....
- Fuel consumption, 18mpg around town..oooch !
- Depreciation, think I'll loose a bucket on money when I trade, fuel prices murdering residuals.
- alloys are corroding.
- Bit wallowy around corners, but I knew this when I bought it.
- SE stereo is not really that good.
+'s
+ No other niggles, faults.
+ Looks and drives like when I got it.
+ Very comfortable, quiet car.
+ Dealer excellent (though no cause to test them out, only been back for yearly service...just the way I like it).
+ Much better service than my last BMW..they were hopeless.
+ Loads of equipment as standard...soooo much better than BMW etc in that respect.
Would I buy another....mmmm.. certainly not new, I'd look at SEL's for the better stereo... and next time I want something different. Always want something different next time though.
Overall a good car, just make sure you appreciate the amount of fuel that the car will drink....

Wifes Mercedes A Class has sensor installed as standard, if you use their own child seat it comes with built in transmitter and when child seat is placed on the front seat the system automatically disables the passenger airbag, neat.
Why cant Lexus do the same.
Funnily enough my neighbour was just moaning about that very feature last night in his wives clk...or more precisely the fact that you are then stuck with an OEM baby seat, and that there are several once required as age range does not last long and they are expensive. He's talking of selling and getting a 4 door, says the 2 door couple was not bought with kids in mind.
Also sure there is a report that safest place for babies is in the back in accidents....and to be honest I think kids are distracting enough being in the back without them being right beside you..
-
Think you need to take it to dealer and let them track down where the water has gotten in.... they should be able to trace all the connections and work out what the issue is..
...cant see it being cheap ! Never a good idea to get engines cleaned, way to much electronic in there these days to get water into...

Seeing how well the RX has held its price (not) next time I'm going to buy nothing newer than a 3 year old car, that will hopefully loose less...
.....ok that is my argument with the wife for getting a Porsche 911, dont really want to spend much more than I spent on the RX so that roughly equates to a '03 996....with hopefully a less steep depreciation curve...and just a weeeeee bit faster...
-
probably the same muppet fitting them all...with the same mistake...
-
No issues with indicators on my RX300 (and guessing same as the RX400)... might be worth trying another car and see if it acts the same.
And opening of car with button...can't fathom how you'd hold the open vbutton for long enough to get it to do this....and then leave the car ?.....oooohhh and it will be in the manual :winky: so might be worth reading ?? Oooo... if you hold teh button long enough it will close teh windows and sunroof for you...
Will be interesting to see how the mpg increases in the summer...
Stereo...definitely a missed upgrade when they brought out the RX400h, mates IS250 plays MP3's...and has bit in arm rest to feed in sound from an iPOD, pity RX's dont have either option.

more worryingly is that the computer then says ~275 miles till it needs another £55... :(
Filled with Optimax at 98.9p and it cost £61.99p although when done my trip computer said 359 miles!!
You need to ease up on the right foot :D
Porbably, but not helped with often doing sghort journeys which just kills the mpg..
....and yes, I never hang around...

General warranty is 3 years or 60k miles...not 30k. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owning_a_lexus/warranty.asp
Mine are just starting to bubble on the edges of the spokes so not down to stone chips.
In my book if you can spot it they should replace it.
-
Heard that the replacement ones are refurbished....and meant to last better...?
Personally I'd get replaced asap..if you get a new set now...or after the winter. November worst time of year to get new alloys with all the salt on the road.
And why is the warranty limit 30k miles ??
-
When I got my service last month I happened to ask about tyres..and expected lifetime. Guy said anything from 12k miles is "normal"...said the tyres were a soft compound to give max grip with low noise (starnge as the 2 never normally go together).
If that is the case, 12k miles being "normal" think I'll invest in a set of michelin...they always last much better, father in law went through bridgestones in 10k on his Mazda 6 estate and he drives sooooo slowly it is annoying...
Anyone tried different makes ?
-
And that mine started to corrode...noticed the tell tale bubbling on the front left wheel...will leave it a wee while till all 4 bubble before getting replacements.
Very disappointing....but not unexpected.
-
Only thing for definite is that it drive the RX300's prices down with it being the old model.... :(
-
I had parking sensors added to my RX300SE by my dealer (As I've no SATNAV...and camera)...they only beep continuously when I'm just about to hit something.... sounds like yours are "duff" and guessing a visit to dealer to correct is required.
-
What I want is to send them something that disrupts them... if I could physically track them down I'd visit and give them a good kickin to be honest...
Virus or something would be good...buit guessin they'd have filters. Any way to sent 10,000 email to and address ? overload their account ?
Just a weee bit annoyed about not being able to "get them"....
-
So I got an email forwarding account hacked...and eventually got it back after convincing the company that it had been hacked.
Does anyone know of a way to get back the person that hacked my account, send a virus etc ?...all I have is a yahoo email account name.

LS430 I was offered this car top of the range adaptive criuse ect for the sum of 45K, thats a 57K car ( at least) for 45K, New model on it's way (460) I turned it down though, got 20% off a new (in september) audi 4.2 A8 TDI fully speced up with full sports options, + pax system run flat 19" wheels ect, ect, retail 64K my price £51200 and thats on order for september.
Lexus do not like discounting and consequently dont sell many cars. :D
The bigger the discount they give the more the cars depreciate...so I for one understand why they dont give massive discounts.
That was an impressive amount off the A8.....
